Gosh, I tried my Perfume Parlour version of original Poison last night- it is so true to the original it's amazing! (unlike the PP version of Black Orchid which either a) isn't true to the original in which case I still have the original on a wishlist b) is true to the original and it goes all sweet and powdery and vanilla-y after that first amazing blast of weird and wonderful.

I still love the Poison- fake or not, I will still pop a drop on my wrist every so often, but the population at large is safe, I can't see me actually dousing myself in it and going out in public. Grin

cressetmama · 27/06/2016 11:40

SoTD is CdG Serpentine, all woodsy, green and full of galbanum.

MissBattleaxe · 27/06/2016 18:31

Perfumes The Guide is a brilliant read. I especially like it when they dislike something- so acerbic!

I just received a little roll on of Al Rehab White Musk. It's brilliant. I always have a bottle of Body Shop White Musk for layering and was running out, but this beats it off the top spot and is only 1.99 for 10ml.

I counted and I have about 40 bottles and about 500 samples.

schmalex · 27/06/2016 19:25

Yes, I'm enjoying it, I wasn't expecting a funny read!

I must admit I'm somewhat disappointed with my expensive FB of ALTAIA Don't Cry For Me. It is beautiful, but it only seems to last about an hour! Should have tried a sample first. Oh well, at least I have a big bottle so can keep spritzing it on...

SOTD is Penhaligon Amaranthine the scent of 'a dirty dirty girl' according to Surrender To Chance. It's supposed to smell like the inside of a woman's thigh. I'm not too sure about that, but it is my favourite of my animalic samples so far. It's kind of milky and fruity with a dirty undertone. Oo-er!

flightywoman · 27/06/2016 21:55

I splurged on 100ml of Lemon last Saturday, £28.50. Insanely cheap! I just love it, and reach for it most days, to preserve my other favourites...

And now I'm watching a Givenchy III on ebay and hoping I get it, because it just tugs at my heart when I smell it...

I tried Fire, but only on a scent strip, not on the skin. Might have to go back next week and get a spray because TBH it didn't hit me as "OMG totes amazes". And given the unanimity of your views I am obviously missing something!

ggirl · 27/06/2016 22:04

Fire grew on me...wasn't enamoured when i initially smelled it but now I love it ..its a battle between it and Lemon in the morning.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 28/06/2016 03:44

total nostalgia trip right now wearing Ghost Deep Night. It's what I wore when I was pregnant and takes me right back to that time. It's still enjoyable though very of its time i think

I get a lot of musk, rose and a sort of woody scent in it and a lot of what i think is possibly peach, it's got that sort of 'ripeness' to it that i associate with peaches. It's more complex than i ever gave it credit for in the past. I suppose it's a young seductress, just trying out her charms, not yet worldly but full of enthusiasm and sex appeal. I don't feel too old for it though, i feel like it fits my view of myself quite well, i don't think i'm world weary yet, i'm neither old nor young but somewhere between, still trying to find my place int he world and what it means for me

cressetmama · 29/06/2016 20:20

Blush I found the sample of Salome a kind perfumista gave me, so had a spritz, and then wondered all afternoon whether my lovely hairdresser thinks I am incontinent. The grey hair suggests that I am at reaching the age when it's a legitimate question!

flightywoman · 29/06/2016 20:48

I found it really weird at first Cresset, but I couldn't stop sniffing it or thinking about it afterwards...

I've just won a half bottle of Miss Dior on eBay - I SO hope it's not turned and is old formulation. Haven't smelt old Miss Dior for decades and I always loved it, I always wore it when I wore silk!

cressetmama · 30/06/2016 20:42

I don't dislike Salome, but it's a step up from Jicky. It was more about the proximity issues!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 30/06/2016 21:17

Everyone if you have a Savers near you and you like warm, honeyed scents, Vera Wang Lovestruck 100ml is on sale for just under £20. I bought one today - it is just like wrapping up in a fleecy blanket in front of your favourite movie!!!

MissBattleaxe · 30/06/2016 21:27

Savers, Bodycare and Home Bargains are all great for fragrance bargains. I found Cabochard ( tobacco-ey oriental) in Bodycare once for 8.99. Sometimes the unfashionable good stuff goes for a song.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 30/06/2016 21:29

I couldn't believe how cheap it was Missb!!! A total bargain....they had a few Ghosts on offer too but for whatever reason I have never got into Ghost. In all its different forms.

cressetmama · 30/06/2016 21:57

No Savers near here............... sobs.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 30/06/2016 22:12

Aww...Cresset (hugs hugs) Wink

I should have picked up a few...I was teaching in the town today and my colleague wanted one so I got two, one for her and me. The top on the bottle is just a little bit crazy!!!!!ShockConfused

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 30/06/2016 22:13

Another thing....Lady Million reminds me EXACTLY of Goldigga.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 30/06/2016 22:49

ugh, i really dislike lady million, it has something in it that smells like the acidic note you get in vomit to me. No idea what it is but ugh no, i couldn't wear it

schmalex · 01/07/2016 08:26

I'm also not a fan of Lady Million after trying a sample from the Perfume Soc.

SOTD is original Karl Lagerfeld formula Chloe that I snapped up on DePop. Big and floral to beat the rain!

MissBattleaxe · 01/07/2016 09:31

I don't like Lady Million either. I tried YSL Mon Paris recently and it was awful! A sickly gourmand candy floss fruity floral. How dare they put Paris on the label!

pippinandtog · 01/07/2016 11:13

Tried Liz Earle botanical no 15 in Boots last weekend and was impressed; might treat myself.

MissBattleaxe · 01/07/2016 11:37

schmalex- KL Chloe is a wonderful tuberose floral. Luckily it's not that popular these days which means its cheap as chips for us!

ggirl · 01/07/2016 16:38

pippinandtog I love Liz Earle no 15 ..wish she would bring out a body lotion in that scent too.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 01/07/2016 20:07

SOTD vintage Very Valentino. I bought it on EBay after bemoaning for soooo long it's discontinuation and I just love it. My all-time #1 scent. It is definitely not everyone's cup of tea but I think it is amazing!!

YetAnotherNC · 01/07/2016 20:44

cresset I'm giggling at your proximity worries with the hairdresser and Salome! I am totally hooked on it, and I still can't bring myself to wear it out of the house if I know I'm going to be in close proximity to people who know me Blush

Schmalex I love Amaranthine too. I also love Bal a Versailles, but the new version is a bit pants (or not pants enough if we're talking knickery!) And I love Theo Fennel Scent too. Hmm... Hi I'm Yet, I'm an animalic-aholic....!!

schmalex · 02/07/2016 06:08

MissB - I had a little sample of Mon Paris in my copy of Grazia this week and I agree it's horribly syrupy.

Yet - Salome is rapidly rising to the top of my to try list!
