Hi hoping for some advice please, does anyone have any recommendations of style blogs, don't want anything too high fashion, just general every day wear, in need of some inspiration.

Thanks :)

Ooh I feel a purchase coming on

lurkingaround · 31/12/2013 22:42

God I hate that Whistles website. Clothes, yes. Site, shite.

lurkingaround · 31/12/2013 22:45

Grin I had that smell in my old house MrsC. Drove me demented. I narrowed it down to behind a wall and there was nowt I could do til the mouse eventually rotted away. Making your night, aren't I??!

eshermummy · 31/12/2013 22:48

Alaska - there was a Zara one in the sale with zip that could probably be undone a bit to create slit:

too zippy for work?

www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/skirts/sheath-skirt-with-zips-c436473p1505509.html

I would but I have wrong waist to hip ratio for pencil skirts

AlaskaNebraska · 31/12/2013 22:49

maybe a teeny bit zippy
DO love a xara skirt though - thank you

eshermummy · 31/12/2013 22:58

oops sorry, been away so long I've forgiotten about how to do links on MN:

had to see if I could still do it

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2013 23:00

Love that, but cba with Zara.

AlaskaNebraska · 31/12/2013 23:01

why

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2013 23:03

Nothing fits, stuff falls apart & Brum one is like a jumble sale.

AlaskaNebraska · 31/12/2013 23:04

ah order online

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2013 23:05

Even worse! :)

MrsCampbellBlack · 01/01/2014 09:10

You'll be glad to know - dead mouse located under sofa. Pesky cats!

MissBeehiving · 01/01/2014 09:56

I wondered if you'd found it MrsCB - our maimed rodents usually choose the tumble drier to expire under Grin

MrsCampbellBlack · 01/01/2014 10:18

Oh that's lovely - because the heat from the drier would really heighten the smell!

DH slightly offended as I thought the smell was him Blush

To be fair, he doesn't generally smell like rotting mouse.

AmberNectarine · 01/01/2014 10:32

I work in v corporate environment but hardly ever client face so very rarely have to do the full LKB get up, which is nice, hence my slightly more relaxed style of dress. I am also probably the most 'off the wall' dresser in my dept but I think if I wore a black suit and a coloured top everyday I might just kill myself!

I've been a bit shite lately but there will be some more disabled loo action coming next week. I'm surprised no one has started an AIBU about my misuse of those facilities, frankly.

lurkingaround · 01/01/2014 11:07

Good news re mouse MrsC. A happy new year in your house so, with no mouse smell. Although maybe not so happy for the shamed cat.

Have spent too much time flapping away the kids and reading recipe rifle this morn. I now have a bit of a crush on her easy writing style.

Like the zippy zara skirt. If zippy zara skirts fitted my thighs.....

MrsCampbellBlack · 01/01/2014 11:39

Lurking - you are doing vital nutritional research into your children's weekly menu plan surely?

lurkingaround · 01/01/2014 12:06

Absolutely MrsC! WinkGrin

MissBeehiving · 01/01/2014 13:06

Oh, good Amber I need some disabled loo action Grin

I didn't know that you'd gone back to work MrsCB - hope it's going well Smile What do you wear then?

sansucre · 01/01/2014 13:37

I work quite close by to WIT and TheFrugality so often spot them out and about.
WIT is actually not as tall as I thought she'd be, I'd say about 5'2 in flats. Was surprised to learn she takes a shoe size 40 though! (I'm 5'5 and a size 37 shoe!)

As for blogs, love Amber's, WIT, TheFrugality, Fash&Chips and ManRepeller.

Cookies and Candies occasionally has some good stuff too. Her outfits are all very similar but she's an investment dresser so often posts some good things that whet the appetite. Ditto Le Catch.

Style Guile I just don't get, it's too safe and prissy for my tastes. (I also don't think she's particularly stylish.) Ditto SusieSoSo and Does my Bum Look 40. The latter is mostly variations on the same thing and a completely different body shape to me so not much use.

I also follow AtlanticPacific mostly because her outfits amuse me on many levels. I was also shocked to learn how young Blair is, I thought she was a good 10 years older!

I find Vogue's 'What I'm Wearing Today' series quite inspirational too.

And another vote for Recipe Rifle too, it's been one of my favourite non-fashion blogs for a quite a while.

CointreauVersial · 01/01/2014 14:25

MrsCB, you so should continue blogging. There is such a gap for working wardrobe blogs, which is why I like Amber's. I spend 5 days a week in business wear (not suit-smart, though) and always need inspiration. There are only so many skinnies-and-little-jackets blogs I can cope with.

Just thought of another one - My Midlife Fashion. Nice clothes, again, very much a "uniform", and a bit of a verbal diarrhoea writing style, but lots of inspiration.
