Right, here we go!

For those of you who don't rememeber the rules, this is about feeling better about yourself so is not necessarily a diet per se but it is for six weeks, starting tomorrow.

The Rules

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. I'm going for hard core 6 weeks of no drinking but the odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy
  • Have more sex (if it makes you happier to do so)

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Who's in?

I'm up for this!

Thanks.

Chandra · 01/01/2007 18:40

Thanks, I guess I'll have to concentrate in drinking more water and going to sleep earlier...

Monkeytrousers · 01/01/2007 18:44

I'm in

SnafuOutOfHiding · 01/01/2007 18:47

I'm in, and I am absolutely, completely, definitely going to stick to it this time.

Except the sex... I guess I'll have to replace that with 'Do more work'

Monkeytrousers · 01/01/2007 18:53

..although I have been very bad today eating lots of cream cheese

SnafuOutOfHiding · 01/01/2007 18:54

Can I finish this box of chocolates first, though?

WideWebWitch · 01/01/2007 18:55

HOMEWORK FOR WEEK 1,

Read this happiness manifesto, here I'm pinning it to the wall in front of me at work.

Yes, you can finish the chocolates. Today I have been cleaning out my fridge to remove temptation. So I just had to eat leftoer rare beef and lemon torte and brie with redcurrant sauce and a bacon sandwich and some chocolates and er, letting the side down a bit, lentil hotpot for supper. Plus no booze but may drink a couple of glasses of wine tonight in advance of day 1 tomorrow.

Good idea, www. I could certainly do with a bit of that in 2007.

I also read that it's a good idea to keep a 'happiness diary' - every day you have to write down one thing - no matter how tiny or insignificant to anyone else - that made you happy. It can be anything from 'Got married today' to 'Ate a really delicious chocolate today' Anything at all.

The idea is that a) you'll start thinking more about the things that make you happy and do more of them and b) at the end of the year you'll have a whole year's worth of lovely stuff to look back on.

I think it's a top idea and I'm going to try it.

SnafuOutOfHiding · 01/01/2007 19:02

@ 'cleaning out the fridge'...

iota · 01/01/2007 19:10

I'm in - but principally to try and lose that half a stone that appeared at Xmas

Zog · 01/01/2007 19:24

I'm definitely in - got to go and put the kids to bed, back in a minute.

beinganevilstepmomsucks · 01/01/2007 19:33

i would love to do this! hmm...today i got a dress, a top, a skirt and a jacket for £14 total (!) in the next sale! does that count as a happy thought or is that just bragging?!? (sorry, didn't mean to!!)

mancmum · 01/01/2007 19:35

Me too! look like death so should be easy to make some improvements, I hope... can not look this bad for rest of life.... can I?

fullmoonfiend · 01/01/2007 19:49

winnie · 01/01/2007 19:53

WWW at clearing out the fridge!

Yep, I am in too

Enid · 01/01/2007 19:55

sort of in - am doing the no booze - well actually one glass of wine on Friday and sat nights, the walking and the sleeping. Oh and the water. Must lose the half a stone of pate and quality street I seem to have been given for Xmas.

I don't want to be on mumsnet very much during Jan though

Enid · 01/01/2007 19:57

I am NOT planting something

I have a huge garden surrounding me going to rack and ruin

does paying someone to plant something for you count?

jampots · 01/01/2007 19:58

im in too - have joined lardy ladies weight loss too. This year I will reach my goals!!!!

Zog · 01/01/2007 20:00

yeah right enid

I'm so glad you've posted this www - saw previous ones you've done but never saw them at the beginning, so didn't join.

Just need to eat my own bodyweight in chocolates before I can start...

fullmoonfiend · 01/01/2007 20:00

hmmm if I'm going to have more sex, it's going to have to mean less MN...

(eeny, meeny, miny, mo...)

winnie · 01/01/2007 20:10

fullmoonfiend

sis · 01/01/2007 20:20

I'm in but I'm not reporting in about whether I met the 'more sex' rule or not!

yoyo · 01/01/2007 20:28

Hurrah! I am in but probably not in fully until the w/e (far too much BAD stuff left in fridge). Cheese will be binned by end of tonight, chocolates already sorted (kids have enough to last until Summer), crisps (will appear for DS's birthday party - kids do like cracked pepper don't they?), mince pies in bin, alcohol - oh deary me, where do I start? No spirits open but some fab bottles of wine and champagne very tempting. I will do my best. Chocolate society hot chocolate - only to be used in week before period.

Have Jo Malone body stuff which I will apply daily. Ditto Clarins hand cream. DH and MIL are stars. Also have Mega-mushroom stuff which is great for my red cheeks.
Feeling much more cheerful already!

WideWebWitch · 01/01/2007 20:39

No-one has to report on the sex! Enid, I reckon for me, appreciating my Magnolia tree, which is outside the front door and I see every morning counts. As does paying someone If you're not going to be here much, well, just report at the end of Jan maybe?
