..with tummy often bigger than boobs, ugh!
great to rant - full of PMT and need to offload!

littlelamb · 04/06/2006 17:45

Re the flip flops- get yourself a pair of Reefs, available at any surfer type shop. They are about 15 quid a pair but they will last forever and they are like walking on air! Also, I have to say that I took Cods advice and tried on some city shorts in H and M today, and I LOVED them! Only a tenner, and I am a size 14 and they look great, and usually I will not even consider showing more than the very bottom of my leg. So all hail to the fishy one!

zoeuk1 · 04/06/2006 17:46

it looks awful. sometimes i'll see a young girl with a short tight skirt on, rolls of fat hanging over and i just want to go up and say, why are you wearing that? do you think it looks nice??

southeastastra · 04/06/2006 17:47

i hate those jogging bottoms with writing on. I saw someone in tescos with 'bling bling' on them.

what are ankle swingers?Blush

Blossomhill · 04/06/2006 17:48

zoe - I agree and if it was my daughter I wouldn't let her out!

FrannyandZooey · 04/06/2006 17:49

I know what you mean zoe, they could look a lot better if they weren't just wearing this identikit 'sexy' outfit as seen on MTV which is going to look crap on 95% of body types.

zoeuk1 · 04/06/2006 17:49

i saw a girl once when i was out on a saturday nioght and she was quite an attractive looking girl but i looked down and she had on a really really short skirt and high heels and her legs were covered in cellulite on the front and back. she reminded me of a hippo in high heels. i just thought what are you doing?????

babyonboard · 04/06/2006 17:50

it's a positive thing if an overweight teenager feels confident about their body to flaunt it..
i'd rather that than have a daughter who throws up every meal and smokes to stay thin..

Blossomhill · 04/06/2006 17:50

fmf - basically when your trousers are too short and hang around your ankles. A real bug bearer with me.

babyonboard · 04/06/2006 17:51

i have badass stretchmarks on the backs of my knees (the only place i got them!?) since having ds and i will happily wear a short skirt on a hot day..i don't give a rats ass if some hag frowns on it..

zoeuk1 · 04/06/2006 17:51

fiofio, im talking about 16/17/18 yr olds. when i was that age theres no way i would go out in something if it looked terrible. id look in a mirror or my mum/ sisters would tell me if i looked ok. i know that i would look stupid in a pair of skin tight hipster jeans with a belly top.

littlelamb · 04/06/2006 17:52

babyonboard- i have exactly the same problem but i wish i had your confidence :( they have really faded now and are hardly noticeable but I am very very self conscious about them

MamaG · 04/06/2006 17:54

I have stretchmarks on my tummy and when I was moaning about how much I hate them, DH said he loves them because they show that I carried our babies Blush

zoeuk1 · 04/06/2006 17:54

id wear a short skirt. when my legs are tanned and ive got heels on i think i can get away with a short skirt. but i wouldnt if i had legs that looked like big mounds of cottage cheese! what im saying is, just because you like something doesnt mean it will suit you. just because somethings in fashion doesnt mean it will look good on you.

MrsBadger · 04/06/2006 17:55

for the flipflop refuseniks (of whom I am one), just get mules - not as cheap or easy to find but three million times more comfortable.
Clarks have some nice ones \link{http://www.shoesdirect.co.uk/acatalog/Shoesdirect_Rollio_1300.html\here} and \link{http://www.shoesdirect.co.uk/acatalog/Shoesdirect_Rosabella_1301.html\here}.

hmm..i'm in the mood to rant and you guys are really loading up the ammunition..

re. the 'bosnian' comment..
my dp's grandparents were forced out of their home and village by machine gun weilding albanians and ended up as refugess for a while with only the clothes on their back, and no way to know where friends and family were, or indeed if they were still alive.
i bet at the time they were most concerned they might be seen wearing too short trousers..

zoeuk1 · 04/06/2006 18:06

im sure that wasnt meant to be offensive.

fullmoonfiend · 04/06/2006 18:09

I know, I know, I realised as soon as I had poseted someone could take offence. Sorry, was not meant to be offensive, it was black humour at the time.

zoeuk1 · 04/06/2006 18:12

the title of this thread is 'please do not wear' after all

babyonboard · 04/06/2006 18:13

okay okay..but sometimes it really annoys me how bitchy mnet can be..
do we all come on here to vent when we're stressed at home or what!?
