What summer dresses can I wear with leggings?

Things that don't look weird with them!

I just discovered I love dresses but hate my legs, so don't want to wear them without leggings... The only ones I have are winter dresses so look OK with them, but I'm worried about summer dresses looking 'off' with leggings...

help please?

I think I may be very unfashionable. I wear dresses with jeans.

TwiceAsNiceAsIceAndaSlice · 25/04/2015 08:04

Nor me Usual.

Glamorous makes me think of Joan Collins Grin

MrsCampbellBlack · 25/04/2015 08:05

The begging had me Confused.

I don't like leggings with dresses but hey, wear what you want.

I can't imagine 50's style or bodycon dresses with leggings - to me it is that sensible boden tunic with leggings at toddler group thing.

Trinny and susannah advocated that didn't they.

Yy Joan Collins is very glam. Not a look I'm keen on.

ElizabethHoover · 25/04/2015 08:07

No she looks like she's in fancy dress although someone found a cool pic of her on Twitter. Hold on.

usualsuspect333 · 25/04/2015 08:09

I commit all sort of MN style and beauty sins.

I even own a Per Una cardi.

TwiceAsNiceAsIceAndaSlice · 25/04/2015 08:11

Ooh I have a Per Una cardi too Grin

ElizabethHoover · 25/04/2015 08:12

Gah can't find it. She's the same age as my mother

ElizabethHoover · 25/04/2015 08:13

Usual I'm sure per una are calming it down. I keep seeing stuff that you wouldn't know was per una

TwiceAsNiceAsIceAndaSlice · 25/04/2015 08:16

My Per Una cardi is 4 years old vintage.

usualsuspect333 · 25/04/2015 08:19

My Per Una cardi is from a charity shop.

I bet someone read S & B on here and got rid Grin

HappyGirlNow · 25/04/2015 08:28

elizabethoover really re Per Una? Is it better now?

I just remember every item of clothing ruined by some weird and completely unnecessary embellishment.... All their clothes had bits hanging off like they were shedding... Ew..

Limited Collection and Autograph occasionally had stuff worth looking at but the overall stores are hideous and I lost the will to go in for anything other than undies years ago..

InterOuta · 25/04/2015 08:35

I wear most dresses with leggings too. No one should tell us what to wear and what not to wear.

NerrSnerr · 25/04/2015 08:37

I'm not keen on leggings and dresses. To the pp who said they hide chunky calves, no they don't. It's more likely to draw attention to them

MrsGuyGarvey · 25/04/2015 08:44

I agree that leggings do not flatter an ample leg, they have often have a stretched shine and go dimpled making the wearer appear to have cellulite when they may not.

I am very pale so am aware of blue white legs at this time of year but as I see it there are two options available. 1 be confident and wear your Lilly white legs with pride, don't spoil a gorgeous summer dress with great stumps of black, don't be ashamed or cover them stride out with your English legs. Honestly confidence works and can be faked. Ask a lot of men what their type is and they'll say they don't really have one but confidence is very attractive.

Option 2 is fake tan - not hard to do.

PrimalLass · 25/04/2015 08:44

One of my friends always wears skirts/dresses with tights/leggings and looks great. I don't think I have ever seen her in jeans. She looks great in a very White Stuff way, which works perfectly for where we live.

I feel like a tit in a dress though, unless it's that other MN cardinal sin - a MAXI Grin

usualsuspect333 · 25/04/2015 08:51

I don't give a shit what men like. I don't dress to please men.

MrsGuyGarvey · 25/04/2015 09:03

Don't be daft usual suspects you're missing the point I'm not suggesting that any of us dress for men, just that confidence is the key to attractiveness regardless of size or white legs

mayfridaycomequickly · 25/04/2015 09:08

I've got lymphodoema in my leg - leggings are my saviour (I need to go and buy some today as mine are raggy) any recommendations? Usually just buy Dorothy Perkins! The fashion police on here would despair of me!

victoryinthekitchen · 25/04/2015 09:23

My sister wears leggings and tea dresses with little cardigans and lots of bracelets and she has men fawning after her. I don't and don't have the men fawning either :)
