Queen with difficulty, my real work is in a completely different field. Luckily nearly all press days take place very locally so I can squeeze them in before work or at lunchtime.

The statement jewellery at LA was fab, really beautiful and bold. I was seriously impressed. They had a display of Laura Ashley through the ages up which was really interesting. All the vintage dresses!

santamarianovella · 01/08/2013 12:11

amber will you attend london fashion week?

QueenCadbury · 01/08/2013 12:26

marsha never worn nail varnish? Not even on your toes?

Took the dc to the mall for more Gromit spotting. It nearly killed me walking past all the new stuff in shop windows again and not being able to go and browse. The only shops I got to go in we're Game and Disney Store!

I've realised that I need a 3/4 length or long sleeved slouchy white tee for autumn as I only have a fitted tee (no good on fat days) or a blouse. So that's definately going on the wish list.

Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine. I shall be wearing the navy monsoon dress tonight whilst entertaining the masses. At least everyone will be outside which is always easier than having a mess in the house to clear up!

MarshaBrady · 01/08/2013 12:34

I never wear sandals! Only ballet flats or yet to be bought slipper flats in summer.

Laura Ashley is definitely due for a refresh. It's all there, pretty etc, just needs a bit of a push.

QueenCadbury · 01/08/2013 13:01

What do you reckon to this dress? Too office-y? Or would it look fab with bright coloured heels?

shopafrolic · 01/08/2013 13:04

I don't think I'm very good at this parenting thing. The zoo solo with just DS was a bit shit. He loved it tho so I guess that's the main thing.
Marsha I bet your nails are lovely and clean and not the discoloured nail varnish stained yellow of my toes - nail varnish is mandatory nowadays - too grim without!
I had a Creme de la Mer pedicure at Urban Retreat once where they buff your toenails and leave them natural - I was terrified!

Carrie I hate to say it but I think the maxi is going to be too big for you......but definitely worth a try for the price.

Love this too but it doesn't exactly scream party.

QueenCadbury · 01/08/2013 13:07

Ooh, I didn't want black but I love this!

QueenCadbury · 01/08/2013 13:08

Did you all know that Simon Cowell is to be a dad?

QueenCadbury · 01/08/2013 13:10

shop you're not bad at all. But being at the zoo with a toddler isn't the most interesting thing in the world. I've been to ours so many times but the dc love it time and time again even though I want to die of boredom.

santamarianovella · 01/08/2013 13:11

lovely queen, not too officey but i think nothing special.

mig i love the skirt.very mara hoffman .

santamarianovella · 01/08/2013 13:14

queen ,again no!and maybe.
simon's baby mama is very similar to his ex fiancee.

shopafrolic · 01/08/2013 13:15

I love the blue QueenC - especially with green or pink heels - would be fab! What's the event?
Saw the news about Simon Cowell - classy with his close friend's ex - I thought he was gay TBH
Thanks for the reassurance re: zoo - sometimes when I do this mummy stuff I just want to die of boredom - he wouldn't get out of the buggy today so wouldn't really interact so I was just chauffeuring him around in 30 degree heat!

OP posts:
QueenCadbury · 01/08/2013 13:25

shop how can you forget what the event is? I've fantasy browsed for months! It's my 40th in November. I know it's still a bit early but I like to look and just see what's around. Will definately try on the blue lk bennett because if it fits like the davina it will be fab (if a little similar).

Being a mummy often is boring as they seem to thrive on repetition. Dd2 has a new book which she wants read to her all of the time. Yawn.

MarshaBrady · 01/08/2013 13:28

Shop don't feel bad at all. I'm often superfluous these days with my two (not that you are, but this is often the cause of my restlessness). Thank god for vogue to read eh. For me anyway, you all make te day so much better.

And the event thing just made me laugh so there you go Grin

And a lot of it is repetition, they love it.

shopafrolic · 01/08/2013 13:29

Oh bollocks - sorry QueenC - I thought it was something else . In that case - it needs to be a bit more fabulous.
That said - I wore this for my 40th - but it was a lunch.......

santa I don't know yet, I may be doing something with the BFC. Watch this space!

santamarianovella · 01/08/2013 13:31

shop we all go through this,it does not mean ur a bad or selfish mum,im sure you are wonderful. dd can happily spend 20 minutes staring at the pound waiting for the fish to appear again and again and again! beyond boring!

mignonette · 01/08/2013 13:36

Queen the Bauhaus floral will be great for A/W with that dark background/floral print.

Shop -You are just being honest. An awful lot of parenting is what I call Scut work-mindless, repetitive and frustrating. We are meant to throw our entire being into it aren't we and be so fulfiilled by it...You are not selfish. How on earth can reading the same book every day for 3 years yes, moi) to a child be anything other than boring? And anywhere in the heat with a little one and all the meltdown potential in both senses of the word is tiring...It will pass but finding loads of babysitters/relatives/friends to give you some space is the best suggestion I can offer. And keeping your brain busy with reading/writing/social media does help. It is that room of your own that every woman needs.

Fedupnagging · 01/08/2013 13:41

Hi shreddies I'm a lurker too with occasional posts and rubbish at links!

I sometimes get work clothes from Laura Ashley - in one of their many
Sales. I purchased a gorgeous pleated silk dress in purple from there a couple years ago and always get positive comments when I wear it.

Welcome back mig. You sound very creative and I love the sound of date ice cream - with a hint of chocolate maybe?!

I always wear varnish on my toes otherwise they look a bit yellowish and usually a nude on my fingers. However, have just had a manicure and pedicure - French on fingers with a hint of sparkle and gorgeous purple on my toes.
purple

mignonette · 01/08/2013 16:22

I gave in and wore toenail polish, an AVON colour-Lime- that DD gave me. It Looks a little as if I have dipped my toes into a puddle of Bile (sorry) as is more of a Key Lime shade. I probably won't bother re applying it. Grin

I have a lovely Alberta Ferretti influenced purple chiffon tea dress from Laura Ashley purchased about three years ago. It holds its shape well and is pretty trans seasonal too.

I bought the new edition of LOVE magazine edited by Katie Grand and am profoundly irritated by the choice of cover models- Edie Campbell; Cara Ubiquitous-Delevingne, Georgia Jagger....All daughters of rock aristo/aristo and definitely nepotism city. Campbell is the Granddaughter of David Hicks and the Mountbattten lot, Delevingne is very well connected and of course Georgia wouldn't be modelling without her connections (IMO). Shame on Katie Grand for being so bloody blinkered. The only cover model to not have this leg up is Chloe Moretz. And not one non Caucasian either. However Katie Grand styles Prada with Russell Marsh and they've been accused of nearly always casting white models.

santamarianovella · 01/08/2013 17:19

mig prada campaigns are always weird, with weird looking models,do you remember the one with huge eyebrows?

mignonette · 01/08/2013 17:38

I do and I have heard accusations of racism directed towards them specifically in the past. They do the odd token gesture every now and again. I love Miuccia Prada and it confuses me because she seems so intelligent and feminist yet her campaigns/runway shows are a sea of white faces in a very cosmopolitan world.
