Grin

It sucks getting older!

Nice jacket. You going to try it?

fooogle · 31/03/2015 21:34

Hello winters, pinkbadger I think I ordered that biker a while back as I really liked the shade. I've been through a few other options since so would be interested to know how you get on. Think I found it quite thick? I've now got two others on the go, neither of which I've actually worn yet !
Haircut today (he mentioned colouring...must be the greys I'm trying to ignore?!)

QueenCardigan · 01/04/2015 19:51

New bag arrived today. Can't find it on the fossil website anymore but found it here

ItsNotOkay · 03/04/2015 20:34

I've been recently diagnosed as a Jewel Winter and am very pleased to find this thread Grin

I'm attending an award ceremony in a few weeks and wondered what you all think of this dress. I haven't seen it in real life. I'm a size 18/20 which restricts the type of dresses I look reasonable in.

My * colours are royal purple, electric blue, lobelia, fushia, magenta, raspberry and carmine (is that a lot of * colours?). I'm thinking this dress is magenta/raspberry.

I need some ideas for accessories if anyone can suggest anything

That's a great dress which I'm sure will look lovely on you. I'll keep accessories quite simple, black heels and bag (maybe silver or navy).

I'm a Jewel Winter too. Welcome.

ItsNotOkay · 03/04/2015 21:58

Thanks Sorrel, I'm really pleased I found you all. I need to start reading through the whole thread.

I was thinking navy or silver too. Think I'm going to order the dress and see what it looks like in real life.

AsBrightAsAJewel · 04/04/2015 10:06

Welcome ItsNotOkay

Super dress - where is it from?
I'm a jewel winter as well, with identical * colours to you, plus green which I really can't get on with. But I do like the bright blue, bright pinks purple and red.

OP posts:
ItsNotOkay · 04/04/2015 13:43

AsBrightAsAJewel it is a Windsmoor dress and currently has 20% off in John Lewis and House of Fraser.

I'm the same with green, I want to like it but struggle to find the right shades. I really do like red, blues, purples and pinks so I suppose I'm lucky I'm a jewel winter Smile

AsBrightAsAJewel · 04/04/2015 14:12

I'm always on the look out for flattering tops in those bright jewel colours. My problem areas are my upper stomach/ribs and arms, so I look for something with at least elbow length sleeves that doesn't cling around the middle. I'll have to have a browse at Windsmoor, and if anyone sees anything suitable please post!

Welcome okay. Great dress.

The greens are meant to be some of my best colours but I struggle a bit too. I've got ane emerald cardigan but it took months of struggling for the right shade and a pine green cardigan which I'm not convinced is quite as cool and clear as it should be but love it anyway. So many greens are either too yellow and veer into spring or are too dull and teal-y.

didireallysaythat · 04/04/2015 22:43

I've ditched my highly starred colours and reverted back to black and navy, with electric blue or fushia scarves. I honestly don't like many of the other winter colours - the jewel ones are just about OK !

ItsNotOkay · 05/04/2015 01:25

I'm still getting to grips with it all. I went off buying lots of navy and then it dawned on me that there are lots of different shades of navy. No idea why I forgot that!

I'm trying to be braver with colours, I struggle with wearing more than one colour. I tend to do the same as didireallysaythat and stick with navy or black with some bright accessories.

NeitherHereOrThere · 05/04/2015 10:44

With navy, you do need to be careful - the darker/more intense the better.

The problem is that some navy coloured clothes fade quite quickly after a few washes and become a summer navy so I tend to use laundry detergent that's suitable for colours and wash/line dry these inside out.

Black is so much easier to buy but it can also fade if not looked after properly. Much of my working wardrobe is based on black with bits of bright colours in accessories - works well as I am a sultry winter.

pinkbadger · 05/04/2015 21:57

Decided not to try the berry biker - bikers are not really my style and it does look a bit heavy.
I did get the acid yellow ballerinas. The sole is tan coloured but I can live with that.
I dyed a denim jacket with Dylon denim blue machine dye yesterday. It's come out a really dark denim blue - better than expected! Need to get some more and do a couple of pairs of jeans.

BittersweetSymphony · 06/04/2015 03:39

Has anyone seen any sundresses in winter colours anywhere? I fancy a yellow one for this summer but can't seem to find any.

pinkbadger · 06/04/2015 20:16

Bought a light emerald spilt back 'silky' t-shirt in New Look this afternoon. Not my usual haunt but was with DD and they were right by the queue for the till. Can't link and out of stock online but quite a few in store.

Maraki · 06/04/2015 21:26

Hello everyone! I admit to being a lurker, I rarely post, but I bought an amazing electric blue dress which is incredibly flattering for my size 14/16 apple figure Smile. Be careful with the sizing though, it is HUGE! I got size 12. its not ok you may consider accessorising with black high heel gladiators and a statement necklace for the wedding and wearing it with leopard flats for work/casual the rest of the time.

I also got another super flattering [[http://www.next.co.uk/g302030s3#102442g30 sundress from Next]], which ventures a bit on the 'dark side' as it has a lot of orange. I hope the fouschia and black colours make it suitable for a winter though....

QueenCardigan · 06/04/2015 21:32

I try to wash my navy tops at just 30 degrees to try and minimise fading. Most of my wardobe is navy or grey tops with bright cardigans or bags. As a sprinter I'm deginitely best in brighter colours.

Maraki · 06/04/2015 21:57

Can someone tell me how to find the nails and lipstick pinterest board please? I've FINALLY figured out how pinterest works Blush

QueenCardigan · 06/04/2015 21:58

maraki who are you on pin? I need to add you to the group I think

Maraki · 06/04/2015 22:08

Not a very imaginitive name, I just used my initials :-)

QueenCardigan · 07/04/2015 08:18

I've followed you and have invited you to pin to the nails and lips board.

shadesofwinter · 08/04/2015 19:35

QueenC please could you also invite me to the Pinterest board? User name is my real name so would rather not put here but one of my boards is HoC jewel winter - classic ingenue. Thanks!

I'm due to pick up a House of Fraser order tomorrow containing:

this skirt, which I'm hoping will sit more on the knee on me as I'm a bit of a shorty, and

this, which I already have in the purple and navy

Will report back...

SorrelForbes · 09/04/2015 07:32

Bought a gorgeous Vera Wang dress on ebay last week. Alas, it is a taste to small in the boob department and makes me look like I'm doing an impersonation of Nancy in Oliver!

Before I put it back on ebay, is anyone interested? It's a size 12 and would fit someone who is a 10 or a 12 as long as they are under a G cup! 100% silk. Silk satin under layer with silk chiffon over layer. I paid £44 (Inc P&P).
