Come and join us for friendly fashion chat. Some of our glasses are empty because we're trying to loose weight, but were still happy, non judgemental, flippant and welcoming lot. We love new visitors (ESP Shop who will hug you)

Right now I am at DSis in rainy North Wales, then we have 5 days in Worcestershire, then a week in St Ives...where I need to plan house redecoration, I'm loving the interiors section of ST Style today, lots of colour is definitely what we need to put in the house we just bought. We will be taking lots of tester pots. Anyone here gone bold with bright colours at home? Any ideas/pics/links v welcome!

MarshaBrady · 06/04/2014 12:56

Ok thoughts on a quick flick through ST Style.

Yes! For eggs, no impact on cholesterol. I've cut back, but I still love them in the morning so that is music to my ears. I like all that advice, it's how I eat. Really pleased it's becoming mainstream. And Sleep your advice is brill on here too, you have a great manner (it's so easy for people to become defensive, you have the right tone imo).

Kate Moss doing an interview. No no the best thing about Kate is she doesn't do them, if you have the cache don't throw it away.

Which leads me to those M&S adverts. They are worse than I thought. They look so bad, the styling and the art direction. Why are these women doing them, is it the draw of a famous photographer and finally becoming mainstream, or preferable to being forgotten I suppose. Tracy Emin, Annie Lenox.. And why style Alex Wek like that? It's awful and all seems like a stereotype.

Socks and shoes. Not sure they may have got the same press release as The Guardian. Not sure who would be pushing socks and shoes.

And that's a rather long post.

MarshaBrady · 06/04/2014 12:59

And I don't think Annie L etc should not be in things, but why so silly. Do it straight, they are good at what they do / did.

Sleepwhenidie · 06/04/2014 13:02

Smile even DH (not usually one to notice such things) commented on how bad the m&s ad is this morning!

Sleepwhenidie · 06/04/2014 13:04

What are everyone's thoughts on the KM collection pieces in the article? I like the mesh top but could be tricky to pull off in RL wrt bra etc Hmm. The fringed leather jacket is cool but maybe too cool for me (shades of mutton perhaps..)

Sleepwhenidie · 06/04/2014 13:05

Oh and thanks for the compliment Marsha Blush

MarshaBrady · 06/04/2014 13:08

Anytime! I love the yellow dress but for me when I was younger.

Drywhiteplease · 06/04/2014 13:09

It's Emma Thompson's quizzical face that particularly gets me. Liz jones sorry, sorry has recreated the ad in the MOS today and rated the actual outfits.highest score6/10... Basically all a load of crap.

MarshaBrady · 06/04/2014 13:11

Me too, and Annie L's face. Actually the three to the right, they look so funny with the posing.

Drywhiteplease · 06/04/2014 13:13

And the diet stuff is great. I love eggs steak,chicke,fish...protein junkie and anything green and brown works for me. I'm also a Lindt 90% woman. Happy

MarshaBrady · 06/04/2014 13:16

Oh no, Dry hope you are ok. Do you want to say what happened, here if so, distraction if not.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 06/04/2014 13:28

Oh dear Dry I'm sure she feels just as bad as you, I know I would with my mum. Hope you can sort it with her soon and have a hug.

Sleep sounds like a fab time away, how exciting about the house. Unfortunately we have no brights in our house (first house, we obviously aren't adventurous enough yet!) and it's all magnolia (was easiest to have done before we moved in). I love the idea though and am picturing lots of cheerful yellows and blues for a seaside place.

santamarianovella · 06/04/2014 13:52

Oh dry don't feel bad,its very natural at her age,

marsha I still don't know why M&S bother, after their big reshape last year, they still failed to make a profit, they should trying to compete with other high street giants like Zara, they should stick with what they do best, and try to improve it more,

sleep are you going for a traditional cornish coastal design?

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 06/04/2014 13:53

Finally - a day off and have enjoyed reading through the last few pages.

Things super-hectic now the season proper has started and this is the first day I haven't had to put in a full day at work in 6 weeks. Also my lovely cleaner has family illness to contend with and we are not coping well without her - what with the 7-day/night weeks working, a domestically useless husband and 2 demanding and untidy daughters, there's not been much time for anything, even online shopping/browsing. I am shattered and the fridge is woefully bare.

I did score the Tory Burch dress for Ascot, but now it's here I'm not sure about it. The top fits quite snugly but the waist, hips and length are a bit generous for me. I did look a fright when i was trying it on, so that may not have helped, but I'm trying to decide whether or not it's worth keeping. It looks nothing like this on me, more sack-like (albeit a beautiful sack). Perhaps I need a good tailor.

QueenCadbury · 06/04/2014 14:00

Hello just popping in to say hello. It's wet and cold here in Wales so we're having a lazy afternoon in the lodge. I totally didn't pack enough warm clothes and I only packed 2 pairs of trousers for me which are both wet and muddy! Other than the weather we're having a great time though.

For those of you that have read Style what do you think of the KM collection? It looks pretty similar to what she did years ago snd I'm really not sure who it will appeal to. Is she really relevant to the youngsters who shop at topshop? And did you see that a 6 grand dress will be sold exclusively at NAP?

Love the quirkiness of the muni mui purple shoes with red socks though.

And what's with the article about Maidstone mums and going on about how great Next is? I've liked a lot more of their stuff this season than ever before but they really need to sort out their shapes and sizing. I'm on the verge of being sized out of next as I need a size 6 in tops Hmm.

santamarianovella · 06/04/2014 14:35

blair forgot to tell you that I really love that skirt, very vibrant,

grumpy I think Tory burch dresses are all like that, the fit is a bit off,its very pretty though.

queen your weekend sounds fab.

AmberNectarine · 06/04/2014 16:12

More power to you for crop top and shorts novice, the idea of wearing shorts at the gym makes me want to cry - I go to a gym on my work premises full of colleagues and there are some things that can't be unseen.

I didn't rate the KM collection. I thought it was very like her others and I don't really do boho.

The M&S campaign is dire too. That horrible cowl neck playsuit they put Rita Ora in is a crime against humanity.

OneLittleLady · 06/04/2014 16:33

Dp is home safely. He brought me a beautiful silver bangle that has the words 'count your rainbows not your thunderstorms' engraved on it and a silver music notes necklace. Plus some make up bits and bobs I'd given him the money for. I must confess that he also brought me peanut butter M&M's back as I love them! Grin

Fedupnagging · 06/04/2014 16:53

Glad your dp is home safely One, esp as he is bearing gifts.

Like the pencil skirts you have bought Dry and Blair. Will you wear with heels? (Dry hope you have "made friends" again with dd).

Grumpy the tory burch dress is really very lovely but if you dont feel comfortable in it, it is probably not worth buying.

Have just checked out the M&S campaign-am underwhelmed to say the least. I don't think any of the models look particularly good at all and I dont know what to say about the clothes!!

For those of you with a Costco card, they have haivainas for £12 + vat. I chucked these ( in ice violet, not green) in the trolley yesterday. They also have fit flop all stars for about £30ish.

Fedupnagging · 06/04/2014 16:56

Have just noticed these birds. Love them.

MarshaBrady · 06/04/2014 17:20

Me too, they're fab.

MarshaBrady · 06/04/2014 17:41

Grumpy it is beautiful but it needs to be right, otherwise it will bug you. Ok if a tailor can make it perfect.

Does anyone listen to Iggy Pop on a Sunday? 6 music. Great voice.

BrandyAlexander · 06/04/2014 17:44

Those are lovely havianas. I lived in mine, our last holiday in the Med. I shall probably do the same from tomorrow.

QueenC, I have spent a week in Wales in winter when I didn't pack enough layers- nightmare!

One, glad to see your dp back safe and sound bearing gifts :)

We are mostly packed, just popped to Clark's to get these sandals and these casual shoes for ds, plus, these sandals for dd. £70 and a headache later....!

Sleep, I am just dipping my toes in the whole bold colour thing too. No advice but am finding Pin useful!

Drywhiteplease · 06/04/2014 17:55

sleep I'm rubbish with bold colour...... from DDs room which has a fushia pink feature wall and bright soft furnishings and looks fab. I want to do my new bedroom purple and grey, that's as bold as I get.
fedup neither of us are sulkers and have had a hug. Bloody frustrating that she doesn't work hard enough at school, says things that make her sound like a dimwit, is more interested in One Direction than reading books and doesn't have a clue about what's going on in the world. Apart from that all is rosy. Just told her she needs to pull her socks worn with heels up or she'll get a crap job and be a looser. Great mother Sad

Oh and I'm planning to wear my pencil skirt with kitten heel sling backs in nude (like in pin) and am thinking I might need the Boden silver flat sling backs amber and Eve worn out have.
