Life is shit, husband just left, got a girls night out Saturday to drink my sorrows away, is this outfit too much? I'm thinking along the lines of look what your missing you bastard but I don't want to look like I'm for hire either!

thecatfromjapan · 18/05/2016 10:59

And, yes, have a great night out, OP.

Mummyoftwo91 · 18/05/2016 10:59

Thank you Willard and pillows, I wish I could go bra free but after 2 kids my tits look like 2 sacks of shit lol I would feel self conscious going bra free

20's going nightclubbing! A group of 10 other girls who will be dressed similar if not more risqué than me, I do like that Asos dress but cba to buy another one

OP posts:
NoCapes · 18/05/2016 11:06

Oooh that Asos one is lovely!

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 18/05/2016 11:15

I'd either try the masking tape Kim know invention, the none fancy bralet and fishing that I'd stitch it up a bit and get one of those bras that's got the clear tape connecting the two cups. Have a food night.

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 18/05/2016 11:16

Good night ha

Iamlora88 · 18/05/2016 11:21

If you like it then wear it! Screw what anyone else thinks!

OrangeSplot · 18/05/2016 12:01

Lovely but without bra much much much preferable.
Have fun and hope you feel better after break up.

squizita · 18/05/2016 12:23

Primark has a 'Bralette' which is 2 foam cups with a panel of lace below - that would fill the awkward triangle of skin (tbh not bothered with any sexist 'nice girl' stuff but it just looks accidental/not balanced to my eye IYSWIN). It would still give the 'bra peeping' look but the shape would be more deliberate looking.

I discovered them as comfy weekend/round the house bras and OH MY GOODNESS THEY ARE COMFY. I'm 32D used to be 32E but post breastfeeding messy boobs, if it works for me it works for anyone .

Scarydinosaurs · 18/05/2016 12:33

Go out and have a great time. Do the tape thing. Go braless. Sod it. You'll have such a great time you won't care. Enjoy your friends company- when my marriage broke down when I was a similar age to you, I only got through it because of my amazing friends.

Mummyoftwo91 · 18/05/2016 12:55

Oooh I'll deff give primark a look

OP posts:
toffeeboffin · 18/05/2016 13:20

Just to say you will look great whatever you wear, OP.

Go out, have fun and enjoy yourself,

Mummyoftwo91 · 18/05/2016 13:20

Thank you toffee Smile

Excuse me, but we must deal with the world as it is, not as it should be. The world can be (is) a shitty place. You're vulnerable because as you said your 'life is shit'. Don't risk it by going out like that and maybe getting into a horrible situation because then you'll feel much, much worse.

No, I don't like victim-bashing either but it still goes on, I'm sorry to say. You only have to read the papers. I knew that my original post would be commented on, it meant you will be blamed, not that I would personally think that. There are still a lot of dinosaurs out there, so be careful.

specialsubject · 18/05/2016 14:15

I just think it looks like you forgot half the outfit!

eatsleephockeyrepeat · 18/05/2016 14:21

You're vulnerable because as you said your 'life is shit'

I get where you're coming from blithering I just think there are better ways to protect yourself than by limiting your own freedom, your self-expression and your right to enjoy your own body.

Surrounding yourself with people who genuinely care about your well-being is a good start. I think that's generally considered safe enough to be well protected from the shitty bits on a night out. The world is not often so shitty that you should be expected to do much more.

Sorry Mummy, don't want to derail your thread!

MiddleClassProblem · 18/05/2016 14:34

What's in the papers isn't what happens to everyone otherwise it wouldn't be news or "news" in some papers cases

MiddleClassProblem · 18/05/2016 14:40

I also would like to say I wore this sort of thing in my late teens/early 20s and 10 years on wish I still could so I would make the most of it if I was body confident x

squizita · 18/05/2016 14:42

People wear stuff like this in nightclubs all the time. Most experience a fun night and then 'OMG did I wear that' or 'wow I was hot then' when they check their photos a decade later, nothing worse. Some unfortunately end up the victim of a morally reprehensible thug or pervert.

Meanwhile many women get harrassed all the time walking to work - in knee length trousers, coats, my mate who wears modest muslim clothing has had dirty men leer at her the same as I have.

Got nothing to do with clothing, everything to do with toxic men who can be toxic anywhere any time sadly (also her outfit is in context - for example, no one says "offensive" about a bikini in the pool or on the beach, or nudists letting it all hang out - well the OP will be in a club. Everyone dresses 'up' and flaunts their youth in clubs).

squizita · 18/05/2016 14:52

Middleclass Yep, I started clubbing in the 90s when R&B/UK Garage was at its height and your other options were indie/grunge (lots of tiny slips) or house (pretty much bikinis sometimes!!).

Some photos raise a wry smile in me, others make me think "why did I think my thighs were chunky? Why didn't I wear those shorts..?" and others are fond memories.

I still dress pretty wacky, tbh, but my age of club now is somewhere you get signed in for a cheap beer with bowls/golf/tennis attached haha.

burnishedsilver · 18/05/2016 14:53

Honestly, it looks like it's on back to front.

If you're going to wear it just check in the mirror that you're hapoy with how it looks when you're sitting down. It might gape open.

eatsleephockeyrepeat · 18/05/2016 14:59

squizita you're bringing it all back! Early '00s for me. I was the one dancing on a speaker in hotpants and a furry bra Blush

blitheringbuzzards1234 · 18/05/2016 15:11

All I'm saying it don't give the bad guys ammunition. Go out, stay safe and don't get separated from your mates. I don't think that's being unreasonable.

squizita · 18/05/2016 15:14

Hmm "ammunition" - so the outfit will 'give' bad guys weapons to use against the OP? That is what you are saying.

This is specifically what MN said was not acceptable. Please stop.

MiddleClassProblem · 18/05/2016 15:19

A furry bra! Grin

I did a see through top and black bra like I was in a girl band. A lot of crop tops and bra tops. I think I thought I was Brandy...
