WWW's All New Ten Year Younger Plan WEEK ONE

WideWebWitch · 23/07/2006 11:09

Right, is anyone up for joining me in a 6 week ten week younger plan? The rules:

Use sunscreen at all times
Do some exercise during the week, even if it's only walking
Cut down on or give up alcohol (I'm going to do another 6 weeks without it)
eat healthily, lots of fruit and veg
Try to get to bed by 10.30pm
Take make up off every night
Drink lots of water
Post here about how you're feeling

Starting tomorrow, so week one is week commencing 24 July 06. Who's in?

OP posts:
swedishmum · 26/07/2006 09:26

No alcohol which is great for me. No exercise apart from walking - still recovering from twisted knee during Singstar 80s experience with the kids.
Small steps will make me stick at it - lots of water and sunscreen but unfortunately ended up in Pizza Express as last day of term.

sunscreen, water, taking makeup off and cutting out alcohol/down coffee all going well

The heat has really put me off exercising so far.
And this morning I've made white organic bread and eaten two doorsteps of it with organic butter and marmite

Must try harder

arfishymeau · 26/07/2006 15:21

Earlybird - you were right. It was too much too soon. Have just got back from an accidental night out at the pub for the first time in about a year.

Several glasses of wine later I feel that the wheatgrass shot, nuts, salad and wholemeal roll have been just a little wasted.

Tomorrow I think I'll take it more gently. Am clearly not ready for the gwynnie lifestyle.

Earlybird · 26/07/2006 16:50

Arfy - ah well, glad to know you're human! Did you have fun?

I'm doing OK today, but still need to increase water intake. Also, feeling like a sweaty blob (attractive image isn't it - trust me, reality isn't much different), but can't motivate myself toward any sort of exercise in this heat. Taking dd and a friend swimming later, and have vague notions of doing some laps in the pool but don't yet know if that's realistic - depends on how much supervision they require. TBH, the idea of exposing myself to the world in a swimming cossie fills me with dread!

WideWebWitch · 26/07/2006 20:25

Arfy, you do make me laugh! "Raising the bar!" ha ha, my boss says that! Wheatgrass shots though, I'm most impressed, albeit followed by an accidental night out.
mummydear, at least you went to bed at an ok time
mummypig, well done but god you must be knackered, go to bed early tonight!
earlybird, that sounds good.
noddyholder, that's a good day, 2 ice lollies excusable in this heat
blackduck, oh well, enjoy and start again tomorrow.
cheesyfeet, well done on no wine and good food
swedishmum, well done on no wine too and at Pizza Express
sobernow, also well done on no wine but blimey at make up - so do you just put more on on top in the morning? I used to do that.
winnie, the butter sounds lovely, I love butter but can't have it and fluffy white bread in the house or I'd eat nothing else but well done on everythign else
earlybird, I wish I could swim but even if I could, ikwym about the costume, however, as my ex husband helpfully pointed out to me "YOU'RE A MIDDLE AGED WOMAN, NO-ONE IS LOOKING AT YOU!!!"

SO where are the rest of you, hey, hey? Given up already?

So, today:
2 pieces toast and marmite
large punnet of cherries
a small punnet of raspberries
puy lentil, thyme, feta and proscuitto salad
hazelnut bar (119 cals)
small pack of raisins
2 apples
lentil soup
some prawns
2 slices of proscuitto (65 cals)
an Innocent smoothie

And my make up's off although I haven't done any exercise today. I've had at least 2 litres of water though. Keep meaning to take milk thistle and vit c tablets too, I've got some somewhere.

OP posts:
winnie · 26/07/2006 20:47

www, there is still homemade bread left so I haven't been too bad

However, you have reminded me that I have zinc and multi vit tablets that I should take.

Have drunk loads of water, walked in the heat to the park with ds and threw a frisbie around does that count as exercise? Feel like a beached whale in this weather and certain lack energy and motivation to enjoy this weather one would think that is incentive enough! I want to go swimming. Maybe I will do that this week.

(Forgot sunscreen )

Am taking the makeup off and pampering the feet too. Have had only one cup of coffee today but after run in with dd and x hinting he is out with someone tonight have had glass of white wine!

Have eaten lots of fruit and veg though.

mrsbang · 26/07/2006 22:31

I've not given up just yet, altho only doing three weeks.

No sunscreen today, hardly been out.
No exercise, altho did run round at Beavers tonight.
No alcohol.
Toast for breakfast, Ryvita + tuna for lunch, and ahem not a healthy tea, but ate lots of raspberries, plums and grapes.
Am aiming to get to bed by 10.30pm. (ISH)
Not wearing make-up.
Have drunk lots of water.

Feeling hot n sticky still.

Caligula · 26/07/2006 22:41

Yesterday I ate rye bread, salmon and chicken with salad.

No booze or sunscreen. Went to bed at 10PM.

Today I had no sunscreen (but was inside most of time) no exercise and had a cheese and onion pastry in the shape of a sausage roll for lunch. Slightly redeemed myself by havign smoked salmon on ryvitas plus loads of cherries for dinner and have drunk loads of water.

Will try and get to bed very very soon.

arfishymeau · 27/07/2006 01:44

I have had 5 hours sleep and am slightly dehydrated.

I have valiantly resisted a fry up and had a banana smoothie with antioxidant boost for breakfast. Couldn't face another wheatgrass. Just too, well, grassy for me this morning.

I've put on sunscreen, eye lotion and moisturiser and am now off on a pilgrimage to get some sacred imported PG Pyramid bags from the British shop and a toning ball and skipping rope for penance later.

Caligula · 27/07/2006 07:44

Meant to say no booze last night.

Blackduck · 27/07/2006 08:20

no good on booze front again (I still blame dp!)
Have just had a banana for breakfast and am doing pretty well foodwise thou'....

mummydear · 27/07/2006 08:58

Am having trouble with getting to bed early , must try harder. A number of excuses, firstly its too hot, secondly I end up watching Big Brother and then, (please forgive me), Love Island !!!

Please forgive me I have a sad life

Exercise - walked round the LOndon Car Show yesterday with my two boys.

Drinking lots of water.

iota · 27/07/2006 09:21

so far:

sunscreen - tick
exercise - not enough
no alcohol - tick
healthy eating - not too bad - no extraneous stuff like crips or choc
bed by 10.30 - yes, but then reading in bed - oops
make-up - tick
water - tick

seem to have lost a couple of pounds - probably need new scales LOL

tortoiseshell · 27/07/2006 09:37

not given up, but couldn't post last night as was having a curry with some friends....it had been arranged for a long time, so wasn't a total failure on my part. Also had a gin and tonic, but no wine. Am succeeding MASSIVELY on the water - drinking 2litres+ each day - I'm keeping a 2 litre jug in the fridge and drinking more than that each day. Had a longish walk yesterday, will try to swim this evening. Never wear makeup so no need to take it off! Sunscreen - wore some on Tuesday when was in the sun, otherwise am staying in the shade.

iota · 27/07/2006 09:41

and even if I'm not going to bed early enough, I'm sleeping in in the am (SAHM with kids on holiday )

majorityofone · 27/07/2006 10:22

Dreadful dreadful end to the day thanks to cousin from Oz turning up with friend, bbq and way way too much wine! Horrid headache today but was lovely evening. Did take make up off and going to try harder today.

CheesyFeet · 27/07/2006 11:23

DH did tea last night... potato wedges, breaded mushrooms & onion rings with garlic mayo! Was very tasty but baaaaaaad. No lean protein or vitamins in sight! It was followed by fresh melon though (as if that makes a difference!). The rest of the day wasn't too bad though, I was on a course at work which had lunch thrown in, but I was good and stuck to ham sandwiches and fruit. Was in bed by 10.30 but it was far too hot to sleep despite the rain. Plenty of water, no make up, still no exercise other than vigorous ironing in front of Property Ladder.

arfishymeau · 27/07/2006 12:51

Despite my over-whelming need for junk food I had my smoothie, a low-fat turkey and cranberry on turkish bread, a cleansing freshly pressed watermelon and orange juice with slimming boost, a teeny mushroom risotto and a WW apple pudding.

As penance for my night of excess I went for an evil chinese deep tissue massage. It only brought tears to my eyes twice but I lost count of the number of screams I had to muffle.

Have drunk gallons of water.

I also bought my toning ball, which I duly inflated and is now sitting in the corner. I will do something energetic with it tomorrow. Tonight is just too hard.

Did sunscreen, moisturiser, exfoliator and eye cream. Am off to bed now, at 9.50. Without a high-brow book. Probably something with pictures in.

winnie · 27/07/2006 14:22

is eating 8 falafel really bad?
(did eat loads of salad too)

winnie · 27/07/2006 16:51

WideWebWitch · 27/07/2006 20:56

(Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that lol)
