Quick question about tights. I have a nice darkish green dress. Not sure what colour tights to wear with it. Was going to pair it with knitted cardi and ankle boots.

charitygirl · 04/11/2013 06:35

I am finding that brown, purple, mustard, dark green, and teal are all good tight coloursv- wd probs do brown or purple with a green dress.

QueenofWhatever · 04/11/2013 09:34

pottedplant loungewear wise, I'd recommend the Uniqlo lounge bottoms that I bought. I'm an 8/10 as well, but 5' 8" so they are a teeny bit short on me, but would work for you. Lovely soft and toasty warm, they're a lightish coffee colour.

I spent too much time on eBay over the weekend and bought a summery White Stuff dress which I saw and fell in love with. I then also bought a pair of Jaeger brown herringbone trousers. Neither were on my to buy list, but I loved both of them. I've always been a fussy buyer, but since having my colours done and especially the style day, I'm finding it even harder to find things that are right.

The flip side is that pretty much everything I buy is worn a lot. I'm also getting better at ebaying things more quickly; yesterday I listed this Brora teal green cord skirt and blue Woolovers jumper. Both good colours and quality, but I knew pretty much straight away that they weren't right for me, and so wouldn't get worn much. I'm surprised at how uncompromising I've become, but it saves a lot of wardrobe angst!

QueenofWhatever · 04/11/2013 09:37

charitygirl I really like that tartan Topshop shirt. I'm having a bit of a tartan crush too. Can't really justify £30 on a shirt at the moment. I've got a couple of job interviews coming up though, so things might improve...

Hopefully · 04/11/2013 11:05

Charity I love the tube skirt! I need to go and pick up my leggings from the shop this week, hope they fit.

Who else was looking for autumn maternity wear? I have just ordered these H&M jeggings in khaki and petrol.

DipMeInChocolate · 04/11/2013 12:56

Currently wearing this mustard jumper its so comfy. Been to Sainsburys today as the 25% off ends today. Picked up some brown cords and dark olive jeans, a patterned teal top and (this sounds awful but is nice honest) a bright green knitted peplum top that will be smart enough for work and casual enough for at home too.

charitygirl · 04/11/2013 14:12

You'll get a lot of wear out of those jeggings hopefully. So long as they're not the kind of under-bump trews that spend the whole day trying desperately to migrate to your ankles.

CuriosityCola · 04/11/2013 19:03

Thanks charity. Must be brave and venture into coloured tights territory. Eeek!

Can't remember who was asking, but I had a browse in New Look. Loads of fab autumn colour dresses etc. I find their lighting bad though, so would recommend buying and checking colours outside.

Hopefully · 04/11/2013 19:36

Charity they are the lovely over bump sort! proper armpit warmers. I have one under bump pair and they are already irritating.

QueenofWhatever · 05/11/2013 09:16

'Proper armpit warmers' Grin

charitygirl · 05/11/2013 11:32

Love an over-bump trouser! Non Preg equiv is high waisted jeans - can feel a bit chastity belt, but I like the snugness.

Agree New Look has lots of good things in - though beware of the dreaded faux-amie burgundy shakes fist

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 05/11/2013 12:43

Love the colour of those jeans charities

Any suggestions for a scarf to go with a red jacket for a possible soft autumn?

charitygirl · 05/11/2013 14:08

I am wearing this scarf with a red dress today (it's definitely an orange-red - HoC call it 'geranium'. obviously autumns should steer clear of blue-reds, and mustard wouldn't look good with blue-red) lots of us on this board have it - it's a bargain!

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 05/11/2013 14:30

That's lovely. It's allegedly 'burgundy' though? Colours are stupid lol

Still trying to work out what red the coat I've ordered is.It's called 'raspberry' but seems a brighter orange red.

Although, there's a chance I may not be an autumn anyway due to my skin being white white, but I can carry off flaming copper and deeper red and chocolate brown hair lmao

I'll stick with Autumn and play,I think!

charitygirl · 05/11/2013 15:37

Oh no is it showing the burgundy version? I've got the mustard one - maybe it's sold out. The teal one would also be awesome for autumns.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 05/11/2013 15:40

No,I just missed it LOL it's very pretty

GeorginaWorsley · 05/11/2013 16:42

Am awaiting burgundy scarf.
Have the mustard one and I like but seems a bit 'marmite' to others!

evelynj · 05/11/2013 21:53

There are some lovely mustard Fine knit patterned tights in h&m I saw today. not on their website though. Their vests do seem really good too. I did buy a red Christmas jumper with White snowflakes on it :)))

charitygirl · 05/11/2013 22:02

Yes, those HM mustard tights look good.

My outfit got tons of compliments today so thought I'd share

This bargin dress but in an orange-red which is not on website, bah
tablet.hm.com/gb/product/15379#article=15379-A

With mustard tights, mustard ebay scarf (above), and my cropped bright navy jacket which seems to work with my swatches even though it shouldn't. Think there is a bit of green in it.

Also my lovely new boots (feel like I'm always buying things but must say that at least half of the things I've posted about have been returned!)

www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,17/1458751605

These really are my dream knee boots so even though they're not super trendy right now I know I'll wear them for years. The colour is almost khaki/olive - v unusual and great with our palette.

charitygirl · 05/11/2013 22:03

Why do my Office links never work. Well if anyone's interested they're the Office Action boots in Chocolate Oiled Suede.

charitygirl · 05/11/2013 23:02

Oh and here's my Xmas party dress this year:

www.theoutnet.com/product/368348

In my dreams, anyway.

onlysettleforbutterflies · 06/11/2013 08:45

Nice outfit Charitygirl and I love 'your' xmas party dress!

Has anyone seen any dark brown work shoes? I am desperate and currently wearing a very battered pair but can't chuck them as I can't find anything to replace them with.

charitygirl · 06/11/2013 08:49

Work shoes to me mean (stylish) brogues and Office have a nice version in three shades of brown inc a dark one - very nice.

But you may mean court shoes of course, in which case, you're right, you don't often see them in brown.

onlysettleforbutterflies · 06/11/2013 11:43

thanks i do mean court shoes really, to go with pencil skirts and dresses. Any other suggestions?

Snowlike · 06/11/2013 14:53

I'd go for navy courts, I think brown courts are a bit frumpy and casual.
