I am really disappointed. My Miss Dior arrived and the squirter doesn't work - nothing in the listing to say it doesn't - but I've pumped it a billion times and nothing is coming out. So I've got a bottle full of something I can't access without trying to get the top off.

I'm quite fucked off.

Would you contact the seller in that situation?

teta · 03/07/2016 15:52

Definitely ,it needs to be refunded.
Fleur de Liane is SOTD .I absolutely love it - smells like milky, salty clean baby washed in Johnsons floral baby bath in a sea breeze. But it's discontinued and not even in eBay Shock.

cressetmama · 03/07/2016 19:08

Played it safe all weekend on the scent front as it was my niece's wedding. She looked gorgeous! Saw loads of friends from across the years, as well as all the families, and smelled of Elixir des Merveilles. What's not to love?

MrsCocoa · 03/07/2016 21:46

Hi Everyone . Have been in hiding as this thread is wreaking havoc with my bank balance.

Flighty - have used Travalo atomisers to get out of scrapes with non-functioning sprays. (Think that might have been a Frugal tip from way back?).

This weekend I rediscovered Magic Noire. Funny how tastes change. Had written it off in the noughties as dated - but really enjoyed discovering it again.

cressetmama · 05/07/2016 20:31

The natural world has smelled top dollar today. No scent to walk the Cressethound and everywhere I turned there was the fresh whiff of summer flowers. Someone should bottle it! I wish!

cressetmama · 05/07/2016 20:33

And, I have just re-oiled the kitchen table with (the last of the) lemon oil. Orange next, but it's not quite as nice.

WhiteHairReally · 06/07/2016 09:12

Sitting at CDG airport in a disappointed funk.
Perfume Book said (OK, in 2009) that the only place to track down Guerlain's rated Vetiver pour Elle was at duty frees around Paris.
Well not at Terminal 2E!

Anyone like to tell me that I'm not missing anything special?

Sorry image is upside down.

Bumping, because we have fallen to page THREE. Have we all got colds? That done, I don't really have a scent comment for today. Have had an unscented day but will do better tomorrow!

MissBattleaxe · 07/07/2016 21:55

SOTD First by Van Cleef and Arpels. I have a nice big bottle that gets lots of use.

I was going through my sample box earlier and discovered some favourites that i'd forgotten about.

Has anyone tried E Coudray Rose Iris? It's beautiful. Neither the rose nor the iris overpowers. I also liked Goya Black Rose- it;s wonderfully rich long lasting rose that believe it or not, reminded me of Tauer Phi Rose de Kandahar. I could sit there sifting though my samples for hours, quite happily! It reminds me of playing with toys- an art I should revisit. Life is stressy. It's good to play.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 07/07/2016 21:57

Bumping too!!! Also - I saw Clinique Elixir on sale yesterday in a local chemist with 30% off. I considered buying it but having read reviews it seems a little subjective??

Is it worth a blind buy?

MissBattleaxe · 07/07/2016 22:01

Personally, I love Aromatics Elixir, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. I would test first first. You may find you love it forever, or you may find it too "big"!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 07/07/2016 22:04

Oops I didn't see your post there MissB. My SOTD was Korres Iris and Lily. A sublime, delicate floral that has a hint of freshly washed cotton.

So easy to wear it is one of my go-to perfumes if I am just not sure which one to choose.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 07/07/2016 22:06

Thanks MissB. Yes, that is exactly what I was thinking. Miracle from Lancôme is also on sale so I might play it safe with that one just for now. Thank you!! Flowers

teta · 08/07/2016 09:08

I must try the E Coudray's Iris Rose.I love Jacinthe et Rose and Musc et Freesia ( albeit it's like a body spray but I just use loads). They both smell absolutely unique and a little vintage.
Tiare by Ormonde Jayne today. This is rapidly becoming my go-to for days when I want to feel efficient or need to be perked up.Tiare makes me feel grown-up rather bizarrely ( which I definitely an at 52!).

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 08/07/2016 09:29

missbattleaxe Thanks the samples are lovely, thank you. your parcel will be in the post as soon as i can manage, i'm really sorry it's been delayed, damn broken bones!

MissBattleaxe · 08/07/2016 12:51

You're welcome LastGirl and you're welcome OneNightTime. Let me know what you think of them. I'd be interested to know.

There were a few 4160 samples that I couldn't get on with. You may have more luck than me!

Stokey · 08/07/2016 13:24

I keep meaning to post and say thanks for the Fire recommendation MissB, I do like it.

Did anyone pick up anything from the 4160 offer? I got a 30ml bottle of Ealing Green which I really like as a summer scent - fresh grass and lime - and blind bought Centrepiece, as a couple of reviews said it was like Coromandel. I tried it about two hours ago and got very strong Frangipani, it smelt like marzipan or almond food colouring on me. It's now fading to a more vanillay smell, a bit more like Coromandel. I don't think it's love though. Has anyone else tried it?

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 08/07/2016 13:56

I LOVE centrepiece Stokey i only have a tiny sample though but would love a full bottle. maybe one day when finances are a better for frivolous buying Smile

MissB i loved mother natures naughty daughters, the firstof them ive tried. it smells so jammy to start with and rich, like sponge puddings on winters evenings

schmalex · 08/07/2016 19:04

I'm off to 4160 for a workshop tomorrow - can't wait!

SOTD was a sample of Prada Candy I found at the bottom of my sewing basket (!) I am not a fan, very sickly sweet (clue was in the name I suppose).

MissBattleaxe · 08/07/2016 19:35

schmalex- Lucky you! I visited the studio just over a year ago and nearly fainted with jealousy when I saw the famous Wall of Scent.

Stokey- you're welcome! I love Fire.

I didn't like Centrepiec. It was a bit meh. Frangipani and green tea, if memory serves. I do love Ealing Green though.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 08/07/2016 21:15

SOTE is L'Aimant. My mum wore this when I was small, so at times I drench myself in this just to try to transport myself back in time. I remember sneaking a spray or two in the bathroom when I was little. It is soooo comforting, even now, to spray L'Aimant. It is such a cosy, creamy fragrance.

I wear it so much at night that I think THIS is the scent my children will remember me by, as they line up for their night time hugs. Funny how the cycle goes round.

MissBattleaxe · 08/07/2016 23:44

LastGirl- that's so lovely! I wear L'Aimant too to remind me of my late grandmother. For many years I couldn't wear it as it was too emotional, but now I wear it and love it in tribute to her. I'm never without one and I cannot believe how cheap it is for such good quality. It was launched in 1927 and it'sstill good.

CoolCarrie · 09/07/2016 00:03

L'Aimant is a lovely soft perfume. I am looking for a frangipani like perfume.
Any suggestions at all?

Wearing Lily of the Valley by Penhaligon by day, and Love Potion number 9 at night. Also loved Maybe Baby, stocked up loads before it was discontinued.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 09/07/2016 01:48

lastgirl my mum always wore L'Aimant too. I don't get it out often as it's a bit raw still since she passed away but i'd never be without it like missbattleaxe says. it always smells of baby powder and flowers to me

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 09/07/2016 10:12

It is a beautiful fragrance. It certainly does smell like baby powder and flowers. It is the kind of scent that just wraps around you in a big, comforting hug kind of way.
