Right, here we go!

For those of you who don't rememeber the rules, this is about feeling better about yourself so is not necessarily a diet per se but it is for six weeks, starting tomorrow.

The Rules

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. I'm going for hard core 6 weeks of no drinking but the odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy
  • Have more sex (if it makes you happier to do so)

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Who's in?

Feel terrible today for drinking last night but that's good, will only do so one night a week. And had a lie in, courtesy of a ds who was feeling guilty about his behaviour last night so didn;t wake up until 10.30 so reckon I had 10 hours sleep.

1lb is NOTHING Sobernow!

OK, we're on week two from tomorrow, will start a new thread tonight.

Sobernow, when I was walking in my lunch hours last week and HATING it I was very motivated by you - Batters, it was her - saying you'd gone from a size 18 to a 12 and that walking 30 mins every day was part of what you did. Do I remember that it was from May - August? In which case, wow.

does anyone else seem to come a cropper if they don't eat regular meals? If I snack rather than have a proper dinner then it all goes tits up by 9pm.

I' m off to write myself out a low-GI based regular meal plan for the next week.

SnafuOutOfHiding · 07/01/2007 12:50

Hmmm, mixed success chez Snaf...

The bad: did have one small glass of red last night, but I don't feel too guilty about that. In all probability I will be drinking on Weds night (post-exam) so won't have anything else this week - and try not to go OTT on Weds!
Also scarfed down Indian meal loaded with sat fats last night - oops.
Am still morally opposed to exercise of any sort, I'm afraid...

The good: have been fanatical with the moisturiser/sunblock!
This morning have had 2x smoothies, an orange, a banana and a bag of seeds.
Am going to have homemade soup, celery and hummous for lunch.
Drinking more water, too.
Got a good night's sleep because ds was at his dad's...

The really good: Bought two skirts yesterday size 12-14 - and am going to have to take them both back because they're TOO BIG!!!! Huzzah!

WideWebWitch · 07/01/2007 14:17

SW, I think the trick is absolutely to eat regular meals and snacks, just healthy ones. Last week I had apples on my desk so when I was hungry that's what I had.

Ok, I've showered using moisturising hair mask, exfoliated my face, used body lotion all over and heel cream and I feel good.

Eating puy lentils with 1 slice proscuitto and capers for lunch and had 2 slices toast and Marmite for breakfast. No idea what's for supper yet, salmon maybe.

I've been reading magazines this morning too and I fancy the Neris and India Knight diet book, off to find out if it's published yet.

AND I used hand cream. And actually, that should be in the rules since bad hands can massively age a person.

interesting book www... thanks
Have had a good day again but still need to really get into the exercise and drink more water. I am drinking shiraz tonight BUT it's the first for days and it is the weekend. The pampering is going really well (funny that) Am feeling happier today which can only be good.

Onwards and upwards everyone

swedishmum · 07/01/2007 21:27

Bad day, neighbour's fab birthday at local v posh hotel therefore champagne, (said no to canapes), gorgeous 3 course meal. At least I didn't eat breadroll or have milk in coffee or petit fours. Also drank loads of water. However did drink as other neighbours drove us there. Looked pretty good - for me. Good thing no-one could see the Spanx and pop socks under my wide legged trousers

Monkeytrousers · 07/01/2007 21:30

Oh TOTALLY Suzy. I am majorly f'ed off with myself!

unknownrebelbang · 07/01/2007 21:36

Managed the exercise bike for 1/2 hour last night, but did succumb and have a bottle of cider too.

Eaten the last of the Christmas excess today, and plan to start properly tomorrow.

swedishmum · 07/01/2007 21:47

Promised about 4 people I'd join the tennis club, so I'd better do it... will sign up for lessons tomorrow. May ask sil if I can have a go on her court first, just so I don't look too silly.
