Hi hoping for some advice please, does anyone have any recommendations of style blogs, don't want anything too high fashion, just general every day wear, in need of some inspiration.

Thanks :)

Oh yes, wear and where can be good too.
And agree, the how to shop stuff is dire.

What's the fashion at 40 thing? I missed that.

Ignoring Alaska's dislike of blogs...

ThankFifi is another good blog : woman in Scotland and her dog. She wears some great stuff, beyond just skinnies, writes wittily ( and succinctly) and her hair is gorgeous Envy. It's interesting how, for me, some of the blogs I look at are more about me liking the blogger than what they are wearing.

For a highly amusing lifestyle blog, look at The Londoner: Sloaney rather thrilled about her lifestyle.

Oh the Londoner is hilarious - its MIC on a blog.

I've noticed a lot of cheaper clothes appearing in fashion blogs recently (from bloggers who wouldn't previously have used Primark or Dorothy Perkins) and I often wonder if they have rushed out and bought something cheap just so they have another outfit to blog about the next day. I used to love Style Guile as she had always used brands that I wear but I have to admit I have switched off as she has started to use more Primark. I also think School Gate Style is guilty of this. Surely it is better to have clothes that last a long time rather than lots that are only worn once or twice for the sake of fashion or a blog post.

True Fallon. Thing is if you're not gifted masses of stuff and you don't have a vast budget its hard to keep blogging clothes stuff. And if you don't blog regularly then people stop reading.

I know it's a catch 22 situation, I just feel very strongly about cheap fashion and clothes becoming so disposable.

I think that's one I'd the reasons I like the Frugality though, as I want to be WIT when I grow up!! I also find her a bit less smug than WIT and a bit more accessible in terms of budget.

And can I just say yawn, yawn, yawn, to retro clothes blogs for larger ladies. You're not original, it's as overdone and formulaic as the banker's wives in scarves blogs. There are modern clothes with waists you know!

I also agree about liking the blogger being important. I don't get along with the type of clothes Bum 40 likes as I have a different body shape but I like her writing style so keep reading.

Yep I agree. Man R especially, different style but great personality. Also love the idea behind it.

WiT too as she is do pretty with all the baby, lifestyle stuff thrown in.

And Camille although I don't read it much. Amber is good to read.

Thanks Alsaka, will try and follow. Not sure of partaking in the no retail, tho in fairness I have been marvellously restrained over the sales. No, seriously I have been.

Not so keen on Thankfifi. Must check out the Londoner.

I don't believe that thanksfifi walks her dog in those outfits...
Maybe thats why the dog looks so fat?!

Report
bunnymother · 02/01/2014 11:40

Oh. I thought the dog looked fluffy, not fat. But I'm not a dog owner.

Love the look of thankfifi. Going to spend a while going through that one. I would be the worst fashion blogger ever as I would hardly tell my best friend where I buy things! I hate someone else having the same as me and I spend ages hunting for the right clothes so why share my secrets Grin Is anyone else like this or am I weird?

Gillybobs · 02/01/2014 22:52

Thankfifi lives next door to my sisters and I do believe she does walk the dog like that, they live adjacent to a fabulous park so it's not that unrealistic. The dog is fabulous . To rub salt in the wound she is also a lovely person. Sigh.
