... please tell me what size you are and what your thigh circumference is (at it's biggest part).

I am a size 14 but still my thighs rub together and in this heat it's a total pain (literally). How much further do I need to slim down to stop this?! Always been chunky of thigh but surely it's not impossible for me? Currently at 26cm Blush each! what should I be aiming for? 25? 24? 22? 21?

I am a 14 but mine don't rub together. I have extremely narrow pelvis too! So narrow that after my emergency c section, the consultant said "You're built like a man in that area." Hmm

However...I did a LOT of dance as a teen and in my twenties and my muscle tone is very good so that's probably why. I do have fat hips though. Grin

My thighs have always rubbed together. Currently a size 18-20 so it's inevitable that they will. But they rubbed together even when I was a slim size 10 (many moons ago).

Just measured mine with Wonder Web and a Stanley tape measure, 17inches, with a panoramic thigh gap. Hmmm, I am thinking I am officially some sort of freak.

Size 10, 20 inches, apple shape, and short. Have never had the chafing thing, and didn't even know until this thread that some women do. (Now I understand what a friend was getting at when she talked about how uncomfortable it is wearing skirts/dresses in hot weather Blush )

use Vaseline on the rubbing together bits.

I am a slim size 2 (US) but have disproportionately fat legs am curvy and athletic of thigh . I run 5 times a week but the only thing that makes my thighs shrink is ditching the carbs...completely Sad. Probably not the answer you wanted but there you go Smile.

well you know what Maca I must say that I do notice that trousers are snugger when I've had a carb heavy weekend and I'm sure I've read on other threads that water retention is worse when you consume a lot of carbs, something to do with water molecules attaching more easily to fat cells but now that I'm typing it all sounds like bollox Grin

Re the apple / pear thing, I would just like to say for the record that my thighs might slap together most mightily, but my boobs remain pert and separate. They don't even get sweaty underneath.

Never had this problem (chunky thighs but "child bearing" hips) but seeing so many non-obese women on this thread suffering from it baffles me in evolutionary terms. Surely a body shape where bits rub together painfully if you go for a walk without trousers on is really crap - even by the shoddy design standards of the human body? Can we put in some kind of class action?

And while we're at it, these so-called "child-bearing hips", whilst handy for preventing chaffing, did not perform their advertised function to a reasonable standard

Pert boobs you say? I think the last time were pert I was about 14 and even they I think it was touch and go being ample in the breast region also.

Perhaps those of us with the shoddy thigh design were meant to carried around like the goddesses that we are Wink

Oh no, I hate the boob thing, never had them and never will. Would love to have them (but not gonna pay for them)

You women with boobs will always be an enigma to me.

5'10" size 14, 23"thigh Never have rubbed together about average size.

I have got a gap of about 1-2 cm though. I'm sure its bone structure because I am slightly bandy legged and used to dislike this until I read about chafing.

I think I would have to put on loads of weight for my legs to rub.

Prompted by this thread I did some observation at the supermarket yesterday Grin.

My conclusion is that most men (regardless of size or shape) don't have thighs that rub, and most women (regardless of size or shape) do have thighs that rub together. Those women that didn't tended to be very lean build. I think it must be to do with the pelvis shape and the way the legs fit into it.

So maybe that means there is little point in dieting to get lean thighs. Try using antiperspirant instead, particularly the block ones.

I am size 12/14 and have 21 1/2 inch thighs. They dont rub. But I'm apple shaped, rather than pear, and have naturally lean muscley legs with little excess flesh (unlike my waist area which is a horror to behold) so I'd vote with those saying its body shape rather than size. I'm not particularly slim but its not a problem, whereas some much slimmer women are tortured with thigh rub.

That's so true about male thigh rub - men tend to have gorgeous muscular fat-free rub-free thighs, because they carry any flab above the pants line in an apple stylee.

5'4", probably about a 12-14 on the bottom at the moment but have been an 8 in the past and my thighs still touched at the top. They move against each other when I walk but not to the extent that it hurts or I end up with chafing, if that makes sense?

I wear size 14, just to humour you ( a stranger n the internet! ) I measured the fattest part of my thighs, they ar 25.5 inch, and do not rub together.

So you are close!

Disclaimer, I have very wide hips/pelvis, I remember my Gyno saying my pelvis was s wide I could give birth to twins simultaneously Angry

Never thought about that having an effect on thigh chaving....

RatHammock · 09/07/2013 10:06

Size 6-8, 5'5" and 18" thighs here. No rubbing. I have a small gap of about 2cm between my thighs when I stand up.

Have just conducted experiment and 'The Bell Jar' fits between them easily but 'The God Delusion' does not.

Chandon · 09/07/2013 10:10

I think I have the biggest yet non chafing thighs on here so far.

Maybe I juts tend to walk with my legs wide apart ( like a tena lady or John Wayne) ... So sexy

weirdly though men tend to have narrow hips/pelvis so surely this should mean that their legs chafe!

Wow Chandon that is amazing, you must have great hips to sashay with!

My thighs are 26 inches at widest part, and I have to stand with my big toes about 12 inches apart in order to get them not to touch.

I have discovered (after much burrowing) that my front pelvic bones are about 12 inches apart too (as measured in a straight line with a ruler, not around the flab with a tape measure iyswim).
