Mind you something like this might work - patent or snakeskin look smarter.

onlysettleforbutterflies · 06/11/2013 16:30

They are perfect thanks snowlike! I have navy but don't think they go very well with some of my outfits.

[Grin] I have been looking for shoes this colour for sooo long!

charitygirl · 06/11/2013 17:13

Clever Snow!

Ladies, you may remember me from the last thread. My mum always told me I was an Autumn yet I thought I looked okay in charcoal grey and black. At your urging I had my HoC analysis today and it turns out I am a WINTER! Total surprise and going to require a total wardrobe overhaul. I am really shocked and a little emotional. But it was totally obvious when she was draping me with the colours - the best colours made me look so so much better. I am so glad I went.

So thank you and ... goodbye... am going over to join the Winters thread now...

schmalex · 06/11/2013 18:07

hopefully - it was me that was looking for autumn maternity stuff! I'm so glad someone else is pregnant, otherwise I would be reading this thread and feeling very depressed. I love those petrol leggings, although I'm moving house in a few days so I need to stop ordering things!

I have my eye on this dress, as I've got a couple of parties to go to and NOTHING to wear. Think it could look good with some chunky gold jewellery.

I also found a nice geranium red jersey day dress in the Ebay Mamas & Papas store. Haven't received it yet though.

Long shot, but has anyone seen any non-black maternity tights?

GeorginaWorsley · 06/11/2013 18:36

Burgundy scarf from eBay arrived today and is wonderful!
More brick than burgundy and with teal ,navy and yellow feathers.

charitygirl · 06/11/2013 20:01

Very pleased for you corestrength! Bin those sludgy drab autumn tones Wink and step into your future of jewels, ices, and monochrome!

charitygirl · 06/11/2013 20:02

I thought that scarf looked 'bricky' Georgina! Might have to get one myself in that case.

FizzyFeet · 06/11/2013 20:07

Hello fellow Autumns!

I was recently diagnosed as a blue autumn and have been merrily stocking up on teal, peacock and olive.

I have a question for you straight away - Baukjen have a winter orange jersey dress with 30% off. Have any of you seen it? Is it a good autumnal orange? My finger is hovering over the 'buy' button!

An attempt at a link: www.baukjen.com/uk/m/the-classic-wrap-dress-winter-orange.htm?viewall=true&_%24ja=tsid%3A53418&utm_source=Adestra&utm_medium=email&utm_content=The%20Classic%20Wrap%20Dress&utm_campaign=Resend%20of%20Older%20Seg%20-%20Jersey%20Dresses%20-%20Responsive#reviews

charitygirl · 06/11/2013 20:11

I think orange is a very safe colour for autumns - as in you can't go wrong with any shade. As a deep, rich autumn I steer clear of the pale oranges but that might not be an issue for blue oranges. Have at it, I say!

charitygirl · 06/11/2013 20:13

Blue autumns dur! Fab dress by the way.

FizzyFeet · 06/11/2013 20:18

Ooooh thanks charity girl! I do like a jersey dress especially as it means I don't have to think in the mornings

I have the same dress in fuchsia pink - bought before I had my colours done! All wrong now. Wonder if they'd let me swap it...

charitygirl · 06/11/2013 21:07

Me too - I have two jersey dresses, and a jersey skirt (purple, teal, orange red) and they're my work uniform!

Why not pop over to the winters thread and see if you can flog your fuchsia dress to one of them!

Hopefully · 06/11/2013 21:39

Evening!

Picked up my topshop tartan leggings today, but can't actually be bothered to try them on this evening. Will see how they are tomorrow.

Fizzy it certainly looks like an autumn orange from here - not light and bright enough to be Spring.

Schmalex that dress is lovely (although a very Winter navy), but could be helped with nice gold jewellery. I'm contemplating a kettlewell maxi for the festive season, think it will be stretchy enough for the bump.

charitygirl · 06/11/2013 21:42

Lol at not being bothered to try them on - that's some pregnancy tiredness right there!

Would you get the maxi in scarlet or mallard do you think?

Hopefully · 06/11/2013 21:45

Hell yes to pregnancy tiredness - I am about to go to bed and it's the latest night I've had for months!

I fancied the dress in scarlet, but a friend said it was scarily Christmassy, so maybe I should go mallard...

charitygirl · 06/11/2013 23:02

I think the scary Xmassyness could just be the ludicrously OTT styling, with the roaring fire and the radiator-sized necklace! I'd probably go scarlet.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 07/11/2013 00:20

I LOVE that dress in scarlet!Gorgeous.

I'm getting even more confused over my colouring.Went to try some new foundations today and estee lauder matched me to 1cn1 (cool neutral),MAC match me to nw (which, apparently for MAC actually means cool) and lancome say 'a more yellow base' (but is that to give more colour?)

And it's the skin tone that'll set my season. And I probably do look very 'cool' at times, but I can pull off copper and red hair.

I'm confused Sad

Scarletohello · 07/11/2013 01:02

I'm confused by people saying they can wear colours like navy or burgundy. When I was assessed as an autumn the basic rule was simply that you are either blue based or yellow based. So as an autumn you need colours with some yellow in them, so green, brown, turquoise etc. it's been a very helpful rule of thumb for me, navy isn't an autumn colour! ( IMO )

Can anyone enlighten me?

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 07/11/2013 01:44

I was wondering about that.I guess many go for navy purely as an alternative to black?I know I do just because I'm so pale,I wouldn't say it's a good colour on me though.

I have seen sites suggesting navy for autumns but the same amount say to avoid.

But then,in reality, most people can wear many different colours and not look dreadful,so 'seasons' is just about colours which make you look 'better' as far as I'm concerned, rather than being the only colours you can wear.

As for burgundy,I think it's one of those reds people just refer to as being, rather than actually being burgundy?

Scarletohello · 07/11/2013 01:58

I guess I'm pretty strict about my colours now and just feel
' wrong' in ones that aren't mine. I use brown as an alternative to black, works pretty well I find.

( but I do still wear pink in bed..!) :)

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 07/11/2013 02:04

I'm totally useless at this stuff.I'm likely a soft autumn but possibly not as possibly have cool skin (but that depends on hair colour and light/actual season.my eyes will intensify in either their green or brown with whatever colour)

I've just held several colours up around my face eg wine, light grey, black, white and a goldy beigey colour.None of them made much if any noticeable difference, except for black which enhanced my dark circles lol

Hmm

charitygirl · 07/11/2013 06:46

Scarlet - I'm pretty strict, def no burgundy (hence the sad returning of my TK Maxx jacket). Of course there is an autumn navy but its hard to find and so I think many posters do use cool navy as a less heinous black. I wouldn't. Also not everyone in this thread has been HOC-ed, so may be working from their own version of 'autumn'

Snowlike · 07/11/2013 07:12

I think I suit navy, despite being diagnosed as a vibrant autumn - I really don't suit beige - I look dead in it, I look bland and dull - yet it's a warm colour. I have my doubts about orange and mustard kills me - anything pale too....but I wear the colours I can see working for me like green - any shade and a very, very dark brown - very hard to find and red. Jeans will continue to be worn as a neutral and an essential. So I guess what I'm saying is that I still have an opinion on what suits me despite having had my colours done.
I often wonder if two consultants did your colours would they grade them in the same way, I think it's a tiny bit subjective.
