Smile MissBattleaxe it is gorgeous, isn't it? Just such a soft, comforting scent and I feel so nice when I wear it.

SOTD was Donna Karan for Women. Another classic and just right for the warmer, clammy weather. I remember teaching in a girls' school years ago and so many of the girls wore it...it was definitely the fashionable scent! So when I wear it I feel like a bit of an oldie trying to be young but it is just so lovely I do it anyway!! Grin

MsBojangles · 11/06/2016 20:07

That's what I was afraid of MissB. Shipping to Italy is also a no go presumably, unless there is a clever way round it...?

SoTE is Midnight in the Palace Garden over the top of a milky, almondish body cream...it's really bringing out the coffee notes, heavenly!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 11/06/2016 20:16

MsB if you have enough left I too would love a decant - thank you so much! Flowers

I'm in NI for my sins. I bought Houbigant after reading your posts and it is just sublime.

cressetmama · 11/06/2016 20:44

I wrap scent samples carefully and call it lipstick, left behind after a visit. N
Never fails.

MsBojangles · 11/06/2016 21:06

Haha, thank you, cresset knew you'd pick up on my not so subtle hint Grin

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 11/06/2016 21:12

That is so clever, cresset!!

SoTE is Goldea by Bvlgari. I got a sample and the spiel on the little card said it was inspired by the sun (the real thing, not the useless rag). It reminds me a lot of Chopard Wish, but slightly warmer and not as sweet. I am considering buying it as I do like it!!

teta · 11/06/2016 21:15

Have you all bought Orange et fleurs?
I'm been sitting on my hands not to buy this.
As I already have Penhaligon's Orange Blossom and California Reverie ( which is the most delicious combination of neroli, frangipani and Jasmine).I don't need another orange blossom Fragrance.
Or do I?

MsBojangles · 11/06/2016 21:33

You're the one that enabled started the Houbigant love, teta. I was perfectly content with my Jo Malone until I started swooning at the thought of OB and tuberose!

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 11/06/2016 21:37

I can confirm that Cresset has no trouble sending perfume to Italy, and when she does, it is beautifully packaged indeed! (and prompted me to do slightly more than old jiffy bag in return! Grin)

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 11/06/2016 22:06

Yes I have it teta. I don't know the scents you mentioned, but Orangers en Fleurs is beautiful and unlike anything else in my collection. It is so evocative.

I am loving Goldea right now....the drydown is yum! I'm definitely getting his come payday!!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 11/06/2016 22:09

This!!!

I also have to buy Prada Sport Lunea something or other for DH after he tried a sample I had. For Father's Day. He usually wears 212 pour homme which I HATE, so I am very glad he has decided he loves the Prada one. It is very delicious, though!

MissBattleaxe · 11/06/2016 22:14

I know of someone who gets round it by packing samples in a tic tac box.

cressetmama · 12/06/2016 15:25

I am a shameless liar at post offices Blush. Some of you know this. Sorry to any PO counter staff, but I really cannot believe that a few ml of EdT is likely to do anything dangerous on a plane. I probably wouldn't want to send an expensive FB, just in case it got broken, but I have bought bottles from Nose in Paris and decants from the US arrive without problem. A little bubble wrap and some cardboard works magic.

teta · 12/06/2016 18:30

There are no issues with having perfume sent into the UK - that's legal. But we can't send out - or we can, but then we run the risk of it being destroyed. But that's not such a disaster if it's decants. However expensive full bottles are not such a good idea. The rules really are totally bizarre.
We're also supposed to send a maximum of two bottles in its original packaging within the UK post at any one time.So if you send many little decants tape them all together.
Sotd is by Rose Perfection by Piguet. Its my favourite summer Rose.La fille de Berlin is my all-time favourite Winter Rose.

YetAnotherNC · 12/06/2016 19:12

teta do you like Fracas? Is it just Rose perfection from Piguet that you like, or do you like other fragrances from this house? I'm interested because I totally love Fracas, but also like strong rose scents. Wondering whether to try it or just to carry on wearing Joy when I need a rose blast...

teta · 12/06/2016 19:37

I think it's quite different to Fracas. Its a very 'pink' Rose with Ambroxan and Musk. Its not overwhelmingly powerful like Fracas but is still very much evident. It reminds me of the Roses I used to pick as a child .I used to pinch the neighbours Roses to make perfume ,on rainy days for some reason.
The only other Piguet I've tried is Petit Fracas which I dislike.
Have you tried La Fille de Berlin or Nahema. Both are beautiful roses and can be sampled in scentsamples.co.uk.Sadly they don't have Rose Perfection.Other lovely Roses are Roses Musk or Crystal flowers by Montale

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 14/06/2016 20:23

I got Fire today and all I can say is WOW!! I love it!! I love how it reminds me of sizzling summer afternoons, crisp Spring mornings, and Winter evenings as the fog rolls in and the deep, dark night descends. The heady fragrance of incense reminds me of silent nights at chapel with candlelight shining. Yet the rose and tuberose reign like a glorious garden.

Just beautiful - and both my mum at 78 and my daughter at 3 both sniffed the air and exclaimed they LOVED how I smelled! I particularly loved it when my work colleague strove past me then declared how nice it smelled in the office for once.

A winner.Smile

ggirl · 14/06/2016 22:03

what a beautiful and perfect description LastGirlOnTheLeft
i wish there was a handbag size of it

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 14/06/2016 22:09

Thanks gg! Smile it is so lovely.

teta · 15/06/2016 10:04

Lastgirlontheleft it sounds lovely on you.I'm glad it suits you.
Beige by Chanel today, its such a beautiful easy to wear perfume. But you can't buy it online. So how do you buy it when you live a long way from London ?

cressetmama · 15/06/2016 13:55

I think there is a handbag spray size of Fire.... could be wrong though, I think I remember the assistant mentioning it.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 15/06/2016 19:15

Thanks teta. Chanel Beige sounds gorgeous. I looked it up online and couldn't believe the price!!Shock I have no idea where else you could get it.

cressetmama · 15/06/2016 20:10

Big airport duty free shops for the Chanel exclusifs at the best price. You don't pay the VAT; that's the discount. Book a holiday out of Heathrow T4 or T5.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 15/06/2016 20:13

Stansted has the exclusifs as well, oddly. That is where my passion for Coromandel was born.
Sotd- the opposite end of the ££ spectrum, Yves Rocher Essences de Neroli. Bloody lovely. And I got it on one of those insane YR offers where the first thing in your basket is totally free!

wiltingfast · 15/06/2016 22:05

God! I'm gonna have to just go buy Fire! Everyone loves it Grin where did ye all get it again? Stupid dh has done nothing NOTHING for my birthday so think I might buy myself L'air du desert marocain while I'm at it!
