Remember our chats??

Our SOTD (scent of the day)?

Is there a thread I've missed Shock

If not, lets take it up here :)

SOTD an unknown sample from my perfume drawer, woodsy and irisy, am baffled but enjoying it!

SOTD: Oriza Legrand's Chypre Mousse. Scary, mossy, damp foresty nightmare, I love it. I got some more samples from them and I'm enjoying them. Violettes du Czar reminds me of some violet scent I bought on a school trip to Rhyl in 1984. Heliotrope Blanc makes me think of Guerlain's Apres L'Ondee. They are so beautiful and retro.

niminypiminy · 19/04/2015 12:21

You interest me strangely, shins, those sound exactly the kind of things I like. Where did you get your samples from them?

shins · 19/04/2015 20:46

From their website www.orizaparfums.com/accueil_en.html
Samples are good value, you get seven for 20 euros.

Walkingonsunshine00 · 19/04/2015 20:55

SOTD: Calvin Klein - Shock stole from dd

FrugalFashionista · 20/04/2015 13:36

SOTD Cinema. Have been reading a book on the Guccis and thinking about Tom Ford. Weirldly I picked this, not one of the gazillions of TF samples I also have.

niminypiminy · 20/04/2015 14:38

SOTD: Knize Ten. I've had a meeting where I had to be serious, and a tiny dab of deep leathery loveliness felt like just the right thing.

shins · 20/04/2015 15:53

Sotd En Passant from my Malle samples. Lilac loveliness. Feels like spring.

FrugalFashionista · 21/04/2015 11:31

SOTD Prelude to Love, By Kilian. The name is totally misleading, I call this Prelude to Work as it is A brisk neroli-iris, one of my favorite office perfumes.

Itsalldramarama · 21/04/2015 11:39

sOTD is the last dregs of cuir de russi from a 30ml decant :(
Have a tiny bit of portrait of a lady by Malle left , il cry when it's all gone !! Love my perfumes but in financial dire straights and can't afford high end anymore !! Any cheap ones that smell expensive ...,, ? Waiting with baited breath..,,

niminypiminy · 21/04/2015 12:21

SOTD Chamade by Guerlain. It's a gloriously sunny day, and this is a wonderful daffodil-yellow perfume. I love it in all its phases, from the shredded-greenery in the rain violence of its opening, through the gradual development of its floral notes through to its golden heart.

I often think of perfumes in terms of their colours, or their sounds, or as a picture. Mind you, I think that's because I'm rubbish at detecting and identifying individual notes.

Itsalldrama have you thought of decants? Gerald's decants on Crystal Flacon is really very reasonable.

shins · 21/04/2015 12:32

Great description of Chamade niminy. I think of it as yellow/ green too with a kind of euphoric fizziness (perfumes have textures for me too Smile)

SOTD Lys Mediterranee by Malle...massive lily, something hot and salty about it.

Itsalldrama, yes, samples and decants..a lot of the niche brands do great sample sets on their own websites too

wiltingfast · 21/04/2015 13:41

Oo I love chamade :) wish I still had some!

I'm back on 28 La Pausa, can't seem to drag myself off it...

You poor think itsalldramarama! Have you access to anyone else doing a decant???? I'm in a FB group where we share perfume but everyone seems chanel'd out at the moment :( have already made enquiries for more 28 la pausa but didn't get any takers boo hoo.... pm me if you want details... might be worth joining anyway?

Despite my 28 la pausa obsession I did notice EA's Green Tea this morning on someone which I've also run out of but luckily isn't prohibitive to replace! Off to Allbeauty.com for me I think!

Trying out some new decants, ordered in a fit of extravagance! I have a splash of Maison Martin Margiela Lazy Sunday Morning on one wrist, and Angelique sous la Pluie on the other. I'm liking both, but Angelique is green and vanishing rapidly. Lazy Sunday Morning is reminiscent of Le Temps d'un Fete but a little less sweet in a style that pleases me.

FrugalFashionista · 22/04/2015 12:15

SOTD Black Violet from Tom Ford. On my way to the airport, spending a few days in Boston, no idea what the weather will be like but packed plenty of cold-weather clothes.

Itsalldramarama · 22/04/2015 13:07

Wiltingfast .... Just paid a visit to the perfumed court :) (made some cash on ebay :) ) they have 28 la pausA
Ordered some decants of cuir de russi , 28 la pausA, portrait of a lady and carnal flower! , happy for now
Delivery is normally 3 weeks ...
Champagne taste but brown ale budget isn't good ;)
SOTD is black Amber M&S !! !

cressetmama · 22/04/2015 14:58

My Perfumed Court order arrived today dramarama, so it only took about 10 days. They are not always so quick but I hope yours also get to you quickly.

goodasitgets · 22/04/2015 15:43

OneLittleLady · 23/04/2015 11:30

just ordered some4160 tuesday handbag sizes including tarts knicker draw, shazam, kiss by the fireside, tokyo cafe and old dark heart of havana.very excited about them arriving Grin Grin Grin

canny1234 · 23/04/2015 12:20

Sotd is Serge Lutens Laine de verre.I managed to score a very inexpensive bottle from Feel Unique.I've been wearing this for days - love it but ,it needs respraying frequently.I love the clean aromatic pine cleaner/herbal vibe of it.
I've also been buying perfume for dd1's 16th birthday. She requested Caroline Hererra's VIP but I also bought some Burberry Rythm hair scent ( which she really loves surprisingly). She's studying for her GCSE's really hard and hence needs a bit of spoiling.

niminypiminy · 23/04/2015 12:20

I'd love to like 4160 Tuesdays, but I just don't. I've got a sample of Tart's Knicker Drawer and it just smells like weak nothingy-ness. It's got no substance at all. I also have Paris 1946 which is supposed to be a big old-fashioned chypre and again its like a pale watercolour wash. The only one I really like is Sunshine and Pancakes which is a pleasant, light gourmand - not my favourite genre, but it's nice enough.

It's a shame because I think what they are doing is admirable.

SOTD: Caron Farnesiana. Having just said gourmands aren't my thing, this is one -- well, a bit, anyway. Mimosa and marzipan, two of my favourite things. I like the slight bitter edge to it, so that it's not too sweet, but still comforting on a cold day.

FrugalFashionista · 23/04/2015 12:30

Niminy are you me? I absolutely love Farnesiana. It's a treat though, not an everyday perfume,

Wish I could try Sunshine & Pancakes somewhere, sounds right up my street Wink The other Tuesdays are well made but there is something about them that makes them really pretty but just a bit empty and soulless (in the best possible way, think EL Beautiful).

Great duty frees yesterday, I appreciate it if I can sample Tom Ford private blends before boarding the plane Grin

Having my breakfast right now in a hotel bed wearing Vega.

nochurniscream · 18/05/2015 21:51

Place marking so I can come back and see where you all get your samples from! Smile

Just got myself some Diptyque Do Son having loved a sample, and ordered some Roger and Gallet Fleur de Figuier having read about it on a blog today - never smelt it but sounds delicious and was £27 instead of £41, oops Blush

Looking forward to discovering more scents and not just reverting back to Chanel mademoiselle again

SirVixofVixHall · 22/05/2015 14:06

I ordered a sample of Chypre Mousse, as shins, your description of a green foresty nightmare sounded amazing! I can't cope with it though, there is something I love in there, but overlaying that is an acrid note that makes me very nauseous, I had to scrub my wrists with oil to get it off. Shame. So todays SOTD is one of the other samples in the box, Royal Oeillet. (What does Oeillet mean? Google says "eyelet", which seem somewhat bizarre) Anyway it is rather lovely, like a very floral honey my dds think, and to me it smells like the nectar of a highly scented flower, like honeysuckle, but with something spicier, like a carnation. It reminds me of a softer Bellodgia in some ways.
I also this week received the samples from Malle, they certianly guessed right for me as I like them all. I am quite taken with Epices noir, and Musc Ravageur is delicious too. I had smelled Parfum de Therese before, and have mulled over getting a proper bottle, i think I like Edmond Roudnistska's fragrances in all their forms.

OneLittleLady · 22/05/2015 14:12

niminy funny you say that about paris 1946 being like a watercolour wash as it lasts FOREVER on me. I put it on the other morning at 6am and I was still getting big wafts at 8pm that night.

I love all my 4160 tuesdays perfumes, especially who knew?, paris 1946 and tarts knicker drawer. all of them are huge on my skin, very deep and just BIG. really looking forward to having the funds to buy a big bottle for myself, the only problem will be choosing which one i love the most
