Baukjen have some nice items in Winter colours at the moment:

Cobalt top

Ocean blue jumper

Ocean Blue wrap top

Cobalt dress

Cobalt dress

Plus lots in grey and black. I think some of their stuff is pricey though.

I love this dress, if only it came in a Winter colour!

AmelieinOz · 17/05/2015 05:04

Not for us, right, because of the gold studs?

Have we had a Dylon discussion yet?!
www.dylon.co.uk/products/dyes/fabric-dye-for-machine-use/

I can vouch for the navy blue being a really nice deep shade, I used it on a pair of mid/dark blue demins and it's fantastic. I'm guessing flamingo pink is good for the brave. I bought forest green, haven't used it yet, it looks a bit autumnal.

Has anyone tried ocean blue or emerald green?

Not much other wintery news, still struggling a bit with the burnished winter wardrobe. Have a lovely Sunday all

NeitherHereOrThere · 17/05/2015 08:39

We've talked about using dyes but not for ages. I've used Burlesque Red which is a lovely burgundy and black for refreshing black jeans.

Not tried blue or green but then these are quite easy to find in the shops.

misslemonsfilingcabinet · 17/05/2015 09:05

On a very boring note, I found a useful and very dark navy jacket in M and S of all places:
Jacket
It's actually very flattering on and a useful, crease free jacket for travelling etc when you need something to throw on to look smarter. It also has "Button safe technology" which is a relief, thanks M and S Confused

misslemonsfilingcabinet · 17/05/2015 09:07

Argh - the link just gives thousands of dire M and S horrors. Sorry
Try again
Jacket

mimiasovitch · 17/05/2015 23:01

The flamingo pink is lovely, but not quite right. That was on a formerly cream t shirt. Ocean blue was great, on a white base. I have a chambray skirt which I need to navyify. It'll be ever so useful then.

Fender1 · 18/05/2015 11:10

I've just found a great safari style jacket / cropped trouser suit I've had for a few years and can get back into after two babies but it's cream.
Do you think it'll take to a machine dye? Fabric is cotton so should be ok?

I'd like to go for Pine Green (swatch no 29) so I'm going to try the Amazon green I think, or just chicken out and go for navy Smile

NowhereNow · 18/05/2015 12:55

Often the thread is polyester so doesn't take the dye. I don't like the look of contrasting stitching, but going over with a sharpie works quite well if you can find a similar shade.

I've dyed several pairs of trousers and refreshed some tops. The only colour that I was disappointed with was the antique grey (it's rebranded as pewter grey, so perhaps they've improved the colour). The dye fades quite quickly too.

QueenCardigan · 19/05/2015 12:22

Hi winters. I've used the dark green one and it's not a winter colour. The emerald is new I think. I agree with nowhere, the grey was awful. Intense violet gives a good bright purple but has faded quite significantly so now isn't as intense. I love the navy for refreshing navy things. And yes, the thread doesn't take the dye.

No new purchases except an emerald vest from gap. I just don't need any more clothes at the moment really unless they're jumpers! It's freezing still!

green vest

carrie74 · 19/05/2015 13:20

Hi Everyone, no purchases to report, although have been quite taken with these sweatshirts Mother sweatshirt. H thinks they're a bit cringe though, so did not press BUY.

Re: Ice colours, I can't bring myself to try them, BUT I wear loads of white Ts which I love, and have always thought worked on me, so I was very relieved to know they're allowed.

I did consider dying some of my clothes after diagnosis, but never got round to it - I ebayed them instead after many comments like above - I figured at least then they still had some value, whereas if I dyed and it went wrong, then I couldn't wear them nor could I sell them.

I have been SO COLD this week, I've pulled out my cashmere jumpers again. I need to put the winter coats into dry cleaning, but I keep putting it off in case I need the duvet coat! Grin I want to get back into my summer clothes (after Easter break in Florida, then last BH a girls' trip to Barcelona, I've got quite settled into warmth).

Fender1 · 19/05/2015 21:31

Nice vest Queen, I'm rocking emerald / navy / white this spring.
I'm a jewel winter and I wear some ice colours on the top half which I got ** for and they look fine (I hope!) with a contrast bottom half. Reiss are good atm for ice colours but haven't made any purchases for ages.

Tans. What do you all do re self tan? My head says no but my legs are so pale they reflect the sun so I'd like to get some colour on them. Is this ok?

didireallysaythat · 19/05/2015 23:33

Banana republic has a sleeveless emerald green top (can't get the link to copy) - out of my price range but simple with a v neckline

QueenCardigan · 20/05/2015 07:05

I never use fake tan. I've tried but it always goes streaky. I one embrace the pale.
did a friend ordered that top and said it was big so size down anyone who wants it. If you're interested keep an eye out for discounts which are frequent with banana republic.

OP posts:
SorrelForbes · 20/05/2015 07:41

I too try to embrace the pale but occasionally resort to using that moisturiser that contains a little bit of fake tan just to take aware the glare! I've tried some of the Clarins golden glow stuff last night in my face cream but can't see any difference. It's probably too warm really for me but I'm doing an amdram thing soon and need a bit of colour under the lights.

NeitherHereOrThere · 20/05/2015 08:37

Re fake tans - I use the gradual moisturiser (Dove Summer Glow or something like that) on my legs but didn't bother the last couple of years. I never use any on my arms/face/chest.

Fender1 · 20/05/2015 10:49

Interestingly the Clarins gradual glow did nothing for me a few years ago either Sorrel.
It's only my legs I want to take the white edge off so the summer sun moisturiser is prob all I need.

TinyLittleOne · 27/05/2015 20:35

Hi Winters - I am finding it difficult to get bright white tops, (unless they are t-shirts). Do you think ivory is okay to wear? When I say ivory, I definitly don't mean cream, this colour is just an off-white, in fact DH would call it white, but to my trained eye, white has to be brilliant white. Grin So, what do you all think, or am I over thinking this?

QueenCardigan · 30/05/2015 10:03

tiny what does it look like on? If you're more neutral toned then you may find that you can get away with an off white. But it sounds like there will always be that nagging doubt if you wear it....

No purchases to report here. I'm just trying to wear all of my summer clothes but keep reverting back to winter stuff as its so chilly!

I got this the other day and have had lots of compliments. Very long, do i needed the sorry length (I'm 5ft 5). Might not be what you're after but thought others might be interested!

littlecupcake · 10/06/2015 15:17

Very long SO I needed SHORT length. Predictive text aarhhhh.

QueenCardigan · 10/06/2015 16:11

Hi summer. I went shopping today but don't recall seeing anything appropriate as most things I saw whete either sleeveless or too short. Have you looked at White stuff and fatface? Could you wear a skirt and tee instead of a dress?

OP posts:
summerflowers · 10/06/2015 16:19

Little cup cake - it is lovely
Yes queen cardigan --I found the same
But I could wear a skirt and light blouse - good idea
