There's a chill in the air as we head towards Autumn. Some of us may have jetted off to sunnier spots, some of us are lounging on yachts (kind of) but we're still going strong 44 editions in. Come and join us for fun, friendly fashion and beauty chat. All welcome, any budget. :)

Morning!

Yes, novice look at Burberry. They have a gorgeous red trench (I think Butberry Brit)

For all of those that have DC starting school today, good luck!

And good luck to their teachers too! Wink

QueenCardigan · 01/09/2014 07:52

Morning. A crappy night with the little hot boy. I'm just hoping he'll be better for school on Wednesday as I don't really want him to miss the first day back.
Good luck novice and novicejnr. I'll be a mess next year when little dd starts.
Good luck to topazjnr too.

QueenCardigan · 01/09/2014 07:53

Meant to say if you haven't already had the email, gap will be 30% off from 4-8 September.

Sleepwhenidie · 01/09/2014 08:28

I am also drowning in laundry here, though I have just about sorted the rest of the house. I have a huge list of admin type stuff to get through from today.

Good luck to everyone in new jobs and schools today Flowers. Ds2 starts reception on Wednesday so I am bracing myself Sad. He can't wait!

Novice I love that Paraty.

shopafrolic · 01/09/2014 09:32

Morning all. Sorry - I haven't caught up but just wanted to say I have a £10 off Boden code which expires today. And one for 15% off with free delivery. PM me if you'd like them (I assume they are transferable).

:( he wailed when we left. A lot.Sad

OneLittleLady · 01/09/2014 09:41

Oh novice try to distract yourself, I'm sure the staff are looking after Ds really well and he will end up having a great time Thanks

BrandyAlexander · 01/09/2014 09:50

Thanks One. It's so hard.Sad

OneLittleLady · 01/09/2014 09:56

I Know novice I cried buckets when Ds first went into nursery but he ended up having a great day despite some tears. I'm sure the staff will be in touch if they need you so try not to worry too much

libertychick · 01/09/2014 11:28

I hope DS is ok QueenC.

Hugs for Novice. It's horrible leaving them crying. He will be ok but it doesn't make it easier for you.

Sleep quite a milestone having all 3 at school. Hope all goes well on Wednesday.

Acne trousers arrived this morning and they are HUGE which is really strange as they are the same size as the pencil skirt I have from them. I am now giving up with ordering trousers on line and will just find some time to get into real shops.

MiH blouse is also going back Sad. Really disappointed about this but it's not white, more cream and it's a bit too sheer.

Zadig top is a keeper note it's not workwear good shape and I think it will be really useful. Definitely couldn't bring myself to pay full price on it though.

Hello MNVers

Back from holiday and it feels like autumn is upon us, I'm definitely not ready for it.

I need to catch up big time but hope all school starters are coping. We have a staggered start so DD1 doesn't start til next Friday which is quite a relief as I have only just ordered name tags and not sorted out a PE kit yet [but does mean I'm paying an extra 2 weeks childcare]

Anyone else not have a uniform? Any top tips for coping? DD1 is a prima donna already so am sure we're going to have school clothes wars.

QueenCardigan · 01/09/2014 13:51

Welcome back stokey. We have uniform and I'm so glad we do otherwise it would really stress dd out if she had to choose clothes every day.

Ds has tonsillitis again but started on antibiotics so hopefully should be well for Wednesday. A lovely friend took dd out today for me so I was able to catch up on some sleep. An hour and a half on the sofa whilst ds played wii. Bliss.

Rainy here again today so feeling autumnal again after a brief summer interlude. Total fashion fail in slobbing at home clothes.

libertychick · 01/09/2014 14:28

Stokey I didn't wear a school uniform in primary school - it was the 80's in rural Ireland so not as much pressure to look a certain way as there is now but I do remember a bit of worrying about it. My Mum hated the fact there was no uniform!! Her solution was that we had a 'school wardrobe' and we had to change out of our 'school clothes' when we got home to maintain the distinction. My school wardrobe was 2/3 pairs of cords (my Mum hated jeans) and 3 sweaters/jumpers in colours that went with the cords, pair of school shoes (always clarks) and a coat. It was all quite colourful and we were allowed to pick sweaters with whatever we were into at the time, for some reason I can't remember what I had but I remember my brothers having superman / spiderman / ninja turtles etc.

Stokey · 01/09/2014 14:53

Sounds like a school wardrobe or drawer is a good idea - and means less name-taping, although I bought the sticky ones as don't sew or iron

She refuses to wear trousers or jeans (unless it's snowing) but think i'll get a few pinafore type dresses that can be worn with various long-sleeved t-shirts and cardies, hopefully that will suffice.

The school says they want the children to express their individuality but I assume they won't be impressed if she turns up in a princess dress every day.

MarshaBrady · 01/09/2014 14:54

argh sodding John Lewis. I thought they were meant to be a good safe trustworthy brand. ARGH

MarshaBrady · 01/09/2014 15:00

This jumper has arrived. But it's a bit short and the neck is oddly small. And I feel like a skier. Good quality though!

libertychick · 01/09/2014 15:03

. You can tell us....

I'm about to sound like one of those MH bosom hoickers but a school saying that would piss me right off Stokey - presumably you are paying for the individuality and at school children need clothes they can move in, are comfortable and will survive getting covered in glue, paint, grass stains etc (realises I am really my mother at heart Grin)

MarshaBrady · 01/09/2014 15:05

They cost me £50 as they said I couldn't get the Bosch oven I wanted without using an electrician to change some amp thing. Then the electrician said what?? no problem you have loads of amps.

So now I've wasted £50 for the call out and our new Bosch oven won't be here on Thursday and I have no oven.

The electrician just thought it was nuts that they said I couldn't

libertychick · 01/09/2014 15:10

That should have been MN not MH Grin

libertychick · 01/09/2014 15:11

That is a bit crap - I would call them up, complain and see if you can get £50 off your oven.

MarshaBrady · 01/09/2014 15:18

Will suggest it Lib, was so happy to be getting oven by Thursday too. It's a pain not to have one.

Ah well

MarshaBrady · 01/09/2014 15:56

And sending the skier jumper back as it felt all wrong.

Stokey · 01/09/2014 16:02

Quite agree Liberty - and it's a state school. Surely uniforms should be compulosry?
