Would this count as an autumn colour?I'm thinking and hoping so!It says Brown but doesn't look brown on my screen, more of a reddy colour?

Would you say the garnet version of this is autumnal? I like it, but I am trying to be careful!

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 10/11/2013 14:44

Thought so! Zalando is great for colours.

Wading through hundreds of petrol bits at the mo,petrol is ok isn't it?

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 10/11/2013 14:47

Gorgeous colour catslave and I would guess so,although I'm not officially 'diagnosed' so can be well off lol

It looks a similar red to my wedding dress,so if I am indeed an autumn, then I would say it must be as it was a fantastic colour on me

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 10/11/2013 14:52

Yay! Thanks pottedplant

I'll buy loads of lovely coloured clothes then discover I'm something else knowing my luck LOL

charitygirl · 10/11/2013 17:29

I'd have to say, catslave, that that looks like a cool burgundy to me - so close to autumn, but just not. I know names are no real guides, but most jewel tones belong to the winter palette.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 10/11/2013 18:10

It seems to have a orangey red hint to me

charitygirl · 10/11/2013 18:14

Well, of course, different screens add to the impossibility of really being sure online!

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 10/11/2013 18:18

Yep.My screen isn't the best for colour lol Whatever colour that jumper is though it is a nice colour LOL

evelynj · 10/11/2013 23:19

Charity-thanks for the list of autumn friendly shops-that's great.

Jenimoo-haven't tried that dress on, just remembered that a top I like is a cheap thing from peacocks & has lasted for ages so thought I'd look at the site. Might be good with leggings. Apparently sainsburys leggings are really good-been recommended on other S&B threads, (though I've only really worn leggings when pregnant as I'm pear shape & plus size so not a great look on me). Anyway, they have some nice olive/khaki ones in sainsburys for £10.

Potted, I ended up finding some of the lipsticks on eBay- cheaper & lots of discontinued to be found, (all new). Also good for brown mascara but wish they did Diorshow in brown.

I must say that I think HoC lipsticks are really great & you really should get your colours 'done' by a consultant. I'd never have been able to self diagnose & am actually tempted to go again to another consultant to see if I get the same results

catslave · 10/11/2013 23:28

Thanks for opinions on the jumper! I think hope it is right as I bought it a couple of weeks ago before I was 'diagnosed', if that's the right word??

I'm paranoid that some clothes I think are okay are not, so am double checking. I held up some white loo roll to my face and that made me look worse than the jumper so I think I am ok :)

evelynj · 11/11/2013 00:06

Cat-I think the general idea is that if it 'goes' with all your other swatches then it's a good fit.

Good health to wear! :))

Spychic · 11/11/2013 09:39

What a great thread, I read it straight through and went back a second time to click on all the links!

I've not had my colors done professionally but I think I am a soft Autumn bleeding into spring or whatever the terminology is.

I am a SAHM, half my wardrobe is hand-me-down maternity that no longer fits, the other half is cheap crap in a mishmash of colors!

I live in Australia; any other Australian autumns here? If so, where do you order clothes from?? I love all these UK stores everyone keeps mentioning like uniqlo, h&m, matalan, but am thinking I wouldn't be able to return stuff easily and cheaply.... I hate shopping in real stores though and just don't have the time....

BTW I shared the concept with dh thinking he would tease me as I'm not a stylish person at all, and he's now sitting at the computer saying things like,"maybe I'm a warm spring... Ooh I like that color, maybe I should try that...". And I thought I knew the man!

catslave · 11/11/2013 12:19

Spychic - try ASOS. They have a massive selection and good shipping. My nieces in NZ use them loads. Apparently there are no good clothes in NZ unless you like nylon at JCrew prices...

ASmittenKitten · 11/11/2013 15:58

Help, please! Can you look at these colour charts and tell me which are autumns - I do get my purples and burgundies confused and I'm struggling with my my navy and marine blues :)

None of the chart on the left look autumn to me - all look like they come from my mum's summer swatches. Of the blues, the LH 2 of the second row look tealy/petrolly, and therefore autumn.

charitygirl · 11/11/2013 16:19

Should add that I'm working from the HoC definition of autumn of course...

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 11/11/2013 18:50

The second purple on the first pic is aubergine though, and definitely looks aubergine.Isn't that a recommended purple for autumns?

charitygirl · 11/11/2013 20:04

Funnily, Aubergine is not in the HoC swatch book for autumns (our only purple is 'royal'!) but you're right, I'd probably wear it, nd I'm sure Hopefully has given it the official nod of approval too!

ASmittenKitten · 11/11/2013 20:10

Ohh - it was the aubergine that I thought was a good colour too! Am awaiting Hopefully's wise words. And thanks charity - you pretty much confirmed my blue thoughts - though I really struggle with the difference between French Navy and Navy- my HOC booklet just calls it navy Confused

OP posts:
charitygirl · 11/11/2013 20:27

Yeah, we don't get many blues! And googling 'marine navy' which is the official name of our version, unsurprisingly doesn't bring up much about colours.

spychic - there is an Aus blog called InsideOut style by a colour and style consultant that you might find good. I'm not always convinced by her fashion choices, but she mentions lots of shops.

Spychic · 12/11/2013 01:48

Thanks catslave and charity ! Checking those both out now.

ASmittenKitten · 12/11/2013 13:01

Oh no! Have I killed the thread you should see me clear a room, end a party, empty public transport..............
