Right, here we go!

For those of you who don't rememeber the rules, this is about feeling better about yourself so is not necessarily a diet per se but it is for six weeks, starting tomorrow.

The Rules

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. I'm going for hard core 6 weeks of no drinking but the odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy
  • Have more sex (if it makes you happier to do so)

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Who's in?

I did have a little red wine last night but have only eaten lots of salad with a little tuna and fruit and yogurt today.

Well done everyone.

I still feel and look grim but I'm hoping I'll break through some barrier or other and just start feeling better next week. Anyone who started this at the beginning, we are ONLY on DAY FOUR, don't give up yet!

100g Granola for breakfast
blueberries and raspberries as a snack
an apple
puy lentils with lemon juice, black pepper and a tiny bit of feta for lunch
another 2 apples
and about to eat some potato and peas and a couple of chapatis
and we are having poussin for supper
Am still off wine and staying off, this is day 4
Walked for half an hour at lunchtime
wearing SPF15
drank at least 2 litres of water
used body cream this morning
used foot cream last night

I am an EXAMPLE to you all, I tell you!

MT, no, not spectacular results but mainly because I give up half way. But I usually do look a lot better after some exercise and no booze!

OP posts:
unknownrebelbang · 05/01/2007 19:12

No alcohol, plenty water.

Sums up my day (pleading the fifth on food still, but getting there...)

Major breakthrough...exercise bike back in the house and WILL be used tomorrow. Early night needed more than exercise as this moment in time.

winnie · 06/01/2007 08:59

it's all going ok.
Although everyday I am waking up with a headache!
I am eating lots of fruit and veg. no alcohol. have had only two coffees all week.lots of pampering of body. need to drink a bit more water. also need to do more exercise.
had a bit of a blip yesterday & ate some turkish delight but as that was due to stress caused by family meltdown I am not dwelling on the eating of td but sadly am dwelling on the family meltdown and definitely need to work on being happier.

well done everyone

sunnywong · 06/01/2007 09:03

hello
monkeytrousers 100 sit-ups? did you buy one of those rollinng devices from QVC

I have doing OK, lots of wholefoods and good breakfasts and water but I need my red wine, I really do for the anti oxidants, it's the law.

I splashed out on a new bike today and rode 6 miles along the river... and then crashed out cold for 90 minutes.
What, dear?
Old Gimmer, dear?
Me, dear?
No, dear.

WideWebWitch · 06/01/2007 10:11

lol sw. Winnie, I reckon the odd td is ok at stressful times.

I went upstairs to read at 7pm last night and woke up at 9.30pm! (dh dealt with children being put to bed) I felt exhaustion like you wouldn't believe. And then I went back to bed at 12.30 and slept until 9am, when the children woke me (they came and gave me a cuddle at 8 and went downstairs on their own, bliss!) So that's 11 hours sleep since 7pm last night. I feel ok this morning, not surprisingly but still look crap. I'm having my hair done later and seriously wondering about going brunette again but think it's probably best not to make any drastic changes until I'm a bit happier about how I look. Hair I hate would just not be good atm.

so far so good and new regime seems to be working.. no booze since NYE and no cravings... also have leanrnt something new about skin care used regularly cheaper stuff seems to work just as well as the more expensive... I used to be a creme de la mer addict but then read a which report on skin care from US Where they did loads of proper tests on anti aging effectiveness... most where shown to be useless which i think we do know but the one that came top and was shown to be a bit effective was Olay regenerist which Iw ould never have thought have buiying... new year destituation made me give it a go, and so far am very impressed...

WideWebWitch · 06/01/2007 10:39

Well, apparently Joanna Lumley uses the same moisturiser as I do, which is cheapo Astral.

marthaepsilonmoo · 06/01/2007 10:57

I'll join you when I've eaten all the cheese.

iota · 06/01/2007 11:13

I am so crap that I haven't started yet

I've had the worst cold in the world this week and I am as limp as a lettuce leaf even though I haven't been eating them

Next week - new me - diet, exercise, the lot

Zog · 06/01/2007 11:37

Well, this morning I am as slippery as an eel from top to toe having slathered myself in some body lotion I found lurking in a cupboard. Heels done, face done, need to work on the walking (still not done any ) and upping the water.

(Also ate half a bar of Green & Blacks and a chinese takeaway last night but don't tell WWW )

Zog · 06/01/2007 11:37

Must say though, please keep posting what you're eating everyone as I'm getting some great ideas

CAMy · 06/01/2007 12:13

Had no alcohol yesterday at all but did succumb to a couple or three of Christmas chocs.

Sleep, moisturiser, water, all good. Haven't been outside as its raining and set in for the day on the coast.

swedishmum · 06/01/2007 14:25

Red wine last night was a mistake. Didn't have much but didn't eat much either. Now have to go to cinema without any Minstrels in my handbag.

prufrock · 06/01/2007 16:40

Well I went to the cinema on Thursday night and had only a hot chocolate. Ok so water would have been better, but at least I passed on popcorn, coke and chocs.

Did drink 1/2 - well actually 5/6ths of a bottle of Cava left over from Xmas last night. But it was Friday, and I didn't feel too bad this am. Had a facial and eyebrows threaded this morning, and then took dog for a walk without the kids so actualy got some decent exercise for an hour. Lunch today was sushi, and dinner will be rissotto but without the parmesan.

WideWebWitch · 06/01/2007 18:00

Save me from childrens tea! I jsut made 3 of them (ds has friend here) bits and pieces on a plate, which is what it sounds like and one of the things was wholemeal toast with peanut butter, which 2 of them left. I ate 2 soldier sized pieces and a brazil nut and I had to leave the kitchen or I'd have eaten more peanut butter.

But a good day. No exercise but had toast and Marmite for breakfast, lentils/lemon juice/feta (20g) for lunch, blueberries and an apple as a snack and the aforementioned toast.

And we didn't have the poussin last night so are having it tonight instead. And this is day 5 of no booze.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 06/01/2007 18:01

Oh and I suddenly DO look a LOT better. My skin and eyes are better, dh agrees.

Food improving.

Am about to go and re-acquaint myself with the exercise bike........

WideWebWitch · 06/01/2007 19:40

I want a drink. I really, really want a glass of cold dry white wine. Ds has just been vile to me and we have a lovely smelling spatchcocked poussin in the oven...

I might allow myself to drink tonight.
