What kind of budget were you thinking of One, also what colour palette and style preferences do you have? I will have a look for you over the next few days....I think this style of dress would look good on you One because it'd emphasise that diddy waist and good boobs. Wearing a jacket/cardigan over it would help any hip self consciousness too. I like these styles of coats and Very has a good new Parka style in the Ferne cotton range.

Queen Ha ha at the idea of screaming Granny on the trampoline Smile. What would we do without them? RE the long torso, I would have thought the low on the hips belted style of skirt would look super elegant on you- that 60's lean look? There is a Balmain skirt on Hervia.com that is in that style. Also the new Midi styles (Victoria Beckham has some A-mazing ones for £££) with the low slung waist and side pockets- I'd put you in one of these. this dress if it was longer in the skirt would look great on you too. And imagine the bottom half of this dress as a skirt. Of course the other illusionary trick is to go Infants style high waist such as Oscar style.

Happy birthday Mig . My dd loved those sketch pads fashion angels they do a whole range....great birthday pressie idea for girls 6-12. So glad your little niece is pulling through. X
QueenC I knew you'd be the perfect hostess ! Great and lovely that your DH was so complimentary of your outfit.
McNally where are you going? Have you been this far north before if your from London you may get a nose bleed!
Anni don't you just love D Beckham and his pants.....gosh if you could rifle through his bins you could make a fortune on Ebay! that sounds a bit sick, sorry

And finally welcome Skyler Good Luck Charlie fan? do stay it's lovely here. I love your coat and the dress too. I'm interested about sizing as I have my eye on a dress Mig pinned. Are you on Pinterest?

Day 4 of my visitors and I'm flagging. It's hard work. I love cooking but feel sick of it and after 2 days I like my house back to normal. They're v nice and helpful, but you still feel you have to entertain. Away tomorrow for big family do, overnight, then friends for BBQ on Sunday.....does anyone else ever feel the need to get off the Mum railway?

God Dry that is frantic activity. Will that leave you any time for rummaging through David's bin? Wink If you see any of Victoria's discarded clothing range in there, I'll have it.

I bought Beckham pants for DD (probably TMI) and a raw cotton/linen Granddad top which loks great. It even comes with those thumb holes so he can gnaw on his sleeve like an Emo adolescent....

Mignon I really like those & Other Stories sandals. I've got to get in there soon and have a look at things.

Liberty gorgeous Me&Em skirt.

Anni that site looks good.

Dry doing well! I chuckled at your key word story the other day Grin.

I think I will replenish wardrobe this A/W. I've been more ruthless and thrown some stuff out, taken about six things to a swap agency. Only trouble is you get credits to buy stuff and I can't see anything I like. And a few things on eBay, but that's more hassle.

So I need
A coat - I love the one I have, but don't want to wear it all winter again. I don't want a bright one as did that last time. And am thinking about whether a new shape would be better. Ie thick shorter jacket type thing, easier in the car.

And the usual A/W ankle boots, skinnies and jumpers. But the coat is the biggy.

mig you're wasted as a nurse. You should be a stylist Smile.

dry I know what you mean about entertaining. It gets rather boring after a while. I love having my parents as they treat it as their 2nd home so I don't feel the need to entertain them as such. I seriously couldn't cope without them coming down once a month as it gives me a total break. The kids utterly adore them.

Am I the only one who doesn't find David beckham attractive? All those tattoos just really put me off...

That is good QueenC. I rely on the breaks we get from sending the dc to the gps. The littler one goes for the day, but the 8 year old happily stays a few nights.

Beckham not my type either. Don Draper in early series, yes, or Ryan Gosling (the shame! Grin).

mig
budget is definitely high street/sales for dresses and everyday jackets but could be pushed a bit higher for a winter coat as DP has said he'll help with the cost of that. I prefer blacks, purples, reds, generally a winter palette really. For the winter coat, I'd like a good wool content as I find it keeps me warmest, preferably flared over the hips with some kind of waist detailing, anything straight up and down hangs like a sack in the middle as my waist is ten inches smaller than my hips! Also, preferably single breasted as double breasted can look a bit matronly I find.Sorry if that sounds very picky btw Blush

QueenC my parents are exactly like that. When they visit I can be a child again and they take over. I love going back home for that very reason (and in future MNV meet ups perhaps)

Marsha Don Draper, bloody hell , Ryan Gosling in the Notebook, yum. Bit partial to Hugh Jackman. Eddie to look at but too boyish and angsty for me?D B has a great physique though......loved seeing him win the dads race at his sons sports day, the poor sod who came second.....why did he even try?!!!Grin

I should be so lucky as to have that job Queen. I can dream.....I'm not keen on the body art I admit but he's not too muscle bound, just looks healthy. The face? Meh...Prefer darker haired men. That's just my taste. Am trying to think who I like. Maybe a touch of Martin Shaw? Now, not then. I kid of like my DH- he does it for me still, more than anybody famous.

Marsha - how about the car coat shape? Very forties/fifties Hollywood in a boiled wool or Moufflon with that lovely shorter shape. They are quite boxy to the hip but look good with a pencil skirt.

Mig but did you ever see Martin Shaw in his "Professionals" days?! Shock

Report
mignonette · 02/08/2013 17:41

One I'm thinking belted for you maybe with that lovely little waistline but not a tie belt, more of a belt belt. You are absolutely right to avoid double breasted with decent size boobs. And a wool that is not too bulky either. Do you like Midnight Blue or Violet? I am going shopping tomorrow so will actually go and have a look. How tall are you approximately? They used to make wool coats in the 40's and 50's with belts and where the belt covered the coat, the fabric was thinner so as to make the waist look even narrower. Wish we had that option now.

Yes the 70's Martin Shaw Shock. Wouldn't know whether to take him to a poodle parlour or.......The modern version is much better. Before I met DH I used to work with a modern look a like. Made me feel quite silly Wink.

mig I'm five foot exactly. I love ANY shade of purple and also have a fondness for the darker end of the greens. I like blue, it wouldn't be my first choice but if I was going for blue it would be the deeper shades rather than the pale ones as the paler ones make me look very drained and washed out.

Damien Lewis is a sexy beast.
Colin Firth in breeches...such a cliche I know.
David Ginola....amazing hair and a good strong nose
McDreamy from Greys Anatomy, another great head of hair
James Cracknell.......when he held his baby when he won gold
Ditto Mark Cavendish at last years Tour de France, holding his baby
Denzel Washington in Muchado about nothing....on horse back in those leather breeches, riding along side Keanu Reeves who looked hot too but just couldn't do Shakespere
Alan Rickmans voice only

I love Amber's hot men board.

Yes I was thinking a dark Midnight blue, like a glowing navy One. I'll scribble down those colours and have a trawl for you. Are you looking for knee, thigh, hip length?

OOhhh Denzil Washington. And I love Samuel Jackson- the voice, the cool, the smarts. I love a smart man.

Ooh, Colin firth/mr darcy coming out of the lake

So, actually, I have more clothes than I thought having counted them up...
11 pairs of jeans. Seems slightly excessive even for someone who wears jeans every day.
4 pairs of shorts
1 pair chinos
3 pairs smart trousers
3 smart dresses
1 summer dress that really should be binned but it's the one that gets dh all amorous.
5 smart blouses/tops
1 pair winter shorts
10 cardigans
5 daytime blouses (all short sleeved)
3 vests
6 short sleeved tees
2 long sleeved tees
1 jumper

Is this a lot/not enough....?

i think it all depends how much you wear them, queenc. i have less of some but more of others. how do you cope with one jumper?! I have five or six I think. and I have three cardigans, as I would never wear ten. just depends, innit? work out your CPW to work you whether an item is working for you.

Report
QueenCadbury · 02/08/2013 20:05

I tend to wear cardis with long sleeved tees rather than jumpers so CPW is very low. I guess I'm just trying to work out exactly what, if anything I really need....
