New lingerie for me here and here and Stella.

Knitwear from Marni and here too. I love this yellow to go with a prim skirt. this Stella stripey sweater is cool too. A favourite primrose yellow panelled sweater from Marni here. And this is a bit of Tiger fun and here is an adaptable Iris&Ink.

Neon may be going 'out' but i don't care and I have ordered this Tibi. The fine knit sleeves are great for Menopausal hotness.

bargain J Crew grey woollen and a Rag & Bone fine gauge knit in cream.

So far my gifts have included a Microplane Grater requested by myself from DD plus a bottle of Bel Respiro from Chanel, their exclusifs Parfum range. This is very light, herbal and Daffodill-y scent and a new direction from me. DD and Stepchildren put their ££ together to buy this. DS bought me linens from Tunisia plus a plastic coke bottle full of Saharan sand (!)...

DH has yet to give me his gift but I have asked him to buy me a pair of Winter boots later on in the Autumn so hope he has not spent too much on anything else. I want some boot suggestions from any boot afficionadoes. I usually wear Bikers and low ankle ones so more of those wouldn't be a bad idea. My favourite Bikers are from Dr Martens and Belstaff.

It's thundering biblically here. Scared (a bit)...

mignonette · 02/08/2013 11:05

Shop that jacket will look super cool with the camo loafers. That sassy mix of English utility fabric with the woollen weave and the street influence of those shoes. I don't suit open knit sweaters but I love the shade. I would partner that skirt with a sloppy sweatshirt in a luxe fabric- wool or well made jersey in a really off beat colour. Or go street Ragga and pair it with an old Skool Adidas style zip track suit top like this in that heavy close fit stretch jersey/lycra (you can find similar in stores such as River Island/TopShop), trainers, those camo brogues or similar shoe. Or a pretty pleated cotton blouse in an informal fit-not close cut.

Skyler You have really good taste- That dress is absolutely lovely and I love that coat too. The dress will be perfect for the class room, not too short so that students can see up your skirt when you perch on a desk but young and cool too. pair it with a bright cardigan or bright patterned wool tights in winter and a cool pair of shoes- brogues in all colours are in store, Shop linked to some cool designs. I'd put so many colours with that dress- ochre yellow, pale pink and dusty blue, Olive greens in shoes, tights or cardigans wld go too as will burgundy and purples. Go bold with violets.

skylerwhite · 02/08/2013 11:09

Aw shucks, thanks mignonette Flowers. I'm going to get that dress, but I am a bit confused about sizing - has anyone bought from stories.com before? I'm a UK8, and it says on the size guide that this is equivalent to EUR34 or FR36. But how do you know if the item is using EUR or FR sizing?

BrandyAlexander · 02/08/2013 11:14

Happy birthday Mig! Flowers

I have had such a grim few days. And I used to think sleep was overated! I think I am at 6 hours collectively over the last 3 nights.

However, on sunnier news. I passed through M&S on saturday and saw this biker coat which i quite like.

Annianni · 02/08/2013 11:14

Happy birthday Mig Thanks

Fab news about your niece.

Welcome Skyler

I'll catch up on links later.
We're in the middle of moving ds1's worldly goods into the attic.
Ds2 wants to help, which makes it take twice as long!

I emailed J Crew asking for an RMA and they've told me to keep the bikini top (which is very nice, just a bit small) as the cost of returning it, is more than it's worth.

So when I finally get my arse into gear, and lose this weight, I'll have a lovely bikini top waiting for me... As it'll inevitably come off my boobs before anywhere else Hmm

I think Mr Beckham wears his undies once, then bins them Dry, as he likes them to be super white and new.
I remember seeing something on tv years ago.

Annianni · 02/08/2013 11:20

My neon pink J Crew cashmere is due for delivery today.
I don't care if neon is 'out', I think it'll be fab for Winter.

I'm returning the grey J Crew cashmere from The Outnet too, they must have had a return as a medium appeared online today... The large feels a bit too big, so finger's crossed the medium fits me.

mignonette · 02/08/2013 11:26

My &OtherStories sandals just arrived here they are and they fit. A bit snug but new snug IYKWIM?

I was reading the paranormal thread when the postman knocked on the door and nearly had a Cardiac Arrest.

Re sizing Skyler I alway thought they were the same but if you email/call their customer services they'll be able to tell you. I hate sizing stuff as it is so subjective and differs wildly even in the same store. All a mess really.

Novice why are you having sleep problems? I have some catch up to do so may have missed an earlier post from you. Hope this resolves for you..

mignonette · 02/08/2013 11:27

Anni I just pinned that J Crew- it is a bargain really because it will never ever date.

skylerwhite · 02/08/2013 11:33

Thanks Mig - I just rang them. Apparently they use EUR sizing as standard. Hope it fits now over my slightly too-generous bosom. &OtherStories is a beautiful website, can't wait to spend more time and money on it.

Oh - and happy birthday Flowers

libertychick · 02/08/2013 12:03

Welcome skyler. I like that coat. I tried that stories dress on last week and it did not look good on me - I found the waist very tight, the top was huge and the skirt puffed out in a very unflattering way - such as shame I I loved the pattern and the fact it was silk. Will be interested to hear if it works on you.

Happy Birthday Mig and fantastic news about your niece.

Shop I love those loafers. I have being experimenting with my ruched Me&Em skirt for casual looks and it works with this shape jumper. Also looks good with the silk jersey T and biker and with a vest and long cardigan. I am not sure what to do for footwear though. You could probably go with ankle boots - unfortunately my legs don't suit the ankle boot and skirt look at all so maybe loafers/slippers?

shopafrolic · 02/08/2013 12:06

J Crew need to be careful. That's twice now they've refunded low cost items and said to keep them (remember my bracelet?). They must be losing a fortune - or have great margins!

www.shoescribe.com has an extra 20% off sale shoes if you shop via their mobile site or on a tablet.

It's the sister site for Yoox, and where I got the Sam Edelman trainers from cheaper than anywhere else.

They do rag & bone and Acne too... :o

libertychick · 02/08/2013 12:10

Skyler I just read back and my post sounds a bit grim about the dress!! I tried on the 12 - I usually fit a 10/12 on top so it should be ok with a 'generous' bosom. That said I have not had much success at all with other stories - I have gone in 3 times now for try on sessions and nothing really worked on me so it could be that they just don't cut for pear shapes.

libertychick · 02/08/2013 12:11

Novice I spotted that M&S coat too - wish they had it in navy - dark green doesn't really suit me and I am trying to wean myself off black.

skylerwhite · 02/08/2013 12:21

No worries liberty Smile

It's always a lottery ordering online, unless you really know the sizing of the place. We shall see - I'll report back when it arrives.

santamarianovella · 02/08/2013 12:25

shopafrolic · 02/08/2013 12:44

Do report back Skylerwhite I'm rubbish when people buy things and then don't feedback - feel as though I've been left hanging - hope you feel fab in it and welcome again.

For those of you who like a bit of draping

and a pencil skirt by Gaultier

MarshaBrady · 02/08/2013 13:03

Me too Shop! Love the feedback, preferably with a re-link so I don't have to scroll back Grin.

Sleep wish you were coming too. Hopefully the October one will work for everyone.

MarshaBrady · 02/08/2013 13:04

Skyler love that dress too, definitely try it on. Rubbish at catching up today!

OneLittleLady · 02/08/2013 14:51

I love the draped dress mig I'd just worry that on me, the high neck would look a bit....matronly. I usually have to go for a v neck to counter the more than ample bosom

mignonette · 02/08/2013 14:51

Interesting article here that I missed when it was first published. Has anybody already read it?

QueenCadbury · 02/08/2013 16:41

Ugh, I'm still feeling hungover. Thank goodness my parents have arrived so I don't have to do anymore childcare. I can hear poor granny's screams on the trampoline in the garden whilst I sit here on the sofa Grin.

shop I'm useless with skirts and tops as I can never get the proportions right, maybe because of my long torso? I don't own any skirts anymore. Also as liberty said, I always find footwear a problem. It's fine in the summer with sandals but what about winter?

skyler welcome. Love the coat.

I've just taken 4 more items to the dress agency (some of my initial stuff has sold and although I'm not making loads of money it's all better than nothing). I now feel that I hardly have any clothes but at least wht I do have now are all in my colours and all make me feel good. I'm going to work out exactly how many items I have of each type if clothing. I'd be really interested to know how much stuff everyone else owns too....

OneLittleLady · 02/08/2013 16:52

I don't know how many clothes I own exactly but I know I am lacking in jackets and coats. I used to buy so many of them but nothing's caught my eye recently so I have been wearing the same few repeatedly. Would love to get a really nice winter coat instead of making do with whatever I find in my size
