What's the difference between the Bravura calendula toner and the 2% salicylic acid ? I have the latter.

I bought a bottle of the lactic/salicylic peel from SR Skincare last week to see if it could do anything for my keratosis pilaris.

Well this morning I gingerly wiped a small amount on my forearm (where I have lots of raised spots) and Jumping Jehoshaphat and Heavens to Betsy but after one measly wipe the skin on that patch of my arm feels 80% smoother.

I cannot wait to get home and cover my entire arm in the stuff. And it didn't even sting or tingle!

Hi all, not been on for ages, however have lurked sporadically - but the big news is I am two sessions in to my facial lasering - Gotta say the 30 minutes is stupidly painful - and up to four days later I look a bit odd with very dark brown flecks all over my face, but the results are amazing - combination of Paulas choice retinol and spf 50 from LRP and my skin has never looked better.

The whole thing has been odd, in that the darker freckles have completely vanished (they are near the surface and get hit by the laser first). The ones that I thought were lighter are that way as they are deeper in the layers of the skin, and actually take longer to go as the laser has to go deeper (i.e. more pain) to bring them to the surface to "shatter" and then flake off. HAs been oddly fascinating watching.

DOn't have my third session till September but really looking forward to it!

Also has anyone tried Muji skin care? I ended up with a horrific reaction to the cleanser that was so bad I couldn't open my eyes (oK it was a tenner but recommended by CH so I wasn't expecting it) So back to Cetaphil and oil cleansing. The Muji essence is quite nice and the Halmylide sp. from Boots for eyes is a stayer in the regime as I think its fab!!!

xoxo

"Well this morning I gingerly wiped a small amount on my forearm (where I have lots of raised spots) and Jumping Jehoshaphat and Heavens to Betsy but after one measly wipe the skin on that patch of my arm feels 80% smoother."

I do that - I use either the N&F pad or the salcylic on the cotton wool, whichever I have used on my face, I then 'use up' the last it of dampness either on my elbows/underside of forearms, cuticles or round my heels. It does seem to be making a difference.

Btw the N&F body cream has salcylic in it, as does No7 P&P body cream.

Yes, I think my hands are softer too, I mentioned it to dp the other day. He has hands like corrugated steel, so am trying to get him to think about using something. It's handy when i want him to take something out of the oven and can't find the mitts, but not so handy when he's trying to be intimate!

Something's gone wrong! Sad Confused Sad

My skin isn't spotty but it feels really dry and when I'm massaging the cleansing oil and balm onto it I can feel loads of teeny little bumps. Seems to be mostly from my cheek bones down to my jaw bone. It's the kind of dryness I would have expected if I had started using Retinol, but I've not even been brave enough to order the ruddy stuff yet!!!

Maybe it's the increase from 10% to 15% home-made vitamin C serum? Well, that's all I can think it is really? So I've knocked it on the head for a few days to see if it improves and will go back to the 10% if it does.

Anyone else know if this is a common reaction to a higher percentage of vitamin C? Big did this happen to you at all? Hellllllppppp!!!

Featherbluedot · 27/07/2015 23:41

Finally my skin is looking pretty good amazing after a couple of months or so of really looking after it am and pm and now the serums I'd tossed to one side thinking they were just not cutting it, well they actually are amazing now they clearly have a decent canvas to work with.
In my case it's the free Clinique serum I have that I thought wasnt for me, well I tried it again last night and this morning and my skin has gone that extra mile after using it.
Thank you la roche posay for clearing up my skin and now I can get to work with the serums I thought were redundant to really give my skin that extra glow.
I'm still using effeclar duo every few days to keep it tip top but it's a revelation to use the more specific products to revitalize.
Now I get it.

bigbuttons · 28/07/2015 09:03

feather that's great. I have found the same thing. you need a good canvas otherwise all the fancy potions in the world won't make a difference.

Sounds great feather - can I be cheeky and ask what routine you're doing?

Featherbluedot · 29/07/2015 18:55

Hi yes but I do mix up a bit now my skin has improved as I started off buying various products I need to use up, which didn't have an effect but no do or now fine to use iyswim

So to get my skin as clear as it is today over the last couple of months I used the following

Am
La roche posay physiological cleansing gel with a flannel in the shower
Boots botanics rosewater toner
Clearasil pads
La roche posay effeclar duo
Makeup

Pm
Clinique take the day off ( if tired garnier micellar water
Las roche posay cleansing gel
Botanics rosewater
Clearsil pads
Effeclar duo
For extra moisture if needed either a spritz of botanics or loreal youth code night cream

My skin was blotchy and red rosacea with lots of little bumpy red spots on cheeks which I had to cover with good cover makeup.

Now my skin has cleared I can use cetaphil in the am and pm if not wearing makeup. If wearing makeup or SPF then take the day off and la roche gel.

I am now trying my serums again that my skin wasn't ready for like Clinique custom repair and loreal revitalift total repair and clarin lotus oil.

I now use CC creams or can actually wear no makeup for the first time in ages.

Featherbluedot · 29/07/2015 19:01

I am also now using neutrogena oil free moisturiser in the am. I wear effeclar duo in the pm a few times a week to keep my skin maintained. I use a clearasil pad one evening a week as a treatment as opposed to twice a day.

As an evening moisturiser when not using effeclar duo I'm using up the loreal revitalift and loreal youth code night that I have, or a serum or the Clinique oil. It all depends on how my skin feels that evening.

Featherbluedot · 29/07/2015 19:10

For instance tonight I've had an early cleanse in the shower as I have an early start tomorrow so needed to wash my hair to skip it tomorrow am.

I have washed face with lrp gel, wiped with a clearsil pad.
Because I have a face to face meeting tomorrow I'll use effeclar duo because I know my skin is in safe hands, otherwise I might have used a serum or loreal youth code. But don't want to take any chances.

If my skin feels dry after that I will put on loreal youth code night because the texture suits my skin.

Cloggal · 29/07/2015 19:48

Thanks feather, I have a few of these products in my stash, it's helpful to see a routine! So glad it's worked for you.

Featherbluedot · 29/07/2015 20:02

*clarins lotus oil

Blondiewoman007 · 30/07/2015 10:09

Hope some lovely ladies can help me. My skin has been great since discovering La Roche Posay physiological cleansing gel but I think it has been discontinued. Completely gutted! I can't find it in any Boots stores. It's not on the la roche posay website any more. I have emailed the company so just waiting to hear back from them but just wondered if anyone else who uses this had managed to get hold of it.

Melonfool · 30/07/2015 13:04

Loads on Amazon.

Blondiewoman007 · 30/07/2015 13:47

Thank you melon. I had checked amazon for this but seems to be over £8 delivery charge! May be worth it though if I can't track it down anyway else. Thanks again

Featherbluedot · 31/07/2015 22:07

Boots has it, they run out of products for a few days then re stock with loads. I make sure I have spare of my la roche products, because they work so well for me. So hang on till the last drop before splashing out on amazon with those postage costs.

I am finding that loreal micellar water is working brilliantly for me as well esp if I have a makeup free day. So you could maybe try that till the shops restock. Just a thought. Nothing wrong with mixing it up slightly.
