Thanks linus I did see on a website that they don't tend to discount there but that could be BS Grin but v helpful to see that it may be cheaper than EUR, that's what threw me... I forgot it wasn't euro till I'd booked flights..

blair thanks v much, I've saved that website for any future purchases.. On this occasion though I'd like to have the whole experience of taking him into a shop and picking his watch iykwim..

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 11/09/2015 21:50

Of course! And I forgot to say the whole thing sounds lovely. You have loads of time to research so I'm sure you'll find the right place to buy it, and have a great time in Switzerland wherever you get the watch :)

Drywhitethanks · 11/09/2015 22:37

I'm all London ready! Bag packed, tomorrow night's ensemble chosen LBD ofcourse very light packing misaculous . Am going to ignore the momentous visa bill that arrived today. My official list comprises of a heatec (sp?) from Uniqlo Regent St..............the unofficial list is a bit longer Wink

Drywhitethanks · 11/09/2015 22:38

Am I really going to neon to buy a vest? Grin

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 11/09/2015 23:01

Dry have you been on the Wine, your spelling has become a little... iffy Grin

maradesbois · 12/09/2015 00:34

conscious black leather cluster (same shape as crisi but full leather). Will get them by hook or by crook!

Dry have a fab weekend.

QueenC I would say keep your cash and put towards a chanel even if it's not for right now. It's a forever bag, an investment.

happy Swiss franc is £££, I'd either buy in eurozone or at Geneva airport tax free as outside eu. Also second Linus about asking for discount. It's very standard in jewellery/horlogerie, you should get 10% off with minimal negotiation. Your trip sounds amazing btw. Have been for lunch at that hotel but never stayed there. Lucky dh!

Drank a bottle of champagne earlier with dh, 1995 so nearly half my age Shock. My head is spinning

Drywhitethanks · 12/09/2015 07:52

Ignoring the rubbish weather up here, having faith in the met ofgice forecast for sunshine in London

shopafrolic · 12/09/2015 07:59

Light cloud today Dry no rain. Have fun x

QueenofCardigans · 12/09/2015 08:06

Have a fab time dry. You've reminded me that I need to order more heatech as I wore one every day in winter. Can't wait to see your purchases.

Once ive got all the money I'll probably just head to London and look at chanels and others and see what sings to me. It's all very well loving something online but handbags need to be felt for their softness/buterryness or am I just a weirdo? Grin

Lazy day here. Might try out my new steam cleaner...

HappyGirlNow · 12/09/2015 08:35

Aw thank you so much mara v helpful! Flowers

I suppose I am a little worried we wait until we are at the airport then there is nothing he likes.. Is there a lot of choice? I guess there must be at that airport?

How much would duty free typically save? Also is it still the done thing to ask for a discount there? Our flight home is at 10:20am, are the airport shops open early? I guess themn must be..

Sorry, as you can see I am useless haha I haven't ever really shopped duty free.. Blush

Yes hotel looks amazing - very excited myself! Was looking at the dining.. Doesn't look like it's got a michelin star but looks amazing nonetheless.. And I couldn't see on the hotel site but there's mention of a tasting menu being available elsewhere on the web so we'll no doubt do that withbathe matching wines Grin

Now what to wear.. It's only 5 months away.. Heehee

LinusLovesBretons · 12/09/2015 08:37

Morning!

Off into town on my own for a couple of hours whilst DH looks after the DC.

I agree queenc you need to see and feel a bag before buying it. And also see how it looks on you and your body.

Have fun dry!

maradesbois · 12/09/2015 09:32

Morning,

Adding years to myself, 1995 is more than half my age away just

Sun is shining here atm dry, hope it continues for you.

QueenC if you want a shopping companion to check out the chanels with give me a shout, would be more than happy Smile

Happy not sure as never bought a watch at airport. One of dh's friends did but checked it all out beforehand to see they had the exact model he wanted etc.

We are going to the seaside, not exactly beach weather but will be fun nonetheless.

QueenofCardigans · 12/09/2015 11:57

I'll hold you to that mara.
Just nipped quickly to shops as I needed to pick up more stuff for dd (she'll soon have a better wardrobe than me). Popped into h&m and bought this blouse. Love it. Perfect combo of navy, pine green and ice blue.
lib and karcheer they had lots of £9.99 cardis in autumn colours.

Larastheme · 12/09/2015 17:48

No time to catch up, but queen, I'll give you my two cents, the Woc is a very great, versatile bag, I love using it as its a cross body, and light and I can fit most of my essentials in them ,but , its a very casual bag I don't think it looks nice with dressed up outfits, for dinner..etc, as I wear very high heels and worn on the shoulder,It looks kinda wrong , and if you will treat this purchase as the mother of all purchases and if you won't something to wear in 10-15 years time, < your style ,and taste might change but a classic bag wont,>then I don't think it fits that category,I think for you something like the small flap is a better option as it fits your style more,it can be worn casually with one strap, or more dressed up with double, , I agree that you need to go and have a look around, and try all the styles,

libertydoddle · 12/09/2015 22:59

QueenC I have been mentally debating your possible Chanel bag purchase all day . On one hand I am excited and pleased for you but on the other hand i think you are a bit mad! I say this because no bag however classic or lovely can cover all situations. I think you and I have similar budgets and if I spent that much on anything S&B related it would really have to deliver on CPW.

Secondly, I refer you to amber's comment above where she said how versatile the WOC is but that her next bag will be a Chanel flap. Could it be that one is never enough with these beauties?????

Another rule of thumb for me on big purchases is to consider if I could afford to replace it if anything happened to it. Does household insurance cover bags? How bad would you feel if one of the DC knocked over your latte and it went all over your bag?

Finally....you didn't wear an £80 top for ages as you were afraid of spoiling it! Would the Chanel ever actually see the light of day? If it's just going to sit in it's dust bag then you definitely should not buy it.

I hope I am not pouring cold water all over a dream. If it's something you really, truly want and know you will love and use for a long, long time then go for it and I will be first in the queue to coo over it at the next MU.

Kitty, I always joked I was a shopaholic, I have found the last few months w/o buying clothes much more difficult than I anticipated . I have great casual clothes but I feel I need a few nice dresses for going out (would love a DVF zarita in the long) but it will have to wait. Sob! Lots of my stuff is in storage and I had to go out with a stylish friend last week in jeans. I normally feel so comfortable in jeans but I felt very dowdy.

I think a Chanel WOC would perfectly suit your style, QueenC but how would you feel if it got a scratch or whatever? I think you are like me in that way (are you a classic, is that one of the traits?) and I would be so bummed if that happened! My mum had a larger Chanel black bag that I gave to my aunt when my mum died (I wasn't into bags really then and it seemed too old to me. Sorry now but I can't exactly ask for it back).

Liberty the 4yo is so happy, it's like she never lived anywhere but here! Loves her Montessori. I think she has forgotten her first four years in London! DD1 has made a few friends in school and seems happy enough, invited to parties already but when she is tired, says she misses her old school, which was fantastic and a tough act to follow. In case anyone does a search for schools for next year, both my kids went to Barnes Primary School/nursery and it was absolutely amazing! Certainly deserves a shout out.

Mara it is compulsory to learn Irish in school here but not all Irish speaking. How is your DS doing?

Best of luck on Monday, Shop. x

QueenofCardigans · 13/09/2015 07:19

Morning. Thanks for all the comments about the chanel. lib you're not pouring cold water over my dream at all. I've had exactly the same thoughts. A Chanel has always been a dream that I thought would never happen. Damn dh for wanting to make it a reality Grin. I don't think I ever could spend that much on a bag especially as I looked at the website yesterday and I'm sure the prices have gone up since I last looked Hmm. Anyway I don't need to make any decisions yet as I don't have all the money.

cranagh glad that you are all settling in. My dd was 4 when we moved and she pretty much forgot about london straight away too.

Just about to have breakfast and then my usual indulgence of fantasy shopping.....

What's the point in a coat with cut out bits

Stokey · 13/09/2015 07:52

When I saw the label for that QueenC, I was expecting something Sherlock Holmes esque. But it's actually lovely. I had a dream about you last night. I bumped into you shopping in New York - somewhere I've never been- weird!

Hope everyone is having good weekends. I kept the Gap jeans but after wearing them for aa couple of days, I think maybe I should have sized down. They're quite tight everywhere but get loose on the waist during the day and end up slipping towards my hips with dreaded muffin top potential.

QueenofCardigans · 13/09/2015 07:54

vegas, would you like some furry mary janes

QueenofCardigans · 13/09/2015 07:55

Ooh stokey lets make your dream a reality!

QueenofCardigans · 13/09/2015 07:55

And yes, the coat is lovely but think of the cold bits
