gingerbear I totally agree doesn't somebody at home tell them how awful they look before they leave home? Even now my mum tells me if I look awful in what I am wearing but that is a good thing right? You just can't wear low slung jeans and short tops if you are big it looks disgusting! I was a size 14 at christmas and would never have dreamed to go out like it.. I am now a size 10 and STILL wouldn't dream of going out like it! yuk!

bunny3 · 03/06/2006 15:50

im a 14, how did you get to a 10?

laughinglil · 03/06/2006 15:54

i went on the cambridge diet I have maintained the same weight for about 2/3 months now it was very very hard but worth it!

LucyJones · 03/06/2006 15:58

bunny - you diet or exercise!! Nt that there is anything wrong with being a size 14.

Pinotmum · 03/06/2006 15:59

I am over 40 and have a strappy top on today. No bingo wings or crepe decollege crime being committed here! I have a better bod than some gals significantly younger and will continue to wear them until such time as I look a fright!

laughinglil · 03/06/2006 16:01

good on you pinotmum! my mum is 53 and wears thick strap vest tops , she doesn't have 'bingo wings' and looks great .. I would tell her if she didn't!

Better than men in jeans, button-up shirts and steel toe-cap boots in this weather. Like my dh.
I'd be quite happy to get him into baggy khaki shorts things, tbh.

expatinscotland · 03/06/2006 17:01

men - i don't care HOW good your bod is, please leave your tops on. take your top off at the beach or in the climbing gym - slurp! if you are lithe and fit.

but no one wants to see your bare torso as you sip Stella at the pub's outdoor tables.

Snafu · 03/06/2006 17:03

I like those khaki shorts. They hide a multitude of sins and can look damn sexy on the right chap.

BadHair · 03/06/2006 17:03

Uggh, sweaty men with tops off - YUK. And while drinking beer and shouting at football outside high street pubs - even worse.

mrsbang · 03/06/2006 17:17

Rofl at this thread.

Have spent the last few days on holiday trying to work out why so many people were wearing 3/4 length trousers. My boys all love them for some reason, but can't understand the attraction for adults. Shorts I can understand, full-length trousers I can understand, but just can't work out the attraction of 3/4 length.

(Maybe I'm just jealous cos with my ankles I'd not be seen dead in them lol)

LadyCodofCOdford · 03/06/2006 19:18

yes do not dress your littel boys in lidicrous 3/4 lenght shorts or trunks that they look sweltering in

OP posts:
robinpud · 03/06/2006 19:41

.. crop trousers and flip flops and not realise how hot it is.. have horrendous beetroot red lower limbs and have come home to hide in my own garden in long trousers for next month.

NotQuiteCockney · 03/06/2006 19:53

I probably commit most of the sins Cod is obsessing about ... but I want to whinge about someone else.

There's an acquaintance of mine who is (I think) 40ish, rounder (size 20+, apple-shaped), short, and seems to not own clothing. I mean, the other day, at a party, she was wearing short shorts, I mean the kind that just cover your butt. And a tight low-cut top. But not shiny sequiny dressy hooker shorts and top, just casual stuff.

I honestly don't know what goes through her head when she gets dressed. Any ideas?

NotQuiteCockney · 03/06/2006 19:54

My sins: I live in trainers. And trainer socks (because they're not warm. I am always too warm). I wear 3/4 length trousers with trainers and trainer socks. I dress DS1 in 3/4 length trousers, too.

morningpaper · 03/06/2006 20:12

I wore a strappy top today

saw myself in mirror in a shop and nearly died

but what to wear that I won't sweat all over? It's so hard in the heat

mil and sil wear foot socks in the same fabric that tights are made out of, with sandals, and usually a corn plaster will feature in the ensemble somewhere. I am gradually eductaing MIL.

Gingerbear · 03/06/2006 20:22
