Hi I have just been diagnosed as a jewel winter. My wardrobe is mainly black, greys and navy fortunately. I just need to get used to introducing colour! I have bought some scarves in red, cobalt and fuchsia. Looking for something in ice blue as always thought I couldn't do pastels! I can see that the brighter colours do suit me and am overall very happy with my diagnosis. I bought Chanel vitalumiere Aqua in 30 beige which looked a good match on me but it does not look like the same shade as the HOC light porcelain foundation that was recommended for me. Not sure if I'm overthinking this as 3 assistants all agreed it was a good match. Can anyone recommend a blush please that is similar to HOC 400, the icy pink one. Any recommendations for lipsticks will be much appreciated too. I can see they do make a huge difference but oh my it will take some getting used to!

Marmaladybird · 03/05/2015 12:56

I've identified myself as a bright/clear winter - as soon as I get time to do it, I'd love a consultation just to confirm it but I'm pretty sure. I'm going to have a look at those Pinterest links and start my own I think. I have no idea how to figure out the 'style' part - are there any questionnaires/helpful links to help identify it? Smile

clementine welcome. Are you on pin. We have a lipstick board that you could join.
marmalade welcome too. There's loads of quizzes out there. Just about to sort tea out but will link larer.

Thank you - according to those I'm Clear Winter Creative/Classic.

AmelieinOz · 05/05/2015 11:05

Hi!

I'm a Winter but I don't know how to classify if I'm a romantic winter or something else.

Mostly black, white, blue-based pinks look good on me. Silver jewelry. I'm a straight up winter through and through. I've always known brown shades don't look good on me, but it was only when I learned a bit about makeup (and was insisting on using coral blusher because it was summer then and I was living in a tropical country then eventhough it's garish on me) that I found out my skintone is called cool.

Glad I found this thread. I didn't know ice blue looks good on winter! Also I only recently found out cobalt looks good on winter.

Hi clementine, marmalade and amelie

I'm a classic ingenue jewel winter - I've had some real revelations since I had my colour analysis just over a year ago! I never used to wear lipstick and now I rarely leave the house without it (my current everyday lippy is a revlon lip butter in Sorbet), I feel drab without a bit of colour in my outfit and I definitely take a lot more care over my wardrobe - and it's great because almost everything coordinates! The ice colours don't do a lot for me - nothing above 50% and a couple at 25%, so I suspect any clothes shopping will be out for a few months. Will keep looking though!

Hope things are well with all you other Winters Smile

Twitchcoco · 05/05/2015 19:36

Any stone bottoms about? Looking for trousers but keep finding beige and camel!

NeitherHereOrThere · 05/05/2015 21:33

I had a pair of stone chinos a few years ago and I think these were from H&M (or possibly Gap).

AmelieinOz · 05/05/2015 21:50

Hi shadesofwinter! :)

Is the colour analysis done over the Internet? All I know about myself is that I am a winter. :) But I keep reading about being a jewel winter, classic winter, etc.

Clementinematilda · 05/05/2015 21:59

Thanks for the replies. I am on Pinterest. How do I find the lipstick board? I definitely look better in the brighter winter colours and they are mostly my 2 colours. I did get a 2 for ice hyacinth at 100% and ice blue at 75%. Also got a ** for charcoal. Anyone seen any nice scarves or tops in these colours?
Sorry I've not seen any stone coloured chinos but hoping to go shopping this weekend so will keep a lookout.

NeitherHereOrThere · 05/05/2015 22:06

Amelie - you find out what kind of winter you are by looking at your best rated colours (i.e 100% & double stars in the HoC system).

Clementinematilda · 05/05/2015 22:06

Hi Amelie I had my colours diagnosed by a house of colour consultant. To be honest I'm not sure how many types of a winter there are. I know there's jewel winter and sprinter winter.

shadesofwinter · 05/05/2015 22:20

twitch I think I tried on some stone trousers from Boden last year. Sizing was weird so I didn't keep any of the 3 size combinations I tried but maybe worth a look if you haven't already.

Amelie I went to a House of Colour consultant too. Jewel winters suit the brighter shades - emerald, cobalt, fuchsia, indigo are all ** colours for me. I think there are a few sultry winters on here, which I believe are the deeper colours in the winter palette. I think classic relates to style profile rather than colours but I could be wrong.

clementine make sure you share any purchases with us!

AmelieinOz · 05/05/2015 22:41

Thanks for the info Clementinematilda (for a moment there, I was surprised at your username - Clementine and matilda are two usernames I use in other sites! :P) and shadesofwinter. I live in Australia so no House of Colours here. Actually, my next questions would have been what does HOC mean! LOL. But based on the description, I'm a jewel winter through and through.

Re: makeup, the blue-based lipsticks work for me. Which is why I was so pissed at Chanel for discontinuing Chanel Rouge Allure Insolente.

QueenCardigan · 05/05/2015 22:44

clementine who are you on pin and I'll invite you to the board.

There's only a few more messages left on this thread now so I think I'll start the new one.....
