Re that cardigan - is grape the same as magenta?

shadesofwinter · 09/04/2015 21:57

Do you mean the Linea cardigan neither? I've not seen the grape in real life but the others I have are pretty true to the on screen colour so looks like a good match for magenta.

Collected my pink cardigan and magenta skirt from HoF today and keeping both, really happy with them Smile

NeitherHereOrThere · 10/04/2015 06:41

Thanks - pleased you are happy with your purchases Smile

QueenCardigan · 10/04/2015 11:10

the ravello top arrived. I ordered the grey spot one but the background is just too cream. It's almost stone but it does nothing for me. But I absolutely love the shape and feel of it so I've ordered the blue, navy and silver! Not sure that the blue will be bright enough but will see when it arrives.

Maraki · 10/04/2015 19:44

Good luck with the ravello tops queen! I love the shape too and I practically live in them and cropped slim gap trousers for work in the summer.

Now, if anyone is a size 16, you may be interested in a heavily discounted jaeger dress. They only have 16s left, which I am. The colour is spot on, the fit flattering, it is lined, and the lace that goes over the lining not too 'flowery'. I love a bargain! (Well sort of, £40 is not a bargain, but the £120 reduction is impressive)

Ooh thanks lapomme. May have to take a trip there next week.

QueenCardigan · 12/04/2015 20:28

The blue and navy ravello are great. The silver is on a 6 week wait.

AmIaWinter · 15/04/2015 12:08

Hi there, I wonder if any of you can advise me...I had my colours done last week and came out as a jewel winter. I thought I would be a winter as I am drawn to bright blue and green and don't suit brown or cream (I don't think anyway) but I have got myself all confused now. The consultant told me not to wear any makeup for the session but I did. I am very pale indeed and have spent years trying to find a foundation pale enough for me - recently found one and thought that, as my face is only ever visible to the world with that particular foundation on, I was interested in what colours suited me whilst wearing it. I didn't see the point in matching my colours to my actual skin colour as I always wear foundation so my actual skin colour never sees the light of day.
Now I'm wondering if I was really wrong to do this and whether this has affected my diagnosis. Although I do still feel that I was right to an extent - what's the point in matching colours to my skin if I always wear foundation? Or have I got this all wrong...

shadesofwinter · 15/04/2015 21:10

One of the other Winters probably has more of an idea than me but in the meantime why don't you email your consultant and ask her? I know mine is more than happy for me to get in touch when I want to check something with her. I'm a jewel winter too, and I was so happy with the diagnosis!

fooogle · 16/04/2015 19:29

amIa I would email too like shades suggested? I get all muddled about foundation/skintone and things in relation to colour. Totally see your point though... How accurately does your foundation match do you think?

AmIaWinter · 16/04/2015 19:53

Thanks both. Maybe I will email her, I just feel a bit silly as I only just had my analysis! I think my foundation looks really good, it's not the same shade as my face though, I match it to my neck which is very pale. I've always thought my skin was pink rather than yellow. People have always said I suit bright blue and green and I definitely look better in white than cream so I guess I am a winter. I'm just confused about the whole skin thing, to spend an hour working ou what colours suit your bare skin and then put foundation on seems a bit silly to me unless the foundation is exactly the same tone as the skin. In my case, it definitely isn't, as I have to tone down my face which is much pinker than my white neck.

QueenCardigan · 18/04/2015 09:00

How's everyone doing with our lovely spring weather? I bought this in purple which is lovely, a bit lighter and brighter than damson, but the shape is bad on me. Lovely top thoug. Also got a navy ines de la fressange top from there that I'd been stalking for returns as it was out of stock. Fashion fate looked down on me and I was lucky to spot it in my size. No link as its out of stock again but for those that follow me on pin its in 'my wardobe'.

I also broke my ny resolution of no new nail Polish! I fella in love with rimmel neon fest. Gorgeous bright pink!

NigellasGuest · 18/04/2015 09:26

Hello everyone! I'm a dramatic gamine winter. Maraki I LOVE that cobalt blue dress you linked to and may well buy it! I'm also apple shaped. Thanks for the heads up about sizing down!

Queen you were one of the few posters to say you actually liked that Jigsaw skirt I linked to on my "is this skirt worth £110" thread... I haven't bought it but I'm keeping an eye out for the Jigsaw sale whenever that may be, and will see if it's reduced at all.

Here's a link to a green satin coat:
www.finerylondon.com/uk/products/caxton-satin-coat?taxon_id=9
what do we think of this?
In the photo it looks a bit dull in colour but I'm thinking that in RL it's brighter as they call it "jewel hued".

fooogle · 18/04/2015 23:00

Hello winters
Coat looks nice nigella scared i'd shred something satin though.
No amazing purchases here (apart from white mulberry satchel in charity shop... V excited)... Still in a mixed bag of clothes, crew cashmere and black skinny cords today.
Just noticed my hair is streaky white much more than i d cared to admit Does anyone home dye? If so, what with and how do I ensure it's cool toned...?

SorrelForbes · 19/04/2015 12:11

I think I'm spending too much time clothes shopping. I spotted a navy and white striped dress in the Celtic & Co magazine and was just about to order it when I realised I'd already ordered it in February Blush. It was cream rather than white so it went straight back!

QueenCardigan · 19/04/2015 14:47

Grin at sorrell.
nigella next time just come straight to us. We're encouraging enabling and if we don't think something is nice or right we say so nicely. Hope you get the skirt. I linked the trousers on here ages ago I think.

There is a new green boden ravello top. I've cancelled the silver and ordered it. Hoping it will be the perfect emerald but will report back.

QueenCardigan · 19/04/2015 14:48

ami no idea about the foundation but do email your consultant. I still regularly email mine in a panic!

Twitchcoco · 19/04/2015 14:56

Just ordered a couple of silk and cotton blend cardis from Woolovers in cobalt and fuchsia plus a magenta shrug.

Has anyone seen the kettlewell sweetheart dress in our winter colours? It's gorgeous in the blackberry print but no idea what to wear over it.

ForSaleChesterDraws · 19/04/2015 15:40

I want the green ravello top! Going to have to wait for it to go into the sale or have a good code.

Can anybody recommend some nail polish in the ice tones? I seem to find lots of pastels but not too many icy colours. Icy lavender would be the best shade.

Cheers!

didireallysaythat · 19/04/2015 19:18

I like the look of the kettlewell dress twitch but the consultant said natural romantics (perhaps just of my age) don't show their knees.... I'm looking for below the length skirts/dresses if anyone sees any - otherwise I'm spending the summer in black trousers and bootcut indigo jeans. Which wouldn't be too bad.

fooogle · 19/04/2015 19:28

forchester I had one that's near lilac but a bit verging on pastel not ice. Will check the brand.
Also had a barry m pale blue but really hard to apply for some reason.
It's in quick dry range.

fooogle · 19/04/2015 19:38

China glaze 'in a lily bit'and barry m 'eat my dust' are icy I think?

ForSaleChesterDraws · 19/04/2015 20:51

didireallysaythat- I'm a natural romantic and my consultant never mentioned anything about showing my knees. I don't think I'm meant to wear super short but that was it. As with everything it's all a guide and if you find something you love you should wear it.

Thanks for the nail polish recs. I've been thinking that shades like that are almost pastel. I'm not great with ice vs pastel.

Thank you!

didireallysaythat · 19/04/2015 21:23

Forsale it may have been my age - no skin tight anything, no knees, nothing a man could wear and pretty shoes. I guess romantics needs swishy fabric - swishy minis are a little too young, and unswishy aren't romantic.... Thankfully I'm short so the lovely dress modelled by the 5-10 size 4 model always looks different on me.
