Not quite sure how that went so quickly. Continuing the search for stylish bargains. Lurkers welcome - bring links and a smile :)

Evening!

I am melting! It was very hot today and it's 8 pm now and still more than 30 degrees. Shock

DH came back from a business trip today and he brought back a cobalt cashmere Polo Ralph Lauren cable knit jumper we had seen in duty free a couple of weeks ago.

It was 50% off but I didn't try it on at the time as the DC were not cooperating in the shop. I'm glad DH remembered but I only tried it on for a couple of seconds to see if it fit and then I had to take it off again as I was boiling.

shopafrolic · 12/08/2015 20:50

Evening all.
How impressive that your DH remembered - lovely Smile
Did anyone watch the Louboutin documentary? I found it fascinating. Loved his creativity and his lack of business sense - he clearly has some very good people around him. Also interesting to learn about the Pigalle and the So Kate. Well worth watching if you missed it.
I went for a meeting today. Wore black Paige jeans, pistols, Hush red and white striped tee and Zara blazer (thanks again Amber). Carried my grey Pashli. Felt good to be a bit smarter than normal.
Not looking forward to the next few rainy days, I am much better at keeping DS entertained when we can head out.

Love the Octopod reference Mara Smile

Stokey · 12/08/2015 20:59

I do love that bag Mara... Sits on hands.

And loving your Hipanema bracelet.

I bought some of the star pyjama bottoms in the Hush sale which are so comfy, but not much else left in my size.

I really struggle with going back to rainy days wear after being in sun mode for weeks. We're going to the Gruffalo tomorrow and think I'll have to wear socks for the first time in months. Rainy day entertainment here will be theatre tomorrow, Inside Out on Friday and swimming on Saturday if that gives you any inspiration Shop.

I love that H&M skirt Bernice. And the Asos jeans. How's their sizing? I'd normally take 27 but they have 26 or 28.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 12/08/2015 21:39

I would say size down.

Love that skirt shop - really like the etre decile stuff.

libertychick · 12/08/2015 21:50

Betty and myvegas thanks for all the Gigi tips. After much angsting I've decided against them! I have some enough sandals for holidays and really need something sturdier for walking in so will get some slides or fit flops.

Mara great bracelet. I also loved the octopod reference! DD is currently obsessed with them.

fedup after your comment about the Bellerose dress I had another trying on session and decided it's a keeper so Flowers. Also I have been meaning to say for ages that the YSL cream blusher you sent me is my absolute daily essential now. Love it!

I had a fashion lightbulb moment last night. I tried on the H&M floral sweater with the teal dress and had this moment of thinking 'OMG that is totally me' Grin. That probably sounds a bit daft but it was a mix of right shapes, right colours, slightly funky without being too out there, really comfy. As a result I realise that I NEED straight but not clingy, midi length jersey skirts/dresses in autumn shades. If anyone sees these items anywhere please let me know.

QueenCardigan · 12/08/2015 21:57

My kids have driven me mad today. The holidays are killing me as they go to bed soooo late that I have no me time. And I'm a very grumpy mummy without me times. Just self medicating by fantasy shopping and then will go back through links....
these are divne

QueenCardigan · 12/08/2015 22:00

I utterly adore these

QueenCardigan · 12/08/2015 22:09

for shop

QueenCardigan · 12/08/2015 22:12

fur sandals anyone?

Topazandpearl · 12/08/2015 22:30

As a complete contrast to Queen's fantasy links, I bought these for work today. I needed something comfortable in black until I can start wearing boots. I already have this style in navy and white from a couple of years ago so I know that they are a good basic.

QueenCardigan · 12/08/2015 22:34

shop didn't get a chance to see the loub thing but will try catch up. Dd has had me hooked on a bbc contest called Hair. Amazing how these catwalk/editorial styles are done as it mainly seems to be chicken wire/donuts with extensions or hair pieces.
linus what a lovely dh
mara lve the bracelets
lib great shopping. I especially love the sequinned palms.
santa I love real life shopping but as I've got older I don't enjoy wandering round for hours on end so much. I've usually done an online edit beforehand and know what I want to look at but love finding things that I hadn't seen online.

QueenCardigan · 12/08/2015 22:35

I've got those in navy topaz. Bought them ages ago in the sale but haven't worn them yet as am living in sandals.

MyVegasBaby · 12/08/2015 22:38

Shop am I right that you have the office flat gillie shoes? What's the sizing like as they are reduced and I fancy a pair, just not sure what colour, is the red an orange red as it looks online? Thanks

Fedupnagging · 12/08/2015 22:51

Gah, iPod is playing up and running really slowly so am unable to open links.

Lib so pleased you like the blusher and have kept the lovely dress.

Great bracelet stack Mara. When do you go away?

The Laboutin documentary was interesting although I felt there was so much more that could have been said. I loved that he trotted around in flip flops!

We have more visitors coming and going over the next few days so spent the day cooking and cleaning - cooking I enjoyed, cleaning not so much.

shopafrolic · 13/08/2015 08:25

Queen LOVING those Lanvins - solves the bald patch problem too....
MyVegas size up. Pic attached.

Morning all. Long day ahead here. Meetings all day then straight to a work drinks thing in Covent Garden this evening. Wearing black Gerard Darel wrap dress, Zara beige jacket, leopard print loafers (lots of walking), Jaeger orange tote, orange and gold statement necklace (via shop) and black and gold cuff. I still haven't found a work dress as good as this GD one in an autumn colour so it gets pulled out for days like this even though I am generally not wearing black now.

LinusDKD · 13/08/2015 09:37

Morning!

I love those D&G heels queenc but every time I see that brand somewhere I remember their horrible remarks about IVF babies and I cringe.

Your outfit sounds perfect lib.

santa I do enjoy real life shopping but like queenc I do my research beforehand online and then I go to the shops. I do hate too much choice in the shops though as I like to 'scan' the rails for something I might like.

Messy, cluttered shops or shops where there's just too much stuff for me to properly see what's on offer do my head in.

The Ganni skirt has arrived and even though it's a lovely shape and fabric it's going to be tricky to wear it as the colours are different from the picture.

I am wearing it now with a pale pink Boden tee but it's not quite right. Will have to play around a bit with different colours.

BrandyAlexander · 13/08/2015 09:46

Morning!

Lib I bet you look lovely. Outfit sounds so nice.

Hugs for you QueenC.

Love the bracelets Mara, bet you will rock them, and thank you so much for pointing out that l loved Stokey's ones at the MU. Lovely Lib saw some in Tkmaxx and got them for me. Something to look forward to on return from hols!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/08/2015 09:48

Morning!

shop your feet look so good in that photo. I am jealous because I wore my Topshop ones at the weekend for the 2nd time, and in the course of a short walk they absolutely shredded my heels and made them bleed. I took 3 pairs of shoes with me and used about 12 plasters over the weekend. I have weird feet :(

mara that bracelet looks fab, perfect for holiday!

I've got the day off for my birthday next week, so have booked a pre-holiday haircut and manicure. I am a haircut avoider (last time was pre-wedding) so not sure what to get done. My hair is back-of-bra length now. I think I should get some layers put back in but keep it long?

lib love the sound of your fashion lightbulb moment. I dug out my RC notes and had a read through this morning. Do you find that the stuff about needing to avoid cheap clothes and buy more luxe fabrics is always true?

libertychick · 13/08/2015 10:13

Sort of Blair! I avoid poly and acrylic anyway as they make me hot. I think the finish is the important thing. For example I returned the BMB silk top to Anna as it had raw edges and I just looked like my T-shirt was torn rather than looking all casual and luxe and it was really nice silk.

QueenCardigan · 13/08/2015 10:13

Have I seen your hair down blair? I think it's been up when ive met you but may have wave/texture? Can't advise about layers as I'm poker straight.
linus I'm with you on cluttered shops. It's why I don't get on with h&m as you really have to search for nice stuff. And why I don't really do tk maxx. I find John lewis easy as I can just browse each concession that I like.

Mentioning those clarks navy flats last night made me realise that I have so many unworn things for when the weather turns. I have the MD pink shoes, my gap flares, MD jumper (bought in majorca), esprit top (bought in majorca) and the Toast top that I bought ages ago. All will get worn loads though. Anyone else got stuff they've bought that's unworn yet waiting for a/w?
