There's a chill in the air as we head towards Autumn. Some of us may have jetted off to sunnier spots, some of us are lounging on yachts (kind of) but we're still going strong 44 editions in. Come and join us for fun, friendly fashion and beauty chat. All welcome, any budget. :)

bag for one/amber

QueenCardigan · 31/08/2014 14:09

another bag for one

LinusDKD · 31/08/2014 16:58

Lovely Givenchy bag queenc

Might have to pop into Hobbs when I'm in London as I like the look of those scarves you linked to, both the pink and blue.

What is the MNV opinion on this

I love the look of it but I'm worried it might be too masculine for me.

OneLittleLady · 31/08/2014 16:58

I love those bags queenC!

BrandyAlexander · 31/08/2014 17:18

I love that top Linus and I say that as a hater of plaid!Blush

I have just discovered the bag thread and posted what I think is going to be my new bag on it. The Chloe Paraty in grey.

santamarianovella · 31/08/2014 17:19

linus I linked this top a few days ago,I like it too,but i think its too boyish for me, I would like a bit of movement and slouch, but the fabric looks too heavy for that, I like the look of this more or something similar to it

LinusDKD · 31/08/2014 17:28

Oh did you santa? I didn't see.

I just love the colours but maybe you're right, the fabric does look heavy. I do like 'boyish' though, just not masculine (on me anyway, as I said last week)

Would like to try it on though, which store sells APC in London?

That Equipment shirt looks nice as well and it's cotton so more DC friendly than their silk shirts.

I love that kind of grey novice! I am really trying not to be tempted by that bag thread as I am saving up unsuccessfully for a Chanel bag.

santamarianovella · 31/08/2014 17:54

I agree linus the colours of the APC shirt is much nicer, and would look great on you, maybe size up for a more relaxed look, liberty stocks them and there is a store in London I'm sure of that just don't know exactly where, I think shoreditch??

santamarianovella · 31/08/2014 18:09

Lol,I just had a mental picture of me wearing this jacket,
Does anyone remember the movie dumb and dumber? I recall jim Cary wearing something like that when they started spending all that money and went to aspen,

LinusDKD · 31/08/2014 18:36

Thanks santa, will check out those shops.

They also seem to have a shop in Antwerp but I won't have time to pop in next weekend when I'm back home.

All I remember from Dumb and Dumber is JC's horrible haircut and chipped tooth. Grin

Fedupnagging · 31/08/2014 19:49

Welcome back Novice, sounds like a fab holiday. Love the Chloe paraty. And the purple one Queen linked too for that matter.

Linus, 'masculine' clothes definitely need to be tried on before you judge - they can look so different depending on what you team them with including makeup.

After a summer off, it's all back to normal in the Fedup household. Spent the morning watching ds play football and back to work tomorrow Sad. Am guessing Dry is back too this week?

Drywhiteplease · 31/08/2014 21:05

Yup Fedup I am Sad Sad Sad I could do with a month off to sort out my absolute tip of a house though.

AND I've had a month of no spending on clothes, one more to go not v hard as nothing I need right now, although plenty I wantWink

QueenCardigan · 31/08/2014 21:25

Are you saving up for something in particular dry?
linus the colours f that shirt are gorgeous but yes it does look a bit stiff. Not sure how those pockets would sit on boobs either but definitely worth a try.
Crappy day here as dh had to go up north as fil in hospital. Ds has a temperature and so has just wanted cuddles but little dd has been bored/jealous and playing up.

Drywhiteplease · 31/08/2014 21:27

Oh and welcome home Novice

And to whoever recommended "A light between Oceans" a while ago, thank you thank you, what a wonderful book, loved it.
"The shock of the Fall" and "The Rosie Project" were 2 other very different but great holiday reads.
Have just bought see no spending on "clothes" I saidWink "Goldfinch" and "I am Pilgrim"..... Doubt I'll be sorting my house any time soon Grin

Drywhiteplease · 31/08/2014 21:32

QueenC I have temporarily grown up and realised I should really contribute a bit of my earnings to our house project have so far bought a loo roll holder and a toilet brush from John Lewis[grin DH has bought a new bedroom and dressing room and 2 bathrooms, I think that's fair Grin.

BUT when I'm done I would like to try:
these for work
these for play
And was wanting a dress for Christmas parties, but now fancy a leather skirt Shock

BrandyAlexander · 31/08/2014 21:33

Goodness I am shattered! The washing machine has been on constantly since we got back and you can't move in the laundry room with all the laundry baskets of clothes for ironing. I feel v lucky I don't have to do that too!

So, I managed to sum up the energy to try on the LKB trench. It's lovely, except the 8 is too big and for a coat I suspect the 6 might be too small. The sleeves are too long and I feel like I am a little girl wearing my mum's coat!

Back to school tomorrow for the dcs. It's ds' first day in the pre-reception class. I am holding it together reasonably well thus far but....When dd started at reception last year, I wailed when she went into classroom and my stomach churned the whole day with anxiety for her. 3pm couldn't come soon enough!

Topazandpearl · 31/08/2014 21:43

I think that M&S jacket will be great on you novice but am worried that the lkb trench will swamp you (unless I comes in a petite).

I love that scarf in raspberry QueenC.

I like that shirt Linus, it would be no good for me as I tend to avoid pockets in the boob area. It says dry-clean only, which would be a worry in a shirt (haven't washed the Next trousers yet Lib!) The pockets on the Equipment shirt are less 'obvious' santa.

Lovely bag choice novice. When I bought my purple Coach bag, I had been really tempted by it in grey but decided that I would use the purple more. I still have a hankering for a grey bag though.

Good luck with the return to work fedup and dry. I have been back for a week and a half but it all kicks into gear this week. Also, DH will be away all week so I will have gone from having a houseful, with DS and DD home on and off during the summer, to just me and the dogs this week. I will be out with friends a couple of nights, and intend using the rest of the time in the evenings for getting ahead with work.

I agree that that the Londoners should sort the meet up. I will come if I can and, at the moment, those weekends are still free.

The weather us meant to be better this week so maybe the summer outfits will get another outing! Have a good week everyone.

Drywhiteplease · 31/08/2014 21:45

Oh Novice I bet he's excited though.
Shop good luck to you and DS tomorrow(?) too.
And to any other new starters....I'll be taking my box of tissues in for the teary parents Smile and giving them stickers if they're brave!

libertychick · 31/08/2014 21:50

I would like a night out too for Xmas MU if we can do it. Weekend 13th better than 20th but both OK.

Topazandpearl · 31/08/2014 21:50

Glad you liked the book dry. I think it was my recommendation. It was my choice for my book group and it led to a great discussion on the rights and wrongs of the choices made.

I loved The Goldfinch too. I must look at your other books as we obviously have similar taste in books.

X post about the trench novice. Good luck with coping with tomorrow.

BrandyAlexander · 31/08/2014 22:00

Topaz you were so right about swamping! Every once in a while I forget I am not as tall as Marsha or Shop and buy something that makes me look like I am playing grown ups!!

My holiday reading were magazines. Lots and lots of them.BlushGrin

OneLittleLady · 31/08/2014 22:31

I'm sure Ds will be fine novice brave it out and have an extra big hug when you see him afterwards Thanks

Arghhh, half my clothes are too big now! My jeans are hanging round my bum, my dresses are too big on the waist and my boobs don't fill my tops out anymore! this weight loss thing is expensive!

Topazandpearl · 31/08/2014 22:42

But oh so well done One!

DS has just phoned and I was so pleased to hear from him and that he sounds happy. He is starting his first grown up job tomorrow and I am nervous for him. It doesn't change as they get older novice...

Fedupnagging · 31/08/2014 22:48

Topaz enjoy the peace and quiet and time to yourself.

Novice someone linked a shorter Burberry trench recently, that may be better for you as you are tiny. Good luck for your ds tomorrow - And you

Dry, I also read Shock of the fall, Rosie Project and Goldfinch (100 pages too long IMHO!) so as we seem to like similar books will def try the first one you mentioned. My favourite book this summer was Saving Fish from Drowning by Amy Tan.
