SOTD an unknown sample from my perfume drawer, woodsy and irisy, am baffled but enjoying it!

I really felt like something fresh and uplifting today - hence James Heeleys Verveine d'eugenie.Lemon verbena with rhubarb is delicious.
I'm impressed at your 7 year old Shins wearing Lipstick Rose.My 15 year old likes Rose Roger and gallet for school.
Yes,I will return the broken bottle of perfume today.Mine was obviously packed by a dispatcher with no common sense.

SOTD: Tom Daxon Crushing Bloom sample, largely because I forgot to put on perfume this morning(!) and it was in my handbag. It's nice, though a bit BIG FLORAL for work: lots of rose and other flowers with some muskiness.

It does, however, manage to contain jasmine without making me feel slightly sick, which is an achievement. Normally anything jasminey turns to something godawful and headache-inducing on my skin.

Whoo hoo my 28 la Pausa arrived :) it's actually nicer than I remembered, am wafting about in ti as we speak

I find white florals incredibly difficult to wear too leedy. I've been known to have to retire to bed with the headache when I've persisted.

I want to like 28 La Pausa Wilting but I can't get on with it on me. It feels like it's a scent for elegant blonde women who can wear lots of beige and white without toddler fingerprints.

I bought some cheapie aftershaves last time I was in the US - Stetson by Coty and English Leather by Dana. I didn't have my copy of the Perfume book with me so could not remember if they were recommend or avoids. Turns out that Stetson was a recommend, and English Leather was an avoid.

I haven't opened the Stetson yet, but English Leather is pretty poor. It starts off with an plasticy citrus note (like industrial floor cleaner), then goes to a very dusty moss, and the leather note at the end smells like a knock off (p)leather goods shop. Thankfully on my skin the cologne splash vanishes almost instantly, but it does linger if it gets on your clothes.

leedy I love jasmine, I find it really dreamlike and hypnotic. Can be dangerous though - I wore my Serge Lutens A La Nuit sample last month during the warm weather and the bees went mental for it, I had to fight off half a dozen of them at once on my way to work

wilting I liked 28 La Pausa but found it very fleeting like most irises I've tried. I noticed when I bought my Chanel No. 19 last month that they've moved Les Exclusifs away from the handbag section in BT and beside the regular Chanel perfumes. I asked the SA for some samples and all she could offer me was poxy Coco Noir, no Exclusif at all. I was a bit dismayed, I've been the most shameless scrounger of Exclusifs samples up to now (the seven year old helps here, I point to her and say "Can she have one too?"), maybe I've ruined it for everybody!

I have just ordered a load of samples of things and it is ALL YOUR FAULT. Particularly looking forward to Ninfeo Mio.

Eau de campagne does, allegedly, have tomato in it - but it is a .... Wagnerian green scent - I reckon it has everything but the kitchen sink in it.

I love 28 la Pausa. I wish, wish, wish I were a well-groomed blonde, dressed in well-laundered shades of beige, toffee and caramel!

SOTD for me was Lynn Harris la poudree - work friendly but also very comforting.

I wish I could read back over the thread - I am sure there was something else ....

That's it! Yes, I have tried ninfeo mio - it was a tk maxx joy-find (goes misty at memory of the annivk gout alas in tk maxx). I know what huge fans of it you all are --- and you're right - it is beautiful.
I also gave a bottle to my father in law because I knew both he and his wife would love it. I was right.
Goodness. Summer seems a long, long way away this evening.

SOTD: Attache-moi - Iconofly (Nose sample). Comforting amber: opening notes include a distant waft of incense. Slightly synthetic amber/balsam dry-down (vaguely medicinal).

Enjoyed my Le Feu today. Have still been craving pear, though, so have been looking into the small bottles of Petite Cherie on e-bay (my small sample is not enough to really enjoy it, as I'm trying not to use much).. Trying to resist!

(Btw, in the list, next to Venezia Pastello it should say 1 or 3 ml, NOT 1 or 5 ml - I've just got something like 15 ml left in the bottle)

Talking about kids liking perfumes, my 5 year old DS loves anything and everything. Even Kenzo Jungle, which is a bit much for me..

SOTD: Marni Rose EDP, sort of peppery rose with blackcurrant and something greenish (and this, ladies, is why I don't write perfume descriptions professionally). Not massively unlike Diptyque's L'Ombre dans L'Eau.

SOTD is Felanilla, warm and sexy but not overtly so.

I actually had branches from my tomato plants in the house this summer- in the kitchen- and they smelled gorgeous. Just a few is all you need.

Anybody tried the new Bella Freud scents? I don't rate them. I was sent a press pack by a friend and they are very generic.

where on earth can you test all these rare chanel ones? didn't even know they existed. I'm stuck on arpege, can't find anything else that satisfies, though it is quite rich and not always what I want for daytime

8oreighty the Exclusifs are only sold in Chanel boutiques - the one I got them from is in a fancy department store in Dublin - most cities will have one I think.

Eclat d'arpege for me today.I had a school visit and wanted to wear something non-intrusive.This is my easy-to-wear fresh floral (love Lilac and Wisteria).

Sotd: Had a rummage at random in my sample drawer and pulled out Villoresi Alamut. It's a bit "after shavey" and soapy for my liking, but quite nice otherwise. Perhaps should put that up for swaps, as well..

SOTD for me is Tauer's L'air du desert Marrocain. I first tried this a couple of weeks ago and hated it, I had to wash it off. I thought it smelled like a cologne my grandad used to wear in the 80s. DH said it smelled like school teacher! I tried it again today and I love it. How could I have been so wrong?? I'm rubbish at describing scents though sorry.

Can anyone explain what a fourgere is / smells like please?
