shop giraffe comment is lovely...see Smile

libertychick · 01/08/2013 21:32

One I think this sort of skirt might work - basically you want to skim the tummy and hip area and have a flared shape. Spanx could also be your friend!

LeFreak I am debating a maxi dress too - I have seen lots of images of jumpers layered over maxis so could be a good autumn look with converse, denim jacket or biker etc.

Mig Seasalt might be good for some for soft cotton sleep tops. I think QueenC has bought from them.

Shop and Marsha you sound like giggly school girls cooking up a plot - I am curious!! Love that look Shop are you going to go for the change of hair?

QueenC none of those dresses grab me as the 'one' - I am voting for the DVF jumpsuit still.

Had a mild heart attack today when I spotted my lovely new silk jersey T slung across the airer - DH did some washing Shock he is banned from washing my clothes but wanted to fill up the machine. Washed at 30 degrees but 1600 spin!!! About 5% shrinkage which is fine Smile

shopafrolic · 01/08/2013 21:32

I know Dry thanks. And to all of you for the reassurance. It just sometimes feels very tedious. As a SAHM I feel I should be better at this stuff than I am! It's supposed to be all Cath Kidston and home baking right?

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 01/08/2013 21:35

Liberty my heart rate went up then with your laundry tale! I've told DH to not go near any washing - he's fine with that and extends the avoidance to cooking, cleaning, ironing Grin
I am thinking about growing my hair a bit. Not sure though, I always feel most like me when it's short. I first cut it off in my teens a la Lisa Stansfield. Feels wrong long and girly.

One I meant to add that I have big hips and I think it's better to just embrace them rather than trying to disguise - obviously avoid completely unflattering styles but better to play with proportions so try to create a waisted look, emphasize your norks with a padded or push up bra and try to get the skirt length to hit at the narrowest part of your calf just below the knee.

Drywhiteplease · 01/08/2013 21:39

Grin at Cath Kidston and home baking!!!! More like chicken nuggets and stiff G and T here!!!!!!!!Shop

libertychick · 01/08/2013 21:40

Shop it was traumatic! Only the type of trauma a fellow MNVer would really appreciate. And hat's off to all the SAHMs (and Dads!). It's hard work and small children can be bloody tedious.

Drywhiteplease · 01/08/2013 21:40

Mig the cobalt blue A line skirt from And Other Stories is just what I need for A/W.....would love one in orange, mustard or emerald too

MarshaBrady · 01/08/2013 21:41

Grin.

Vogue and caffeine here.

Liberty just a little look at A/W in preparation. You're welcome to join us! (anyone is).

MarshaBrady · 01/08/2013 21:42

Liberty Shock dh is banned too.

No one goes near my washing and the Bosch!

libertychick · 01/08/2013 21:45

Thanks Marsha I guessed after I typed as I remembered Shop mentioning the date before - would love to join but likely to be doing something for DH's birthday that weekend.

Wine and peppa pig are my saviours on my mummy days.

libertychick · 01/08/2013 21:51

Shop I get that sense of what is 'you' with hair - I always feel most like me with a short curly bob (which I have now by default) but worry that it looks messy and unprofessional...it was the style I had in uni and sometimes think I associate it with the good times.

shopafrolic · 01/08/2013 21:53

YY that's it Liberty I'm obviously harking back to my yoof!

OneLittleLady · 01/08/2013 22:03

liberty I'm not sure I need a padded bra tbh, I'm carrying G cups about atm Blush my waist is definitely my smallest point and is defined even though I'm undeniably fat. I have some pencil type skirts in double jersey and find them ok to wear as the thickness of the material somewhat hides the overhang, I just wear a slightly longer top to cover the rest

Annianni · 01/08/2013 22:05

Liberty you poor thing, I would have been horrified.

When I first met dh, I was shocked to see him put all of his and dsd's washing in together... absolutely everything, in one load!?!

He won't touch any of my stuff.
And is quite happy for me to do it all now anyway.

Shop, I feel your pain... we went to the zoo today, it was so busy and it was awful.
i have never seen so many people with teeth missing in one place before either

Can someone please remind me not to go again, until after the holidays :o

Annianni · 01/08/2013 22:09

Sorry, that sounds really bitchy... but it was grim!

AmberNectarine · 01/08/2013 22:47

I have a separate basket for my things which is not touched. Anyone else's is fair game.

OneLittleLady · 01/08/2013 23:03

I do all the washing anyway, DP would have no clean pants if weren't for me. Last time DP did the washing, he shrank all my woolly jumpers Angry

libertychick · 01/08/2013 23:05

Gosh the laundry story hit a collective nerve Smile

Double jersey pencil skirts sound good one Grin at the G cups!! I have rather average norks so tend to try and boost them to balance out the hips.

Anni and Shop you are great to do all that stuff with your children - I am so lazy, trying to psyche myself up and take DD into London one of these days - July 2012 was her last city outing once off the Tube I took black cabs everywhere Blush

OneLittleLady · 01/08/2013 23:11

the G cups are a menace liberty I get creepy old men on buses telling me things like 'god, you've big titties for a little girl' Angry I'd happily trade them in for something more average!

libertychick · 01/08/2013 23:18

That's so annoying one. One of my friends is F cup and very tall and slim - people seem to think it's ok to just ask her if they are real or make comments like the one you describe - what on earth makes people think it's ok to do this??? You wouldn't randomly comment on other body parts. My friend says she is sometimes made to feel like she should strap them down!

OneLittleLady · 01/08/2013 23:24

Exactly, people would never dream of say, commenting on the size of someones arm would they?

Drywhiteplease · 02/08/2013 06:40

liberty at uni I had a shaggy, permed bob like Meg Ryan in "When Harry Met Sally", God I loved that hair ( apart from the factvthatbit was solid due to all the mousse I had to use to get it to stay curly)..it was "good time" hair!

I shrunk DH's fav jumper the other day and dyed his pants, tennis socks and a hand made white shirt cream because I put dD's orange hoodie Shock in with the whites for some reason ! Owned up to socks and pants....disposed of shirt........first thought was " thank god it wnt my stuff!

foxysocks · 02/08/2013 07:52

Oh! I am in London Saturday 24th Smile. But do have v v v hard week starting 8am Sunday morning so need to be fresh as a daisy.

Marsha I want the 3" chino shorts I think but not convinced on any of their colours.
