... please tell me what size you are and what your thigh circumference is (at it's biggest part).

I am a size 14 but still my thighs rub together and in this heat it's a total pain (literally). How much further do I need to slim down to stop this?! Always been chunky of thigh but surely it's not impossible for me? Currently at 26cm Blush each! what should I be aiming for? 25? 24? 22? 21?

My dd is 12 years old, 5ft 5" tall and weighs 7 and a half stone and is a size 6. She does not have a gap between her thighs because she has a narrow pelvis. I think it is an unrealistic target for the vast majority of women because we are just not built that way.

RoooneyMara · 08/07/2013 09:50

Interesting qu.

pickledparsnip · 08/07/2013 09:51

I would like to know too. I'm a size 12, chunky of thigh too. Past 2 days hace been so painful! Think I'll have to resort to leggings & just boil.

pickledparsnip · 08/07/2013 09:51

*have

FriedSprout · 08/07/2013 09:51

Hi, my thighs also very chunky. Have lost weight recently and the largest part of thigh is now 24"
They don't now rub together - for which I am very grateful. Hope that helps.
A 5'3" if that makes any difference.

2much2young · 08/07/2013 09:55

your dd is still growing though Mintyy and I suspect that if she is already 5ft 5" at 12 her pelvis will widen a little - she's still got lots of growing to do. Lucky girl she will be long of leg and gloriously slim by the sounds of it.

Size 10-12. Just measured my thighs with a bit of paper and a ruler Grin and they're apparently 21 inches circumference.

Aetae · 08/07/2013 09:55

I think it also depends on your hip width and how your legs / hips are shaped. My thighs have never rubbed together, I'm not sure what circumference they are but I'm pear shaped so they're not skinny. I'm 5'5 and I weighed 61kg (size 8) before I got pregnant (but was up at 65kg and a size 12 before I lost weight a few years ago and still no rubbing). My thighs have always been muscly from gymnastics when I was a kid, I think that helps too.

3MonthMaid · 08/07/2013 09:56

I am not much over a size 10 at the moment, have been a 14 in the past. My thighs have always rubbed together ??

2much2young · 08/07/2013 09:56

thanks FriedSprout I wonder if height does make a difference - I am tall-ish, 5ft 8

I expect muscle tone will make a difference too?

Despite having chunky thighs, mine stopped rubbing together when I got down to a 14 or so. Now I'm a 12 there are no problems.

In support of Minty's theory of pelvis width, I do quite a wide pelvis.

mumblechum1 · 08/07/2013 09:58

Mine are a lot better since I started dancing 3 times a week. I have now bought and am wearing (in the garden at least Grin) a pair of size 10 very short shorts from H&M and feel gooooood!

peasandlove · 08/07/2013 09:59

I'm 6ft, size 10/12, my thighs are about 23inches around.. they have never rubbed but i've always been slim. I believe it's to do with hip width too as my friend's always have and she is very narrow through the hips

VelvetStrider · 08/07/2013 09:59

22 inches. Size 10ish (varies from shop to shop)

As a teenager I was very embarrassed that I had a gap between my thighs and wished my legs were closer together, but I guess it must be uncomfortable in hot weather with constant chafing.

FidgetPie · 08/07/2013 09:59

Mine do rub and I have found a product called glide (also used in sport to avoid chaffing) which reduces the friction meaning I can wear skirts now!

Tangfasticlady · 08/07/2013 10:00

I'm 5ft and 7st.
My thighs are 18 inches and don't rub, but think it's definitely more to do with your body shape too.

Lizzylou · 08/07/2013 10:00

5ft 9"
Size 14

No idea of thigh circumference but not small! My outer thighs are my issue though. I do do a lot of exercise, running and spinning in particular are very good for thighs.
If I can shift this next 1/2stone my thighs get much smaller.

landofsoapandglory · 08/07/2013 10:01

Size 10 and my thighs are just over 20 inches.

SorrelForbes · 08/07/2013 10:01

Size 10/12. Thigh circumference of 23.5". My thighs rub together.

Pascha · 08/07/2013 10:01

21.5 inches at their widest point. I'm a 10-12 too.

THERhubarb · 08/07/2013 10:02

I have narrow hips, always have and mine don't rub together. Don't know what circumference they are or how much I weigh. I'm about 5ft 7. I'm a straight up and down shape, no real curves at all.

I do a lot of walking though. 4 miles a day taking ds to school and back and I've ever been a big eater. I hate cakes and chocolate.

Keztrel · 08/07/2013 10:03

Shape of thighs, muscle tone and width of pelvis are all factors. My thighs don't rub when I walk but there's no gap between them, unless I bend forward. I'm a size 8 and thighs are 22in at biggest part.

ballroomblitz · 08/07/2013 10:03

Size 8 and 21" (nearly 5ft 7) I think the size of your hips would play a part too. I have 'child-bearing' hips according to my ex so my thighs would be further apart I would think.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 08/07/2013 10:03

I thought you look better if there isn't a gap as well? Or am I missing something. I agree it's a body shape thing. I've got wide hips and a very obvious pear shape.

I'm size 8/10 in topshop skinnies, and BMI of 20. Not sure what my thighs measurements are.
