I did mean castaners, honestly. Let's blame autocorrect Grin

I'm on a dark winter Facebook group, and a lots of the members tend to be so particular about matching the fan. I may be a sultry winter, but I'm not going to look hideous in emerald green or hot pink. Not like rocking an orange and yellow ensemble anyway! I think it can be so hard to find the right colours, just sticking to the overall season, or indeed cool rather than warm, is good enough. I always end up in summer when I cheat anyway.

ForSaleChesterDraws · 08/06/2018 06:39

Mimi- I’m in the same Facebook group. I find the fan that some of them use is weird but it’s coral, weird yellows and a couple of other odd ones. They don’t get the idea that it just has to harmonise with the fan.

mimiasovitch · 08/06/2018 11:39

No. It has to be an exact match, regardless of whether they like it! Also (and I admit to being a horrible person here), all the 'I'm not draped but I'm sure I'm a winter and I like orange therefore it must fit' does my head in. I have no objection to wearing a colour out of season, but nothing will convince me that orange has a winter place. Except in my lovely orange g and t.

SorrelForbes · 08/06/2018 13:32

ForSaleChesterDraws Yes, I keep reading that thread and sighing at all the tan sandal talk. I'm looking for some new flat sandals, preferably in black, silver or even with some sparkle. I don't want to pay much as I won't wear them a lot.

I haven't bought much recently and what I have bought has been off eBay (bright pink bikini, some white t-shirts). I did however, splurge on a black leather jacket from Reiss (Outlet) and managed to get an extra 10% off. Still blew the budget though. It's like this but without the side pockets

smilingartichoke · 08/06/2018 19:13

Can someone share a link to that Dark Winter Facebook group that was mentioned?

mimiasovitch · 08/06/2018 20:33

I don't know how to do a link to a page but it's called dark winter and the cover photo is shown below

I’m a jewel winter, I do get depressed with trying to find clothes in the right colours for me and the right shape for my body (hourglass and definitely need a square/scoop or v-neck!).

I’ve just ordered this from kettlewell in sapphire - has anyone on here tried it? www.kettlewellcolours.co.uk/products/dresses/item/claudia-dress

Redact · 11/06/2018 20:08

me I've not bought anything from Kettlewell yet. Keep meaning to as I get their emails and often see something that think I must try and then never get round to it. The sapphires a lovely colour.
sorrel really love that jacket. I had my eye on a black Reiss leather jacket earlier on in the year, tried it on a few times but waited for it to go in the sale and then missed out. I'll never learn gah! mimia about the orange I thought with my dark hair and eyes that I must suit orange and coral but then always had to put on more make up. Getting draped was a revelation especially when they got to salmon pink ugh. The cool tones make such a difference that's why I don't mind occasionally straying into summer especially in the summer when it's so hard to find winter colours. I've ordered a chalk blue boho top and cashmere jumper, it's more for wearing in autumn winter and spring, from White Company and Black castaners. Will see how they are. I don't know how to do links on mobile sorry.

mimiasovitch · 11/06/2018 20:25

@Redact I always loved grass green and coral, and just couldn't see the yellowness in my skin they induced. This is why I'm always dubious about folk being sure they're a particular season without draping. We get so used to how we look we can't really see beyond that. Hence a sea of black which suits so few

Redact · 16/06/2018 07:52

I agree until your draped you can't tell for sure. I would have guessed I was autumn but that's because when I dyed my hair I had red through it which then meant I was choosing foundation to suit my hair colouring as if I put on to match my skin I looked awful. However, as much as I wanted to wear khaki I always looked awful in it and I always looked good in black and white. Wore the castaners for the first time yesterday and they are so comfy! My order arrived from White Company but have been so busy not had time to try on yet, hopefully get an opportunity to do this over the weekend. Sorry I'm not sure how to do links on my phone.

ForSaleChesterDraws · 16/06/2018 16:23

I wasn’t sure if I was a dark autumn or dark winter. I always realised more saturated colours suited me, and wore lots of teal, bright coral and winter colours. Once I was draped I could see that the coral made me look really sallow.

TheWineDarkSea · 16/06/2018 16:42

Hello, just found this thread and am following and looking for ideas. I’ve just had my colours done and came out as a burnished winter. So having to get rid of all my cream and beige tops...

MoorMummy · 16/06/2018 17:12

What do you think of this generally and as a top for a Winter. Dark hair, mid brown eyes, v pale Ivory skin? I’ve just found this thread again, forgot how good it was.

MoorMummy · 16/06/2018 22:49

Please tell me I haven’t killed the thread!

MeTigger · 17/06/2018 06:41

An update on the Claudia dress - great colour, lovely v-neck (am an hourglass) but fabric was the terrible thin type that shows every lump and bump - for £89 I felt they should have made the fabric thicker and lined it - so it’s been returned

trigger2 · 17/06/2018 07:14

Ooh i like that @MoorMummy !

ForSaleChesterDraws · 17/06/2018 08:50

@moormummy Don’t panic about killing this thread. It might be part 6 but it was started in 2015! It’s not as active as some of the others on here. I like that top. Have you had a style day with HoC? I know it would be too small a print for me to carry off but it is lovely.

@MeTigger thanks for the heads up. I always wondered what the quality from Kettlewell was like. It always seems very expensive for what it is. IF I was spending that amount of money I’d be more tempted to look at Me + Em which always gets fab reviews.

QueenCyan · 17/06/2018 08:55

That’s lovely moormummy

I’ve bought this top. The brushworks colourway is also great but I dont like too much white.

Over the years, I’ve become more rebellious with the colours especially accessories. My current favourite bag and trainers are dusky pink but I love it with the navy and bright blues that I wear as it almost tones it down.

I can just about get away with a bit of coral as I’m a sprinter and my colouring is fairly neutral although I don’t tend to wear it next to my face.

QueenCyan · 17/06/2018 08:56

forsale I cant believe that it’s been going since 2015!!

MoorMummy · 17/06/2018 09:08

Thanks! Tigger, i too loved that Kettlewell dress in that colour, but i thought expensive for a jersey dress, though Baukjen would be the same price ( though i only ever buy in the sale and i think the styles have gone really off in the past couple of seasons which is a shame as it was always my go to brand). Do Kettlewell do sales?

I might order the Jaeger top, I’m a but hesitant as ive order from them recently and the customer service was shocking.

mimiasovitch · 17/06/2018 09:53

That jaeger top is perfect for a winter. Discovering blue was the biggest thing about being draped for me. For some reason I never even considered it, and I get soooo many compliments whenever I wear it.

I do like kettlewell, but mainly for tops. I love the colour choices, though not the prices for vests. I've had one dress from them, but it's a sizing thing for me that lets them down. I can wear the tops in a L, but the dress in a LL is snug around my hips and with jersey that isn't especially flattering!

TheWineDarkSea · 17/06/2018 12:33

I like the kettlewell tops, but have sent back jackets as they don’t work with boobs. Its hard to find the ice colours anywhere else, though - they’re often too yellowy.

MeTigger · 23/06/2018 21:23

Wanted to share these, I found them in phase eight sale and the colours (and style) are perfect for me - I bought two of each.

TheWineDarkSea · 25/06/2018 11:37

They're lovely - but work is air conditioned so I need sleeves on smart stuff (and even then, I usually feel chilly even with a jacket).

If you spot anything similar with 3/4 sleeves, do post it, please!

Redact · 30/06/2018 15:18

Enjoying all the links, some nice tops! I'm looking for a pair of white skinny jeans. Non see through is essential! Ive been wearing the Asda wonderfit jeans in black and indigo lately, love the fit of them but the white have all sold out, does anyone have any recommendations?
