to those of you who's thighs don't rub together ...

... please tell me what size you are and what your thigh circumference is (at it's biggest part).

I am a size 14 but still my thighs rub together and in this heat it's a total pain (literally). How much further do I need to slim down to stop this?! Always been chunky of thigh but surely it's not impossible for me? Currently at 26cm Blush each! what should I be aiming for? 25? 24? 22? 21?

5'8
37" hips
21" upper thigh

Mrsrobertduvall · 08/07/2013 10:47

Mine are 20 ins...I'm 6 feet, size 12 bottom, weigh 11 stone.
No rubbing.

TheRealFellatio · 08/07/2013 10:48

Are you all using this? It really is brilliant. I live in a very hot and humid climate and I wouldn't be without it.

I am hefty of thigh, even when I'm having a slim phase. But my DH is very slim and he still has this problem. We don't leave home without our trusty tube of anti-chafe gel. God, that makes me feel about 100, saying that. Hmm

JennySense · 08/07/2013 11:00

I think this is a physiological issue rather than a weight one.
I've never had this problem despite being at one time nearly 9 stone overweight!
I have a small pelvis and am 5'3".

SummerMyArse · 08/07/2013 11:04

My thighs have always rubbed.
Even when I was a teenager, size 8 and a competitive swimmer.

Someone in my family is quite large and would get very sore thighs in the summer. She found some sort of large knickers/light cotton short type things which went under skirts and couldn't be seen. She was a lot more comfortable after that.

Think she found them in m&s.

i always wear longer shorts (half way down thigh) which look better than hotpants and mean I don't rub. Gap does good length shorts.

Bluecarrot · 08/07/2013 11:04

I don't know but I wear cotton rich cycling shorts under dresses and skirts to stop rubbing.

I've heard there's a gel by lanacane that will stop/ reduce it too. Haven't seen it in shops though.

DoctorAnge · 08/07/2013 11:06

size 10 and 20 inches

BIWI · 08/07/2013 11:10

I'm size 10, 5 ft 2in and weigh around 9 stone 4 or at least I did before I went on holiday, thigh = 22.5 inches. They don't rub together. However, they did when I was size 14 and weighed 11 stone 5lbs!

I bought some bloomer-type knickers from M&S which were brilliant.

RandomFriend · 08/07/2013 11:17

My thighs have always rubbed together, even when I was size 10.

Wish they didn't.

notso · 08/07/2013 11:19

When I was a slender teen I could always tell if I'd put a bit of weight on when my thighs touched.
I used to do squats and this other exercise where you lean against the wall with your knees bent as if you are sat on a chair and arms stretched out. I used to stay like that for as long as I could then repeat.

JazzDalek · 08/07/2013 11:39

Have just measured over my trousers and mine are about 21.5". I'm 5'6" and 10-12 on my bottom half.

I have never noticed any rubbing. Pear-shaped with wideish hips thank God as massive babies run in family

RoooneyMara · 08/07/2013 12:59

Ok well I'm back and having measured the widest bit they're about 19".

I'm normally a 10, am a bit post pregnancy at the moment. 5ft 7, 9 stone and a bit.

MrsMangoBiscuit · 08/07/2013 13:05

7 months pregnant, gone up to a size 18 in the few non-maternity clothes I can still squeeze into, 6' tall, and fairly certain I'm the heaviest here by a long way! I have previously had awful chafing in hot weather. I'm still walking just as much, but for some reason my thighs aren't rubbing. So you all just need to get pregnant! Grin

ToastedTeacakes · 08/07/2013 13:07

I have never thought of measuring my thigh!

It's an odd subject, for many women naturally store fat or have a distinct amount of curve in this area. And again, some don't. No big deal. But I think there's this weird trend for gaps and thinness right now, and so many women are thinking they don't measure up, if you'll pardon the pun!

Mine are 20 inches at widest part. I am 5"4 and size 8-10. This is actually a bit lower than my crotch area, so there's this tiny little gap above it. It is not the gap you see in popular imagery, so I guess my hips are fairly narrow (34 inches).

I also think we get super conscious of this area of our bodies due to current fashion trends 0 super skinny, form fitting clothes. It draws our attention to these parts whether we like it or not, and I NEVER used to feel conscious of my things prior to the skinny pants trend. Now I notice them all the time, ans always wonder if they are proportionate, too wide, etc. It is sad :(

Thing is though, I actually kind of like the fatter curve of a woman's thing area. I have a fairly flat and boyish body apart from my thighs....so the contrast is nice to be honest. It's like our culture wants me to hate them, but I don't think I can.

Not sure if they rub together, but possibly not - as I would be sure, I suppose. I didn't think weight had much to do with this, but I'm not entirely sure..

ToastedTeacakes · 08/07/2013 13:08

womans thigh area.

miffybun73 · 08/07/2013 13:09

I'm a size 10, 5ft 2 in and 8.5 stone. My thighs rub together and get sore in the heat - a bit of baby powder on my thighs helps.

RoooneyMara · 08/07/2013 13:12

Right that's wrong. Or this one is wrong. I don't know. Different tape measure, says they are about 22.

They don't rub though whatever.

Do we measure standing up or sitting down?

2much2young · 08/07/2013 13:13

I don't care about having a thigh gap and although my thighs are chunky they are still quite shapely rather than just solid all the way down and they look ok in jeans etc as I have an hour glass body shape - I just don't want chaffing and rubbing in the hot weather when I'm wearing a skirt/dress!!!

My thighs have always rubbed together no matter how big or small I've been/am. I do know I have a very narrow pelvis if that makes any difference ?(narrow enough not to be able to give birth naturally!)

TiredMule · 08/07/2013 13:17

I'm a 10-12, 5'8" and they don't rub. Just measured them as 21.5". I do have wide hips though so that keeps them apart! They need to be less thunderous.....I'm working on that!

TiredMule · 08/07/2013 13:18

Blush Whoops think I've got " and ' confused!!

Lancelottie · 08/07/2013 13:18

Have just improvised with two sheets of A4 (luckily no one is looking). I'd say they're 23".

5 ft 3, size 10-12 but wide pelvis.

Chopstheduck · 08/07/2013 13:18

not read the whole thread, but I am very pear shaped naturally. I started c 2 5k 6 months ago, and now run 3-4 times a week. My legs are the thinnest they have ever been, and I still have (small) boobs! My body has actually evened out a bit, and my thighs don't run. Might be worth a try?

KatoPotato · 08/07/2013 13:24

Size 10/12 and 21.5.

Last year I was almost 5 stone heavier so really enjoying not being a chaffed mess!

KatoPotato · 08/07/2013 13:25

ps I used my mouse cable at work and a filofax ruler!
