WideWebWitch · 23/07/2006 11:09

Right, is anyone up for joining me in a 6 week ten week younger plan? The rules:

Use sunscreen at all times
Do some exercise during the week, even if it's only walking
Cut down on or give up alcohol (I'm going to do another 6 weeks without it)
eat healthily, lots of fruit and veg
Try to get to bed by 10.30pm
Take make up off every night
Drink lots of water
Post here about how you're feeling

Starting tomorrow, so week one is week commencing 24 July 06. Who's in?

OP posts:
Caribbeanqueen · 24/07/2006 21:35

Good day here food and drink wise, no exercise though. Will aim to go to bed at 11 (can't do any earlier, sorry) and read for a bit.

Have to admit that evenings are a nightmare, I feel some sort of magnetic force drawing me to the fridge and I feel almost twitchy that I am not nibbling away at something naughty.

mrsbang · 24/07/2006 21:40

Better late than never, can I do three weeks with you?

No sunscreen today, but I try to hibernate during the really hot weather lol.
No exercise, been a little offside (was due to go swimming with the boys)
No alcohol.
Relied on sandwiches/toast today, but ate lots of raspberries and cherries, oh, and a banana.
Am aiming to get to bed by 10.30pm
Not wearing make-up
Have drunk lots of water

Not feeling too good today, am pretty sure it's just a 24 hour thing tho, so here's to tomorrow.

Cappucino · 24/07/2006 21:51

EVERYONE BE WARNED

if you don't go to bed early you will be too tired and agree when your dh suggests getting a chinese

then you will feel bloated and full of salt and fat and have to go have a lie down

I just had to do it so that I could stop you all making the same mistake

Caligula · 24/07/2006 21:53

No sunscreen, but stayed in shade
3 litres of water
rye bread and tuna for lunch But only bit of chicken and cherries for dinner (couldn't be arsed to cook)
No exercise unless clothes shopping counts
No booze
No make up

Off to bed now!
Feeling fat. It's all that clothes shopping

tortoiseshell · 24/07/2006 22:21

ok, here's me - no sunscreen, but stayed in shade all day, as I burn even with factor 50 on!
Exercise - tried to go swimming, but couldn't as queue for pool too long - will try and go tomorrow morning. Otherwise, running round after kids all day.
Food - 2.5 slices wholemeal bread with smoked salmon. 1 sesame seedryvita with some homecooked ham. An oat and raisin homemade cookie. Some of dd's mini smarties but only a few...still have to tea (so am not holding out hope for the 10.30 bedtime, but ds2 has only just gone to bed) - will either have pasta in tomato sauce or chicken with steamed veggies. Also have nibbled ds1's fishfinger. Water - have drunk 1.5l water, and about to have another glass. 2 cans diet coke, and 1 500ml bottle . Several cups of tea. Have a good night everyone!

tortoiseshell · 24/07/2006 22:21

oh, no make up so none to take off!

swedishmum · 24/07/2006 23:03

Loads of water - am now drinking very watered down sugar free cranberry juice instead of my ususal few glasses of wine. No energy to exercise but I did chase dd3 round Bluewater and Ikea. Still up because dd2 is finishing her photo montage of tonight's disco to take in tomorrow. Can't wait to sleep tonight - dh has gone away. Last night his snoring kept me awake till 4.30am. Alarm went off at 6.15.

Caribbeanqueen · 24/07/2006 23:06

Cappucino, thanks for sacrificing yourself to give us all that warning

arfishymeau · 25/07/2006 00:24

Went to bed at 10pm after doing my microdermabrasion on my face. Woke up with baby soft skin feeling very refreshed.

Have had porridge with skimmed milk for breakfast.

Am going to the gym later. Had a horrible time trying to get clothes over my arse this morning. Am also buying the toning ball. I will not go back to the UK looking like this. They'll harpoon me in arrivals.

CheesyFeet · 25/07/2006 09:20

Day one was reasonably successful - no sunscreen but wasn't outside much, no exercise but back still playing up, no wine [boo hiss], LOADS of fruit and veg, some raisins and mixed seeds for munchies, tuna pasta for lunch and mushroom pasta for tea. Was in bed by 11pm but couldn't sleep.

I'm really struggling with caffeine withdrawal... I am very headachy but I've been here before and I know it will pass in a couple of days. I'm still having a couple of coffees a day but this is well down on the 4 coffees and 4 diet cokes that I usually have.

This is going to be so good for me, I have IBS and everything I'm doing should help. Should be enough I suppose, but I do need a kick up the arse at times!

MummyPig · 25/07/2006 10:30

Hi, can I join in? Was hoping to lose some weight for a couple of summer weddings, then had exams and dp's family staying, so piled on the weight again due to comfort eating. Need to get back on track. Already do the no alcohol thing but tend to vary on all the others. Going to bed early is a real problem as it's often the only time I get to myself. But off to put my sunscreen on and drink a glass of water right now

MissyCocker · 25/07/2006 14:47

I know I'm probably being quite dim, but can someone explain why this is causing headaches, and maybe why I feel a bit tired and wobbly?

womblingalong · 25/07/2006 14:49

Not Bad here for Day 1.

No proper exercise, but lots of walking around town with DD.

Food ok, but could do better:

Breakfast: Rice Krispies and milk half an apple, tea

Lunch: 1 slice cheese on wholemeal toast and ham and watercress sandwich. Water

Cherries & Orange Juice

Dinner: Cottage Pie (bad) with broad beans and peas from the garden (good)

Bed at 10, sunscreen everyday, no alcohol, took makeup off!

Need to try harder I think!

Anyone read/tried that french women don't get fat book? What was it like?

SminkoPinko · 25/07/2006 18:18

Missycocker- are you eating enough? Drinking enough water? Or have you cut out caffiene? Or been in the sun a lot? Maybe visit the docs if none of the above. This kind of "well-being" plan shouldn't be causing headaches. Hope you feel better soon.

CarribeanQueen- I so know that evening overeating thing!

I did end up over eating yesterday as I suspected I would! Partner is too good at cooking and has an extremely warped idea of what constitutes a normal portion size- we could have fed about 10 people on what he cooked yesterday, I reckon. On the more virtuous side, I got to bed just after 10.30 and went for a run first thing this morning. And today has been a sunscreened up, fairly healthy day so far. Probably need to drink some more water soon.

Sounds like everyone's made a really good start pretty much. V impressed at your lunchtime lentil salad www. Agree with md that a small amount of oil wouldn't do any harm though! Probably beneficial, in fact.

majorityofone · 25/07/2006 20:04

Not too bad a day; lots of water which isn't too hard in this weather. There was a bar of chocolate though.... but it was nice.

Did get to bed by 10.30 last night and planning to do the same tonight and no wine is on the agenda. No exercise as yet but did do some very good shopping at Cribbs. Early days yet but am starting to think there might be light at the end of the tunnel.

mrsbang · 25/07/2006 20:34

No sunscreen today, not been out.
Been swimming.
No alcohol.
Toast for breakfast, Ryvita for lunch and chicken dippers n oven chips for tea. , but ate lots of raspberries and plums and the last of the cherries. DH bought me a (small) pack of revels, and it would have been rude to refuse........
Am aiming to get to bed by 10.30pm.
Not wearing make-up.
Have drunk lots of water.

Feeling hot n sticky.

WideWebWitch · 25/07/2006 21:28

Fking hell, I've just walked 2.1 miles and I'M SO UNFIT! I was puffing and blowing like a shire horse and what I thought would be a pleasant stroll was just bloody hard work. Still I did it! So, I've eaten

2 pieces wholemeal toast, olive spread, marmite
lots of red grapes
2 apples
a small punnet of raspberries
lentil, feta and thyme salad with lemon juice, it was gorgeous and kept me full most of the afternoon
a hazelnut and raisin bar (119 cals)
small pack of raisins
125h smoked trout
a handful of prawns
and about to have half a PE Margherita pizza(300 cals) and some roasted veg
No wine
make up off already in the cold shower I had after my walk
won't be in bed by 10.30 but by 11
Have drunk at least 2 litres water today
used sunscreen

I am an EXAMPLE TO YOU ALL, I tell you!

Well done everyone.

I have read FWDGF and it's same old same old and boils down to eat less, exercise more, which we all know anyway. I bought it because it had an enticing cover, all shiny and Champagne coloured!

mummydear · 25/07/2006 22:36

OMG its 10.35pm and Im not in bed a, plus I had two mini sausage rolls today as we had a picnic !!

Please forgive me.

Otherwise have been very good.

Off to bed now !!

MummyPig · 26/07/2006 01:56

Doing my update now as I don't think I'll be around on mumsnet much tomorrow

Used sunscreen

Walked to and from train station with boys (and had to deal with huge tantrum from 4yo ds1 on the way back home), took ds2 swimming but that wasn't much exercise for me!

No alcohol

Healthy breakfast but missed lunch due to working right up to the moment I had to fetch kids from childminder. I know that's not terribly healthy, and I snacked in the afternoon to make up for it. But ate a very small piece of pizza plus loads of tuna salad for dinner, so pleased with that. And didn't snack as much in evening as usual, but mainly because I fell asleep with the boys!

Went to bed before 10.30 pm because I fell asleep at about 8.30, but then awake from 11.30pm to now. So that's not terribly healthy, but I did need to get stuff done for tomorrow (preparing packed lunches, hanging out washing so ds2 has some dry shorts for tomorrow, etc.)

Will cleanse my face properly before going to bed, and drink more water. I think I drank a fair amount but then it was terribly hot so I could have done with more, especially during trip back from train station.

I think the stress of today, mostly the tantrum episode, has added a few years to my 'real age' but I shall continue with the plan and hope I end up less stressed in a few weeks.

Earlybird · 26/07/2006 02:08

Ok, before you say anything....I'm in America and it's 8 at night here - so not the ungodly hour that will appear onscreen when this post registers.

Doing well on some things, poorly on others. No alcohol consumed, not wearing much makeup and taking off what little I do wear at night, going to bed around 11 (early for me). Pitiful amounts of exercise because of the heat, and the fact that everything is so far away here that a car must be used whenever I go out. Also not doing very well on the eating - whole wheat toast with peanut butter (protein) for breakfast, fat free yoghurt mid morning snack, box of raisins, HUGE late lunch of BBQ Pork but will not eat again today. Had a few big glasses of water today, which is not nearly enough, but is much better than usual for me.

So, not terrible, not great. Much room for improvement.

arfishymeau · 26/07/2006 03:19

Ahem. Listen up. I'm raising the bar.....

I had a wheatgrass shot for breakfast.

There are now so many nutrients in my body that I'll probably have to have a glass of wine to stop me going into toxic shock.

Yesterday stuck to the plan, full sunscreen, long walk with supermarket shopping, lamb skewers and homemade salsa for dinner (super healthy WW recipe). Bed for 10.30 with eye cream and night moisturiser and hi-brow book on the ethics of what we eat. No wine (sobs).

Today am doing a gwynnie. Exfoliated with my lovely clarins stuff in the shower, applied eye cream, sunscreen, moisturiser and hair mask. Had my wheatgrass shot, handful of nuts and seeds and an apple mid-morning.

I have a salad and wholemeal roll packed for lunch. Dinner will either be an organic pumpkin soup or roasted veg. Am off to drink water.

Will have to stop doing gwynnie soon or will just snap and drink a bottle of Chablis in a wild-eyed frenzy when I get home from work.

Earlybird · 26/07/2006 04:30

Arfie - that's too good, you'll never be able to keep it up!

noddyholder · 26/07/2006 07:55

Just reporting in as I am so busy atm.Wore sunscreen and went to bed 10.30ish both nights Lots of water and had a tuna salad when we went out for lunch and I swam in the sea and did some walking. No alcohol so far but did have 2 plain orange ice lollies

Blackduck · 26/07/2006 08:24

Okay,
keep forgetting the sunscreen and not drinking enough water....
Doing okay eating and exercise-wise, but failing miserably on the alcohol front (I blame dp...)

CheesyFeet · 26/07/2006 09:23

Morning all
Yesterday's progress...
No sunscreen but indoors most of the day at work. Tis pissing down here this morning so probably not needed today anyway!
Exercise still a problem. Will have to work on that at the weekend I think, although my back is sore.
No wine!!! Second night running

LOADS of fruit and veg. Will shortly turn into a nectarine.
Was in bed by 9.30 and asleep by 10 - still slept through the alarm this morning though!
No make up worn, but cleansed & did a face pack last night.
Loads of water. Continually peeing - flushing out those toxins hopefully!
