I bought this cardi recently from Phase Eight. Perfect for the classic part of my SP.

didi the dress came below my knees, I'm 5'6". I found it too casual to dress up and too expensive to wear in the garden!

SorrelForbes · 22/04/2015 09:25

Loving these but not loving the price! Please stop me buying them by telling me that the grey doesn't look 'cool' enough. Grin

I might order the blue and green Ravello Queen. The ones I have (charcoal, silver and red) are starting to look a bit tatty. Anyone got a code?

QueenCardigan · 22/04/2015 11:02

They're lovely sorrell. Look like a good match for stone Grin

I found a code online. Can't remember what it was but ifyou google something should come up.

misslemonsfilingcabinet · 25/04/2015 08:14

Hello Winters. Very uninspired and can't find much to excite me in the shops. Genuine shopping need of a smart jersey blazer and a jacket, but everything seems so cheap and badly made and the winter colours are prone to being man made fibre.
So nothing fun to add to the thread, I'm afraid, just a little moan.

PS LOVE the Ravello top but no green in the extra long version. Hope fellow winters are doing better than me and managing the spring into summer look!

blodynmawr · 25/04/2015 08:33

Boden code is RNST for 20% off and free del & ret

QueenCardigan · 25/04/2015 08:50

any good miss? I love the blue.

misslemonsfilingcabinet · 25/04/2015 11:22

QueenC! Yes! That's lovely. Thank you. I popped into local town and settled for an "it'll do" M and S navy jacket. Not much in the shops here. A nice navy and white striped skirt in H and M but ruined by the cheap finishing- misaligned stripes and large exposed cheap gold zip. I channeled my inner Patrick-off-of-sewing-bee and flounced! Cobalt tops in H and M and French Connection. Has anyone seen any slouchy fine knits? Such as maybe a silk, cotton, cashmere blend that is nice and light. Jigsaw had a few but all pastels I'm thinking maybe a slouchy fine v neck for wearing with pencil crops. Budget up to £120 for the perfect jumper.

misslemonsfilingcabinet · 25/04/2015 11:24

ps, some nice 7/8 pencil trousers in Primark in emerald or navy or cobalt. I didn't like the fabric (too shiny) but I'm a fussy so and so!

SorrelForbes · 25/04/2015 11:45

Thinking of buying this. Could be a useful dress.

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 25/04/2015 13:52

Can I join in? I'm a self diagnosed clear winter and i've just chucked out everything that doesn't fit or I don't like, makes me look awful etc.

I'm on the hunt for some nice tshirts/tops for every day wear in winter colours. I have a shortish torso so I need them slightly longer to balance me out. But I'm really struggling to find any basics, let alone some nice pretty ones that aren't boring and plain. Any ideas?

Twitchcoco · 25/04/2015 14:43

Check out kettlewell for basics. They even do them by season, clear winter should be fairly obvious.

Phase Eight had a lovely slouchy emerald green fine knit.

Bought a pair of navy linen trousers from M and Co. They do surprisingly good value basics too.

Twitchcoco · 25/04/2015 14:43

Nice shaped dress sorrel but I can't do shiny.

misslemonsfilingcabinet · 25/04/2015 14:45

The Thstyle. I found a few nice tops in French Connection, lots of colours and longer than they look
www.frenchconnection.com/product/Woman+Collections+Basics+Collection/766ZA/Polly+Plains+Pocket+T-Shirt.htm
www.frenchconnection.com/product/Woman+Collections+Basics+Collection/765ZM/Polly+Raw+Edge+Top.htm
www.frenchconnection.com/product/Woman+Collections+Basics+Collection/765ZM/Polly+Raw+Edge+Top.htm
But they're very synthetic.

Uniqlo heateach tops have a couple of matches.
Oasis and H and M had cobalt blue.

Hope that helps!

pinkbadger · 25/04/2015 18:21

Agree that FC have some good winter colours in their tops. Interesting to hear they are longer than they look as I am tall.

I am hoping to secure a new job which has a slightly less casual dress code than where I am now (which is 'dress to express' i.e. pretty much anything except offensive logos). May need to expand my wardrobe of smart trousers which is always a challenge being tall - I currently have two black pairs that is all. I seems jeggings would be OK though so long ad not too 'jeansy' - one of the women interviewing me was in burgundy jeggings and a black shirt.

Today I am wearing dark denim straight jeans (that look pretty skinny on me, as I have curvy legs), navy and black striped boat neck 3/4 sleeve t-shirt, grey skinny belt, grey Chelsea boots and grey lightweight parka. I felt I needed brightening up a bit despite my 'Grape Expectations' nail polish and similar lipstick.

Anyone seen any winter coloured summer weight scarves? Plain, spotted, striped or geometric print (nothing with flowers or animals). Emerald, raspberry, electric blue, cobalt, purple are all good on me. I'm having a google but not found anything yet...

Twitchcoco · 25/04/2015 18:43

Check out the pashminas on Amazon. I have a gorgeous emerald scarf for £10.

pinkbadger · 25/04/2015 18:54

The merlot looks lovely Twitchcoco. The green looks a bit 'grassy' is it more emerald in real life?

Twitchcoco · 25/04/2015 19:19

It looks emerald to me! The cranberry is a muted red, I couldn't be bothered to send it back but I love the green one. Mind you, after having my colours done a few years ago I'm quite comfortable with the swatch being a guide rather than an absolute match.

pinkbadger · 25/04/2015 20:41

The silver looks good too.

On a different subject I just came across this tall purple dress - I love it but have no practical need for it at all.

NowhereNow · 25/04/2015 20:52

I have one of these from a few years ago

m.marksandspencer.com/mt/www.marksandspencer.com/modal-bend-pashmina-scarf-with-wool/p/p22366228?OmnitureRedirect=pashmina&un_jtt_redirect

Despite having wool it's actually very lightweight.

didireallysaythat · 25/04/2015 22:05

I bought emerald, fushia and blue scarves from eBay - if you are just looking for a solid colour scarf eBay is great. Three for less than £10 - one silk, two cotton.

Maraki · 26/04/2015 07:46

pinkbadger how tall are you? I'm 5'10 and get long slim fit trousers with an elasticated waist fron M&S for work. Bargain at £25, they cover my ankles and are long enough to wear with heels and short enough to wear with flats.

the style I got some fabulous breton tops in primark! The material is nice and thick, they are long (reach leg break) but you need to size up. I'm a size 14 and bought them in size 20. Got the fouschia/white, black/white, and red/white. Short sleeved £3.50, long sleeved £4.50!!!

Got a lovely bright fluorescent deep fouschia pashmina for a fiver from a stall outside primark on Oxford street yesterday, it was a day if bargainous shopping!!

Finally found a long white top that isn't see through, it's V neck and perfect with darker colour cardigans and jackets.

Tried on a faboulous pink Next dress but I bought a pink dress already and I cannot justify buying another! The fit and colour are spot on though!!!

queen LOVE the green ravello top!

butlerchauffer · 26/04/2015 08:18

Hi Can anyone help with hair colour? I have medium / dark brown hair that lightens in the sun and is going grey in threads (yuk). I want to cover but am worried I'll be left with a reddish hue if I go semi-permanent and too dark / dull if I go permanent. Anyone had any good salon experiences? I find it hard persuading colourists that I don't want warm!
