Good morning all :) Hope that wasn't too loud for you, Marsha and Shop Wink

Haven't popped in for a long time now as v busy with my course. Working towards our final exhibition. I've finished making all the clothes, just the art work to complete now. Really excited about it all and can't wait to see reactions to the show. I am also looking forward to spending exhibition week wearing some fabulous outfits, having spent the last two months schlepping around college in jeans & tees. Screen printing, dyeing and hours on your knees draping on the stand do not sit well with dress & heels!

Shop interesting to read about your new JBrand cargo trousers. I have a Marc Jacobs version which have been languishing in my "unlikely to ever wear: eBay/charity shop pile" for 2 years now. Perhaps it is time to dig them out. I think my issue is that I wore them in the 90s and also that the fabric is a bit stiff so I feel a bit "GI Jane" in them. What do you think to flip flops/Hasbeens, a slouchy tee, gold pendant and plenty of bracelets? Or should I eBay them and find a softer pair?

Foxy - I am eyeing up that Boden Acne-esque jumper in green too. Did you manage to persuade DH to go to TK Maxx yesterday for the Marant-alike?

Looking forward to receiving my bargainous Swedish Hasbeens - the discount code BETTY gives 40% on their website. I ordered the Ornament low heels in vintage blue. Amber - let me know how you get on with the Papillons.

Enjoy your Sunday :)

Wow, I can't keep up and work out what's going on!!! (deliberate use of !)

We've had a busy few days with a friend and her dc staying and then hosted a BBQ yesterday so I've only had time to lurk occasionally. Dh and I were so tired on Friday that we even cancelled our night out!! So the jaegar top remains unworn but at least thanks to the weather I wore the new sandals yesterday and I'm going to wear the havs today. Hurrah for the sun at last!

shop hope your head isn't too bad this morning!!

novice your situation sounds very stressful. Glad you've had a chance to relax at the weekend.

Oh God it hurts!
Up since 6.30 and DH wants to go to the seaside! Must get it together.
Waves at Ujjayi glad all going well. Love the sound of the cargo pants outfit but YY to softness. That's what makes them for me.

There are pointed leopard flats in the Boden preview. Madewell, your time is up. Am going to have to order to check em out in the flesh.

Beautiful here today, I am drinking coffee pre-yoga and then we'll go out somewhere. Might wear maxi dress and new j crew jacket. Am also angling for meal out later with DCs so can crack out the DvF flats!! (Love a !!!)

Shop - you poor thing. Still, the sea air will do you the world of good Smile

Sitting in the sun already but there is still a slight chill so wearing aqua skinnies rolled at the ankle with crushed linen peasant top & new turqoise pendant from Accessorize - bought because the colour reminds me of Greek island seas Smile

Morning everyone. Not feeling too bad (yet) sitting in the lovely sunshine.

Ujjayi lovely to see you. The exhibition sounds fabulous. Do you do a runway thing too?

Foxy what did you decide on the jeans? I fear I may have put you off when they could be really good.

It was a fun night, lots of dancing, a great time with lovely friends. We'll have to think of an excuse to dress up that much together soon. Grin

They sold out. I figure I didn't want them enough if I didn't press buy. If it wasn't £30 to return I would have given them a shot.

Thanks Drywhite. Am channelling Spring in Ibiza/Matthew Williamson hippy chic Wink

Marsha - glad you had fun. Sounds like a great night. Yes, am doing runway show too. For one outfit I've gone very theatrical haute couture in a McQueen/Galliano at Dior vibe: oversized kimono cropped jacket from recycled silk sari, full-on silk taffeta hitched skirt with intricate beading (6 hours of work for a 15cm patch!) and a cropped bandeau. My design is also being considered to feature in a campaign by a major beauty retailer.....they've already viewed my work and made positive noises so fingers crossed.

The other pieces are 1930s bohemian : backless bias cut blush silk dress with beading, applique and hand-painted detail and a cropped waistcoat/bolero.

That sounds utterly gorgeous Ujjayi and how exciting about the campaign! Fantastic!

Good morning all!

Shop and Marsha glad you both had such a great time!Smile

Ujjayi, that sounds fabulous.

Happy well done you. Envy

Dh and I are going to be like ships that pass in the night for the next few weeks. He's leaving tonight for the Far East, back on Friday. I then fly off on Saturday for a few days, I am back for a few days and then off again for a few days. I get back and then he flies off for a few days. I am exhausted just writing that!Grin So the really bad news is he won't be here to support me on this work thing and I hate it when we aren't together, the only slight good news is that when my Selfridges haul arrives on Monday he won't be hereGrinGrinGrin.

How exciting Ujjayi - are you showing at GFW? Am going on Wednesday - really looking forward to seeing the designs!

Went to car boot sale - no Issa today, sadly. Haven't bought much lately, apart from a 3.1 Phillip Lim-esque Monochrome clutch from Next, a lime statement necklace (also next), the white Hasbeens and the Wang skirt. Ok, maybe I've bought a bit. Saving my thunder and cash for the sales though.

Have decided I need a swishy maxi skirt - how is the Splendid one Santa? I want a bit of volume in the skirt.

Am definitely going to order the pink desert boots from the Boden preview. I LOVE them. May get the green waffle knit too.

Am sad because my snakeskin gladiator sandals broke this morning. Am going to try and glue them, but they have been glued so many times...

Novice your job sounds so exciting! Try not to lose your sparkle though!

marsha how's your head? And shop?

Could someone please link how to see the Boden autumn preview online or is it a brochure?
My head is bad but, having teenagers who tell you exactly what you did/said is ten times worse. I'm v Blush today vvvvvv Blush and perhaps need to name change to "water please".

Ujjayi how exciting and your dress sounds amazing.is there a way we could have a pic after the show?

Ujjayi · 02/06/2013 12:39

Novice hope things improve on the work front. It's horrid feeling pressured to put your name to something which really isn't your own. You and DH sound ridiculously busy. On the plus side, time should fly by - will you and DH arrange a treat for yourselves after it all?

Amber I love the colour of those boots too. Am also maxi skirt hinting having failed to find a dress. Have fun at LGFW. I'm hoping to make it on weds too - depends how well the artwork goes monday & tuesday! Not showing there myself....yet. I am torn between accepting my uni place (offers from St Martins & Northampton) and jumping straight in to starting my own label. My lecturers all think I am ready bar some fine tuning with pattern cutting which I can study on short courses at St Martins. Also because I have a degree I don't qualify for a student loan. We have the money for the course but I keep thinking that I would rather invest £30k straight into a business. I'm 42 so that would make me 46 on graduation.....plus if Dame Viv can do it without a degree (and coincidentally also started in her 40s!)...! Basically I have 4 days to decide.

Drywhite - tis indeed rather shameful to have teens regale you with tales of your own drunken behaviour. Luckily my DCs have mostly been too young to witness!

Boden preview here Dry. I am avoiding looking as I know I will order 300 things, every single one of which will be wrong. Boden is not right for my style, no matter how edgy they claim any given season will be.

Am looking somewhat homeless today as the weird windy/hot/freezing weather has thrown me entirely so have thick M&S cardigan layered on over old vest top and tube skirt. Classy.

Ujjayi hard choice! I'm sure whichever you decide will be brilliant, but not an easy one to make.

Hello all!

Shop and Marsha, glad you had good, drunken nights. Did you go to the beach, shop?

Ujjayi, hello, am not sure we have been on this thread at the same time. Your collection sounds great. What is gfw though? I get fashion week but can't figure out the g! Am not an expert but based on what you're saying in your post, if your tutors are saying you can be ready to set up on your own with a few more short courses, I would go for it.

Ah novice sounds like a v busy time for you and dh. Hope you are feeling better about your speech now you have just decided to go with x's version. Sometimes removing choice and options makes things easier even if its not your preference.

I liked quite a bit on the Boden preview too. Inc those leopard flats. Have filled a basket but not sure I'll buy. May wait for foxy's review first!

Hopefully what are the hoc styles? Are they listed

Am feeling quite proud of myself. Made it to the seaside (Leigh-on-Sea) and back in one piece, feel infinitely better than earlier and DS and DH have had an ace day too. I wore my red Levi's dress with Havs. Sat on the wall in the sun watching them paddling and digging in the sand.
I called one of the girls who was out last night (my drinking buddy) and she's been sick all day! So I'm obviously still hardcore! Grin
Will catch up on posts but have seen the true extent of Essex glam today - think lashes, colourful maxi dresses, fake nails, spray tans, tiny dogs - lots of overdressed people for a day digging about in the sand. TOWIE has a lot to answer for........

Well done Shop you moved further than I did! I just made it to the garden.

Novice very full on month. You are a star. Looking forward to hearing all about the big Selfridges order and try on, how exciting!

Amber love these pink Boden chelsea boots. And Foxy's green waffle knit and leopard flats sound great. They must be upping their game, they have a very loyal audience so why not shift a bit towards fashion / design. I'd say J Crew is a great way for them to go as you say Grumpy.

Ujjayi would love to see pics sounds fantastic! Such a hard one, you are pretty much there and there is a buzz around your collection so it might make sense to capitalise on it. I was in the same position 8 years ago with a big name London school and they said I didn't need it but I was sort of keen on the name and connections. Anyway will pm you, might be helpful!

MrsR I think it's Graduate LFW.

That's lovely Santa.
