Not quite sure how that went so quickly. Continuing the search for stylish bargains. Lurkers welcome - bring links and a smile :)

Finally finished all my washing today. stokey i washed swimwear on 40 and it's all come out ok with not too many ?ellow stains.
lib....
Most useful...kaftan (Dorothy Perkins) and strapless dress (primark) got worn the most (aside from my bikini). Also my straw hat that I bought over there. For night the boden shorts as they are a lovely short length. I also wore my linen dress a few nights (next).
Didn't use...longer length denim shorts, navy dress ( too hot). Should have trusted my instincts and not packed them. Also I didn't wear make up once although I packed it as I just too hot.
Footwear-I just lived in my havs. I took my saltwaters but only wore them to travel in. Didn't wear my pumps at all although if I could have been bothered to walk up a mountain to a castle or monastery I would have.
Nothing I wished I'd had but if I went away for 2 weeks again I would get another one or two kaftans as mine ended up minging and had salt stains on the boobs Blush or alternatively I could have washed it.

The only thing I haven't yet washed is my Uniqlo silk top which is stained across the chest from either sweat or after sun and I'm hoping it's not ruined so I'd avoid taking that again.

QueenCardigan · 10/08/2015 22:14

blair ive just had a quick look for things similar to rockie but nothing thats inspiring me. What colour will you get? I love the navy.

shopafrolic · 10/08/2015 22:21

Morning,

Lib I haven't had a hot summer hol this year, but I have been to Thailand (aeons ago) and it is sooo humid. Have you been before?

Novice when I looked at your unworn / little worn links I did think they that were not very 'you' - very little colour and some of the things a bit too mature and stuffy. Maybe some mistakes rather than not suiting your lifestyle? Loving the idea of an MNV wardrobe culling session Grin

Blair I really like Wales. Glad you had a good time.

Amber are these the espadrills you have? I have ordered despite my well documented dislike of espadrills Wink (I like them on other people, I just find them uncomfortable to walk in).

Some good discounts on Allium B dresses

Lib I saw this and thought of you (not sure if you are still on your spending ban?)

And possibly this one for Blair ?

I've done a bit of dregs of the sale shopping:

asos jeans - love asos jeans atm - thick cotton with a hint of stretch, they really keep their shape well. Not keen on the knee rips particularly but for £11 I can't complain.

these shoes from Next for the autumn.

this skirt - having seen it on Susie so so's blog - I really liked the midi length but have just washed it and think it may have shrunk marginally, gah.

Hope you all have a good day.

Guessing Marsha made her flight! Grin

libertychick · 11/08/2015 09:06

That has happened to me before shop but not ATM. The leopard Gigi's were gone in my size on Anna. The other colour they had wouldn't work for me.

My Anna order arrived yesterday. Silk top and skirt are both returns. Can't decide on the yellow dress. It's a bit short but looks good with opaques and ankle boots. But it's definitely a casual rather than work look and I need work stuff so I might return it.

QueenC two kaftans sounds like a good idea.

libertychick · 11/08/2015 09:09

Thanks Bernice. I have been debating that dress actually! May go for it...

libertychick · 11/08/2015 09:13

And yes have been to Thailand a few times. I always forget just how hot and sweaty it actually is! In my backpacking days I had two tunic style knee length linen dresses and I just rotated them. Probably should look for something like that Smile

BrandyAlexander · 11/08/2015 10:17

Morning! Bernice what you say about my unworn clothes is very interesting and probably true. I love how other people can see things I can't. Grin

love the dress for Lib and a great price too. Oh and can't believe you have bailed on me from the espadrilles hating cornerShock

currently on sun lounger as the dcs wanted to go to the kids club for some art activity. I could use the time looking at a/w stuff but that's depressing!

QueenCardigan · 11/08/2015 10:38

novice, bernice speaks sense actually. Some of the things you linked were quite grown up. I love the Armani vest but I wonder if you are uncomfortable baring your shoulders and décolletage. As ive got older I don't like to expose too much skin at once.

Haven't got time to open links as about to take dc to a gym class. A hour and a half to read my book. Lush.

I've just been reading the capsule thread and theres a lot of love for the Vivienne files. I get the whole thing about only wearing what you love and sticking to some kind of colour theme so things coordinates but there's just something about that blog that I just don't get Confused. Clothes shopping should be fun and sometimes the best buys are the ones that aren't planned rigidly.

AmberNectarine · 11/08/2015 14:59

I could never have a capsule wardrobe. I love opening my wardrobe and seeing a riot of colour and texture.

Bernice yes those are my espadrilles. Not normally a fan either but they are really comfy.

Fedupnagging · 11/08/2015 16:25

Lib did I miss something? Are you going to Thailand? I really liked the yellow dress so hope you keep it.

You are not alone on the espadrille front Bernice, I'm not keen either as despite wearing them in my 20's I now find them uncomfortable and they don't look right on me for some reason.

Novice it's impossible to do winter shopping whilst lying in the sun! Much easier to buy summer stuff when it's cold though!

I love the idea of a capsule wardrobe but in reality, it doesn't work for me-despite being really organised in most areas of my life, I'm most definitely disorganised clotheswise. Besides, Queen is right clothes shopping should be fun.

Am still looking for flatforms I like - these are nice and this is the look I would aim for.

libertychick · 11/08/2015 18:42

Fedup I'm not going until late November but as there won't be any summer clothes in the shops then I am shopping now Smile

Darn it, the Allium B dress is gone is both 12 and 14 Sad

I have just done a holiday shop in H&M.

2 pairs of shorts – one cream chino style and kakhi jersey ones

2 t-shirt dresses - one mustard, one teal, may go back for a kakhi one too

1 t-shirt – soft white with a palm print in sequins

1 cream tank top (which is a good shape, debating a second one)

1 pair of loose patterned trousers (for the evenings to keep the mossies off my legs)

and a really nice floral sweater (for the flight Wink).

I think I'll get some fit flops rather than gigis Blush as my old ones are trashed and I do find them really good on holidays. I have an ancient pair of red flip flops that will do the job for by the pool. I'm unlikely to wear any of it atm so I'm just going to pack it all in the suitcase and then I'm almost sorted 3 months before we actually leave Grin.

Also in H&M I saw this dress Gorgeous and amazing quality for the price.

shopafrolic · 11/08/2015 19:29

Don't forget the Louboutin programme on C4 at 9pm

OP posts:
Fedupnagging · 11/08/2015 20:09

Ah yes Lib I knew you were going away later in the year but didn't realise it was to Thailand - how lovely. Great haul from H&M - love the jumper.

Thanks for the reminder Shop, I'd completely forgotten.

Am dealing with boring paperwork atm and came on here for some distraction - where is everyone! Grin

santamarianovella · 11/08/2015 20:35

I'm a bit late, Im on my last week of hols but would like to review what i ve worn up to now ,
Most worn: marant swing top,APC denim shorts, marant dress, valentino dress,
Footwear: chanel espadrilles, I had major buyers remorse when I first bought them a year ago, but seriously they are on their second SS year ,and they are worth it,and they look like they would survive another SS !

Haven't worn: white marant jeans, too hot for those.

Nothing I wished I had brought along which is good, I hate overpacking stuff,

linus that Stella skirt,is gorgeous! I've pinned it to my AW list,

queen you are so right about how best buys are often the ones that are not planned for.
BUT, and this is a confession I haven't made before,I think Hmm, as much as I love clothes and fashion,
I don't find RL shopping remotely fun. At all. I find it real torture, and I usually lose interest and get headaches, I think its mostly do to trying to stick to list, and sometimes when i hit the shops everything gets muddled, up, this actually happened to me today, I tried to do A bit of shopping, and my carefully planned list just disappeared once I entered, so I walked out , need to think it over once more, and try to go with a clearer mind, and not settle for other alternatives or second best, I know it sounds very off putting to a lot of you, Grin maybe I could help the EU with the Greek crisis instead, Wink,

liberty I love, love that sweatshirt,

bernice those jeans look good, what a bargin,

libertychick · 11/08/2015 21:00

Bernice I meant to say earlier my DSis loved Asos for jeans too.

Santa your holiday wardrobe sounds amazing. Shopping can be hell. I'm wiped out after dealing with H&M on Regent St!

On capsule wardrobes I think for me it means the core things you need rather than just limiting yourself to a small number of items. I need a bit of discipline otherwise I'd have a wardrobe full of random items and no outfits. I like the Vivienne files. I think she has some good advise especially if you are not naturally good at pulling outfits together.

For example she talks about building a wardrobe around some formulas such as having 2 bottoms, 3 tops that work with each bottom, and then a cardigan and a jacket that work with both bottom items. Add a dress and you have enough for a work week without looking the same every day.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 11/08/2015 21:28

I like the idea of a capsule core wardrobe as well. I hate buying basics, just wish I could concentrate on the fun stuff! This has been my aim ever since I had my colours done 3 years ago and I think I'm finally getting there with my work wardrobe, thanks to Me+Em and Uniqlo.

Bernice thanks for the Allium B link, I just bought this one from them a few weeks ago, haven't worn it yet!

This A/W I want to buy a few expensive things, but I know that will go out of the window when I see all the lovely things on the high street that I must have. I've already started craving OTK boots and was considering a "reasonably priced" pair from Topshop or Asos...

bettykt · 11/08/2015 22:07

Last summer Lib I bought some Gigi likes from Next, they are very good and are a great dupe,
there are some on this page do you stick to your colours for footwear as well as clothes? They had more variety of colour last year but are mainly black/tan/white/silver this year.

LinusDKD · 12/08/2015 11:03

Morning!

The navy Splendid dress has arrived and is lovely. It looks better on me with a belt, as I thought, but this will be one of those 'throw on in the morning when you have no clue what to wear' dresses I love so much.

Speaking of dresses, I saw this and immediately thought of marsha

MyVegasBaby · 12/08/2015 11:16

Liberty Next have leopard and tan leather Gigis in their clearance section online for £39. I got mine from there before my holiday. Just checked and they still have some but not all sizes.

MyVegasBaby · 12/08/2015 11:22

Liberty I also got these as found by Amber Hush Gigi alikes wasn't sure at first but wore them a lot on holiday and loved them. I got black patent but there are losts of colours.

maradesbois · 12/08/2015 14:40

Afternoon Voguettes,

Blair glad you had good hols too.

Bernice I popped into ts yesterday to try on the leopard espadrilles you linked. They had one pair left that were my size but didn't buy even though I liked them. Just can't do animal print even though I love it on others.

Am in that dangerous pre holiday mood where think I have loads of wardrobe gaps and fashion mistakes can easily be made. In reality we're only away for a week due to house move and have more than enough so trying to resist temptation. Browsing on shopbop found this bag that think would be fab for Stokey.

Also inspired by Stokey and Lib picked up a hipanema bracelet at TK Maxx Kensington after taking ds to the summer pavilion at the Serpentine (which he thought looked like the Octopod!)

Raoul black dress came and is a keeper. Going out with dh in Mayfair tomorrow night so may wear but have such a bloated tummy atm, don't know why. Don't think I've gained any weight but can't wait to get back to exercising properly once nanny starts.
