Right, here we go!

For those of you who don't rememeber the rules, this is about feeling better about yourself so is not necessarily a diet per se but it is for six weeks, starting tomorrow.

The Rules

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. I'm going for hard core 6 weeks of no drinking but the odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy
  • Have more sex (if it makes you happier to do so)

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Who's in?

I am feeling sorry for myself. Two days without coffee & alcohol and I have the headache from hell AND two days of exercising has locked my back... Woe is me... this getting healthy thing is painful

sunnywong · 03/01/2007 11:57

hello
I 've been good today, very good. Water, walked 3 miles, not junk apart from sharing ds2's crisps after the swimming

But, I need some liposuction on my jelly blubbering middleaged spread gut. It was lubba-da-lubb-da-ing at me while I was reading stories at bedtiime to the kids. It jsut sprawled out of the top of my jeans. Will it ever go?

Anyway, do carry on everyone

filthymindedvixen · 03/01/2007 18:17

been in bed all day, poorly. have eaten lots of fruit, drunk lots of water, and lying around all day has meant I have had loads of time to cover myself with unguents so will have the softest feet and smoothest bum on MN Hoorah (for small mercies)

WideWebWitch · 03/01/2007 18:42

Winnie, I feel terrible too. I look bloody awful as well, all red faced and ugly and blotchy. I'm really hoping it improves sometime soon, it's most annoying.

But I walked for 40 minutes at lunchtime and ate 2 apples, a small banana, a smoked salmon sandwich, at least 2 litres of water and I bought some Clinque Super City block so will use that tomorrow.

I got home and ex dh had brought ds home AND has also brought some gorgeous fattening rotli and sag, made with cabbage and carrots so I ate 4 rotli (which have butter on, oh no!) and quite a bit of saag. Lovely ex mil, very kind of her to send it and I just couldn't resist. But that's supper, more or less and very nice it was too. It probably isn't that bad and at least it was veggie so not too fattening.

Well done everyone. I was trying to visualise at lunchtime how wonderful I will feel and look in 6 weeks and it helped.

Must be MIL's!

Forcing Thorntons and Pringles one me. Well they are all gone now

SnafuOutOfHiding · 03/01/2007 20:38

Heeeelllp! I'm not doing very well and I have fallen off my weekday wagon already.

My excuse is that I have a BIG EXAM in 6 days time and I can't think about fruit and sunblock. (Although, umm, I clearly can think about posting on MN...)

God, I am so crap, I feel ashamed. Motivate me, please?!

Pann · 03/01/2007 20:59

have been in bed all day as well as filthymindedvixen....so been drinking fruit juice, and have just demolished a £1.50 bar of dairy milk with caramel........surely good in the 'happiness' accounting. Signed off work for a week!! So plenty of time to focus on happiness manifesto....and sleep!!!

Pann · 03/01/2007 21:03

Snafu - see www's 'visualisation' technique below.

And, when a famous golfer was trying to slim a couple of years ago, and did, he was interviewed on the radio, and said what motivated him was the knowledge that " Nothing tasted better than slim feels". You can ammend that to something like "No wine tastes as good as feeling relaxed and vital will feel" or some such???

swedishmum · 03/01/2007 21:38

This is my danger hour. Still lots of Hotel Chocolat stuff and wine in the house. Dd3 (nearly 3) is being vile tonight as dh went abroad at 30 mins notice this afternoon (not unusual). Just got v cross with her when she got out of bed yet again, but haven't grabbed a glass. Pity to waste all my hard work - apricots, plums and figs for breakfast, tuna and loads of salad for lunch and veg/tofu stir fry tonight. Lots of water too.

controlfreaky2 · 03/01/2007 21:42

am in.... but can i start properly next week when ds's are back at school?? will eat up all chocolate and drink lots water not wine to get me in the mood. tia

Monkeytrousers · 03/01/2007 21:51

I gave lots of choc away

winnie · 03/01/2007 22:37

I've had quite a good day again (once the headache and backache went). Sorry you are feeling rubbish too WWW. I think it always gets worse before it gets better.
I should be in bed but have to stay up to await dd's homecoming

theincredibleshrinkinglady · 03/01/2007 23:00

Can I join with a shameless plug? I'm a regular mner (but don't really want to out myself!) and I'm trying to get on the healthy eating/feel better wagon and raise a few pounds for a special charity whilst I'm at it.
If you are up for donating the price of a coffee, please take a glance at this
Thankyou x

arfishyheauheauheau · 04/01/2007 00:04

Oooh. I'm so in. I have morphed into the lardiest lard beast. Yesterday I was finally unable to squeeze my arse into the last of the skirts from my suitcase that I originally bought over with me (ie when I was 2 sizes smaller).

I'm starting on Monday though, Thursday is too far through the week.

I will watch and be motivated (and drink wine) until then.

unknownrebelbang · 04/01/2007 00:05

Got given a box of cadbury's coated biscuits today, which was not very helpful...

Plenty of water, but not enough fruit today.

Wednesday is not a good day foodwise generally cos it's chaos in the Bang household due to the lads' commitments.

Oh hum, am off to bed and no alcohol - must end on a positive, lol.

Monkeytrousers · 04/01/2007 00:09

Me too much alcahol now - I am hopeless

sassy · 04/01/2007 08:41

Can I join in?

Feeling a bit bleugh after xmas, could do with a kick up the bum. Be nice to lose the last 10lbs of baby weight too. (OK, dd2 is 2yo next wk, its not really baby weight anymore..)

Zog · 04/01/2007 09:54

Wow, everyone's doing so well! I gave up caffieine before Christmas, so just need to up my water consumption. Have got in loads of fruit and veg and binned the chocs

Someone asked further down about sunscreen but I didn't see an answer - is a moisturiser with SPF 15 OK or do I need something stronger?

Monkeytrousers · 04/01/2007 10:12

Right - green tea and a pear this morning

Monkeytrousers · 04/01/2007 10:13

I think that's fine Zog, but WWW has the call

Dinosaur · 04/01/2007 10:17

Can I join, please? I did body cream and heel balm last night after bath (good) but had a bottle of Becks and a 1 1/2 glasses of red wine (bad) plus fried bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms for tea.

On the plus side I have walked to work this morning (about 25 minutes).

Monkeytrousers · 04/01/2007 10:28

We holed up by gale force winds. Will do 100 sit ups, promise

prufrock · 04/01/2007 10:44

Well yesterday went quite well - still no sunblock, but I only went outside once it was dark so I think I get away with it. Though that did mean no walking - but am taking Roger the dog for a big trek in a bit, and did do a yoga dvd last night.
Slathered myself in various body-part specific creams on Tuesday night, and have been in bed (though still reading) by 10pm. And no alcohol yet!

But like others I feel like crap. And I have a row of red spots along my jawline. But it will get better. It will be worth it.

winnie · 04/01/2007 10:59

Batters, you are convincing me I should try the Liz Earle body lotion but I seem to have a lot of unopened body lotions so must get into the habit of using it by trying them first. I don't quite understand how I have so many unopened body lotions This Liz Earle habit cost me a fortune but I just can't kick it

Yesterday was an ok day but after a very stressful night with dd I have woken up with a headache again. I can't decide whether it is stress or the detox now. Anyway I am going to increase my happiness quota today by meeting up with my dear friend. Which will be lovely.
