New thread!

OP posts:

Kundry have been taking notes. Can someone cent on my routine?
Am: bar soap and water in shower plus a touch of grapeeed oil and lrp factor 50 ultralight. I don't like this at all and got some olay spf 15 which is better and only 4 quid.
Pm: oil cleanse then Vichy normaderm acid then redermic r and or hydraluron plus add an oil.
For those who don't like hydraluron I use it as an ingredient and mix with oil. Then I wake up all plump!
My skin is ok but I do have chin blackheads. Yuck.
I dislike all spf generally. I think they all block pores regardless of the label. I liked no7 perfect and protect moisturiser but felt it wasn't high enough protection.

Kundry · 09/07/2015 22:00

OK, here's my two penceworth Grin:

am - not sure what the grapeseed oil is doing. If you still have chin blackheads I'd leave the oil alone. Plus I'd have the acid stage in the morning. And totally get what you are saying about SPF but SPF 15 is not enough, esp if you are using Redermic R

pm - again personally am not into oil cleansing for oily skin, also am a Hydraluron hater Wink Which Normaderm acid are you using? Finally you are going to get the best out of Redermic R when you are using it every night.

Kennington · 09/07/2015 22:10

Oh dear well it looks like I have to change a few things then! The normaderm toner stuff with salicylic acid and glycolic acid.
I use oil cos part of my skin is dry.
I need to read the thread again!

Kundry · 09/07/2015 22:19

OK - I love some of the Normadarm range and some of it is a bit Hmm - far too many confusing foaming cleansers. I've not used the toner.

Have you tried an oil-free moisturiser at night? tries not to mention Cerave again

The search for the Holy Grail SPF is difficult. My closest so far was Heliocare Gel, Sunsense was great as long as you aren't wearing makeup.

If you are getting spots from SPF you might be reacting to the chemical sunscreen and be better with all mineral - although then you have all the probs of finding one without a white cast... Really want to try the Biore one everyone is raving about.

How big a Boots? If it has a LRP stand I'd get Effaclar Duo which I found fairly similar to Paul'as Choice lotion.

I've bought the Clearasil pads but didn't like them.

You may have the wander through obsessively reading the backs of bottles like a madwoman Grin

Thanks kundry
A white cast is fine. I am pasty white!

Melonfool · 09/07/2015 23:05

I bought the Hylamide SubQ anti age serum from Boots (£5 off ) yesterday and noticed the effect after the first use. Skin plumper and fresher looking. Yay !! Unfortunately they didn't have any of the eye serum left. Must be cos the Hylamide is on offer. Funnily enough, when the assistant looked online to order it for me it was more expensive there.
I also bought the Dragon's blood pads(didn't find the Nip and Fab to be doing anything) but I am giving the serum a few days trial before I add the next new thing.
I now have so many products in my basket, mainly for night time use, that I can't get through them all !

I scoured the Boots on Fenchurch Street, reading every label, and couldn't find anything with Hylamide - does anyone have a link/photo so I can find it please?

Melonfool · 10/07/2015 10:09

OK, found it on the website, but I def didn't see this in the Boots I went to, assume I need a bigger one.

sonata1 · 10/07/2015 10:27

I've just ordered the Hylamide eye serum on line at Boots with the £5 off. I don't know why the assistant in store yesterday couldn't get the same screen up. Hers didn't have the £5 off offer.

Melonfool...the Hylamide stand had very few items left in my local Boots. Maybe they had a rush of MN'ers snapping them up !

TheBeagleHasLanded · 10/07/2015 13:56

Hylamide SubQ Eyes Advanced Serum winging it's way to my local Boots store ready for collection tomorrow.

Big I need your advice: I've started making the C serum. I started off with 5% and have had no trouble so I made a 10% batch last night but for some reason I couldn't get the pH right. Instead of pH3 (showing orange on the pH strips) I kept getting a pH of 1 to 2 (showing red on the pH strips). Any idea how to raise the pH? I kept adding more distilled water but nothing happened. Would a pH of 1 to 2 still be effective or do I really need 3?

sonata1 · 10/07/2015 16:07

Well blow me down. Just popped into Boots to get some Bare Minerals for DD and there was a pack of Hylamide eyes serum for £18.That's £4 less than what I paid for the order I just did today. Anyway. I bought it and I will return the £22 box when it arrives tomorrow Sheesh !!

bigbuttons · 11/07/2015 11:23

beagle as far as I understand ( I am no expert) that will be ok. A lower acid is more effective, however, too low. can cause great irritation to the skin. I am just making a new batch now, stirring the those crystals that takes ages to dissolve as I sit here! iirc my last batch was in the 2's and it was fine. Test in on your face. if it's too ouch.
The more LAA you have the higher the concentration the lower the ph. You can add some HA gel if your skin feels uncomfortableSmile

Intrigued by that sunscreen, GERTI!

Does it protect against UVA (the aging rays) as well as UVB?

I'd be interested to see how you get on with it Gerti. I am always on the look out for non greasy SPF 50's.However, how can you prove its effectiveness as a SPF 50 sunscreen apart from wearing it in brilliant sunshine and seeing if you get burnt ? Is it meant to fade dark spots , uneven skin tone?

Thank you very much for all the info GERTI, it sounds miraculous but I'm a bit worried about the alcohol content, my skin is parched enough as it is!

Will be interested to hear how you get on with it, how make up sits on it and stuff...can feel my fingers itching already, baa baa Grin
