Hi butler. I have dark brown hair, which always went reddish as the colour faded. After my colour day I asked my hairdresser for a cool colour. I think we went for iced blueberry, though as I can't find this colour online I may be wrong, but your hairdresser should be able to advise you. I've had so many compliments since then. I must have been getting it wrong for years! I use Aveda black malva conditioner once a week too, which help neutralise any red tones. The colour lasts so much longer, as long as I keep my hair down at my temples!

Hi Everyone

Some great purchases here. I'm shopped out after Easter in the US, all my buys are on my Pinterest board Purchases 2015.

butler, I have a local hairdresser friend who does my hair, and we go for ash tones in my colour. Over time I still get reddy highlights, but they're fewer than when I used to home dye. I'd explain that anything warm goes orange in the sun, and they should then go for ash.

carrie74 · 26/04/2015 08:32

Oh yes and black malva is AMAZEBALLS. Get some.

NeitherHereOrThere · 26/04/2015 09:04

Another vote for black malva - I use it once or twice a week.

carrie74 · 26/04/2015 09:22

Oh and bought a new lipstick: MAC Capricious. It's a shade lighter than Plumful, and for me I think it's the perfect my lips but better. I think it's a good daytime colour, although it may not exactly be as bright as it should be.

NeitherHereOrThere · 26/04/2015 15:12

Got a new lipstick too - M&S Lipstick Limited in Plum which is quite dark and vampy.

Twitchcoco · 26/04/2015 18:32

Are there any clinique crayon lipsticks for winters? I like the finish of them.

Maraki · 26/04/2015 20:27

Re hair colour: as carrie said, go for ash tones. If your haidresser uses Loreal, go for anything with a '.1' after the main number. I use 6.1 and I'm a medium/dark brunette. The colour matches my natural hair colour (minus the grey).

Re Clinique chubbystucks: I love pudgy peony.

butlerchauffer · 27/04/2015 15:48

Thanks for the hair tips, will be brave! I love Clinique chubbysticks intense - mightiest marachino is a classic cool red and grandest grape a vibrant deep burgundy. Enjoy!

mimiasovitch · 27/04/2015 17:38

I think I'll try those two Butler. I have boots points waiting to be spent, and I'm trying to rein back my spending on other things, and am in need of frivolous purchases. Also my prescription sunspecs are dark brown, so obviously I need a new pair in black. I used to work in an opticians, so hopefully my old colleagues can offer me discount, or I'll be spending my summer in entirely the wrong colour!

mimiasovitch · 29/04/2015 21:08

Bought the both - they're lush Smile

Twitchcoco · 30/04/2015 08:38

Thanks for the lipstick recs!

Twitchcoco · 30/04/2015 19:50

Grandest grape was too purple for me but I ended up with a new pop lipstick instead.

butlerchauffer · 01/05/2015 14:01

Jackets... anyone found a good jersey blazer? Navy or cobalt would be fab!

ForSaleChesterDraws · 01/05/2015 14:07

Can anybody eexplain why I have been on this board since that first winter group and only just bought Plumful lipstick?

NeitherHereOrThere · 01/05/2015 17:30

Twitchcoco - here is my board

RaisingSteam · 01/05/2015 17:51

Can I chip in with some shoes? I need summer shoes for work, smart/business casual office. I'm a gamine so nothing too high or stilletto-like, but not sure ballet flats really do much for me (a bit stocky). Haven't anything at all except black, so need a light neutral before I look for anything colourful.

These, now would they be OK with knee skirts or ankle trousers? Or too Queen Mother?

Twitchcoco · 01/05/2015 18:15

Thank you neither, you've been really kind :)

NeitherHereOrThere · 01/05/2015 18:18

Twitch - no problem Smile

Raising - these shoes look quite ingenue in style rather than gamine? Have you tried loafers - these are now much lighter and less chunky?

NeitherHereOrThere · 01/05/2015 18:20

Or maybe these pumps?

RaisingSteam · 01/05/2015 19:46

Oh thank you. Yes I know what you mean about ingenue - need something more boyish. Agree will look at some loafers.

When I was at secondary school in the 1980s our uniform was grey and I had a rebellious pair of cobalt blue leather pumps I used to wear. They were from when M&S first started doing shoes! If I could find them again I'd be sorted.

NeitherHereOrThere · 01/05/2015 21:31

Grin nice to know I'm not the only one who still occasionally hanker over a few things I had in my youth...

QueenCardigan · 02/05/2015 08:47

raising I quite like those but I'm part ingenue. I think they could have the potential to look queen mother like though.

I've been doing some purchasing and returning. Will link now....

QueenCardigan · 02/05/2015 08:50

for when the sun shines again

QueenCardigan · 02/05/2015 08:52

absolutely lovely but decided I didn't really need it and £80 would be better off spent on something else so returned it
