we have a service here in the republic where we can get parcels sent to a po address in NI and it is sent on down to the republic for a small extra fee.

Devious or what!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 15/06/2016 22:26

Haha wilting....my DH buys me - without fail - Jean Paul Gaultier every flipping year! I hate it!!! I give it all away and he keeps coming back with more....

I got Fire from the Fragrance Shop. Smile

Chicinwellies · 16/06/2016 11:03

Ooh, can anyone embellish on what FIRE smells like? Im very tempted, purely from the fab reviews on here.

MissBattleaxe · 16/06/2016 14:28

Try this review Mary Greenwell Fire

schmalex · 16/06/2016 17:50

I had a splurge in Les Senteurs today - I've been dying to go for ages after hearing about them from you lot. I came home with a FB of Altaia Don't Cry For Me and a sample of By Any Other Name. I am now wafting around the house in a cloud of jasmine and cashmere wood!

cressetmama · 16/06/2016 19:44

Congratulations schmalex. Sounds like a lovely day, and interesting; don't know either of those perfumes, so please do tell us more.

SoTD, somewhat predictably, was F**e. Again! it's such an easy default. Not over powering, yet there, and not always the same. It's a will o' the wisp.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 17/06/2016 08:43

My Sotd yesterday was Yardley Jade. I am having a cheapo week after my YR neroli freebie.

As I say every time I wear it. It's like Cristalle, but sharper, and so, for me, better. A real acidy green kick that I love when it's hot.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 17/06/2016 11:38

My ebay risk arrived just now...10ml of pure heaven. Vintage (very, looking at the box) Dioressence. Delivered for 12 euro. Almost full.

cressetmama · 17/06/2016 13:04

Squealing in delight for you ThenLater. A steal at that price. Enjoy it.

SoTD has been Y, as it's fairly laidback and not intrusive, and I had to drive MrCresset to have his other cataract done. Back home now and he's sleeping off the adrenalin!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 17/06/2016 16:29

managed to bag some agent provocatuer petale noir for really really cheap. its really pretty as well, a big floral with some musky hints of dirtyness in the background. not at all fruity which i was worried about as im not the biggest fan of fruity perfumes but i do love a big floral

MissBattleaxe · 17/06/2016 18:06

I love AP Petale Noire. Where did you find it?

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 17/06/2016 20:37

our local house of fraser outlet missbattleaxe i'm hoping they will still hve some next week and i can get some more! it is actually really nice, a full on florl onslaught and plenty of leather and smoke. much better than i had hoped it would be and it does just have that smell of 'expensive' i'm never sure what note gives a perfume that air but this has it for sure

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 18/06/2016 15:56

SOTD was Lady Million, a gift from my niece. I tried it today for the first time after thinking for ages I wouldn't like it. But actually it isn't bad. It reminds me of a perfume from ages ago but not sure what. Wouldn't buy it for myself though.

cressetmama · 19/06/2016 19:18

Are threads with huge numbers of posts off-putting? I just notice that another scent thread (nostalgia) has raced to 150 posts and no one is talking to us! We chug away, talking to each other, and wondering where Frugal has gone, in a bit of a vacuum.

cressetmama · 19/06/2016 19:20

Oh, scent of the day is............. sewage. DS's guest has done something terminal to the saniflo loo in his ensuite. In wellies, mopping!!!

MissBattleaxe · 19/06/2016 19:58

If the retro thread people came over here, they would have so much great advice and knowledge.

We're friendly! Join us!

YetAnotherNC · 20/06/2016 10:08

Hi all, SOTD le Labo Labdanum and a squirt of Gala on top. Lovely warm and soft, keeping me cozy in this yucky weather today.
I've just succumbed on eBay to nearly 100mls of vintage shalimar, but have NO idea whether it's ok or not as it was sold in the collective bottles section rather than fragrances. Bit of a risk, but the bottle is pretty even if the scent has turned...

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 20/06/2016 10:33

I haven't worn anything since Friday as am just coming out of a 3 day migraine.

But my Perfume Parlour fakies have just arrived which I am excited about. Last time I had some from there I was very meh. None of them remotely resembled the real thing, but recently people have been raving so I thought I'd order another (different) batch and see. I've also blind-ordered some, so I might like them despite them not being like the original.

The vintage thread is lovely, isn't it? It was so relaxing in the middle of my monster-head to talk bout lovely bygone perfumes.

Shall we link to here over there and see if we can attract some new posters?

fairiesandelves · 22/06/2016 07:37

Morning! First post ever on MN I've been lurking on this thread taking it all in and just wanted to thank you for pointing me to Fire. I absolutely love it. Can't stop smelling my wrists! Also just ordered from perfume parlour too! You're all so knowledgeable and articulate about perfumes on here it's a pleasure to read and I'm learning loads.
Thank you again have a lovely day everyone
Smile

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 22/06/2016 12:08

Hello fairies! Welcome to the slippery slope!

I tried my Perfume parlour Paloma Picasso yesterday, can't remember what the real one smells like as I never had a bottle myself, but I like the PP one very much, although it doesn't last for very long. Still, for £3 what do you want!

Today am back in my Dioressence bargain, which at this rate won't last me very long either!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 22/06/2016 12:09

Picked up GreenTea Cherry Blossom yesterday for under £6. reminds me very much of something i used to wear in the 90's that my mum bought for me! going back today to see what else i can pick up for cheap. Not that i need anymore bottles but when is enough ever enough eh?!?!

FrustratedFrugal · 22/06/2016 13:57

Hi oldies and newbies, I've been to Greece (plus working like crazy before my vacations start). We've had a hot May so I've only worn sunscreen and Huile Prodigieuse and nil so my SOTDs have been too boring to record.

The weather was cold and stormy over the weekend so I've worn Chanel No. 5. (I have a bottle of the EDP that lacks the oily sandalwood note that I love but I am trying to learn to like the reformulation. It's OK at work.) today, I'm wearing the Ellena/YSL classic In Love Again.

What are you wearing today?

cressetmama · 22/06/2016 16:11

Ninfeo Mio today, for chauffeuring DS' Russian visitor back to get his plane. It needed something low key because I was in close proximity to the Saniflo engineer (see Sunday's SoTD) and I need to keep him on side!

Welcome fairies, to our wicked world, and welcome back, Frugal; we missed you!

wiltingfast · 23/06/2016 13:37

Ooo one of my favourites Smile

Sunflowers here; there's supposed to be citrus in this but I have to say, I never really get it. It's an unusual scent these days, fresh, kind of dryly floral or even grassy, bright. It warms up as you go through the day, hint of sweetness towards the end. V nice Smile

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 23/06/2016 14:56

for under £10, i have picked up Green Tea Camellia and Ambre Chabochard. very pleased with my bargains Grin
