Yep, they are great Cosi!
SOTD Coco by Chanel on a chilly winter day.

Inspired by this thread have just ordered my first samples, four Tauer ones. Sprayed L'air du desert Maroc about an hour ago and am just getting the mid floral notes. It definitely does smell warm and dry like a spice market. Don't know if it something l could wear every day but am fascinated by it.

I left it too late to buy Artisan Parfumeur's "Tea for Two". I was going to get it as a New YEar treat ... and waited ... and waited ... and now it's gone from the UK web page.

Please someone - console me that it's horrid really ...

... and I'm wearing "Chant de Bois" by Anthropolgie/Le Labo. It's pretty much down to the last few millimeters but the disappointment of the "Tea for Two" disaster called for desperate remedies ...

Cat a friend who a hardcore perfumista got a major allergic reaction from Tea for Two. It's a love hate perfume, more chai than tea, set up your eBay search, you'll find something eventually! People get carried away at sales and someone will regret their purchase OGs are lovely though!

Stokey great that you took the plunge! Tell us what you like and what you don't, Tauers are love/hate too!

Hello I've often made rash purchases, sometimes you can swap/ sell on if it's really not 'you'. I have a lot of perfumes that I like but do not love, and I'm slowly letting go of them because they never get worn Sad

AA Nerolia Bianca today as well

M & S have all of their Lynn Harris perfumes half price, plus some of their other ranges. I snapped up the cologne one and the Poudree.

Thank you, FrugalFashionista. Smile

And thank you for the half price news, MrsSchadenfreude. I'm a big fan of M and S' new Beauty range.

Evening All. Thanks Mrs Schadenfreude. I hit M&S 20 mins before closing and had a tough time deciding which Lyn Miller to go for (already have Le Cologne). And in retrospect the three bottle coffrets are a brilliant choice - less than £10 in the sale. Great presents!

I didn't go that way in the end, instead dithering between Le Noir and La Rose. Both have a rose/amber thing going on, but with La Rose it's balanced with a green note (galbanum?) and musk to produce something which softens into a tender, fresh and slightly sweet smell (made me think of taste of freshly picked peas!) but with some warmth too. Le Noir is much much dirtier - loads more patchouli and reminds me of Noir de Noir (dark chocolate/rose/(marmite)). Better longevity and silage than La Rose too.

But I went for La Rose in the end. Stupendous deal at £12.50. Fills a hole for me on winter day times. It's distinctive without being shouty and gentle without being girly. Enough warmth from the amber to feel right this time of year too.

And it reminds me really strongly of something in my childhood home. but I haven't figured out yet what that is...

Evening all, I'm cosying up in L'Artisan's Ambre Extreme today. Perfect for this cold, rainy weather.

I have been loving the range of perfume in M&S over the past year and picked up a bottle of Les Senteurs Gourmandes Tendre Madeleine last week, heavily discounted to £9 as it looks like they are going to stop stocking this particular range. Also bought some Rochas Tocade before the old bottle and formula disappear!

It's a bit sad that M&S got a great niche perfumer to do a line for them that ends up in the bargain bin. Somehow they have a knack of taking something upscale and morphing it to dimestore material even though there seems to be nothing wrong with the product itself. Serious branding and image problems. Miller Harris perfumes used to be featured in the glossies as something very exclusive and covetable. Great for perfumistas though Wink

I've worn Une Rose today but it's too light and summery for a cool day.

Frugal I've found it really surprising how little promotion and advertising has gone into the new products in their beauty range- especially as it's quite a departure for M&S to stock brands other than their own.

At my local store, the beauty dept is tucked away and I'm sure most people wouldn't pick M&S as an immediate choice for skincare or perfume, so not surprising if the products haven't sold that well. I don't know why they haven't moved the beauty products to the front of store, I'm sure people shopping for clothes would still find what they want and perhaps be surprised by some lovely perfumes or products from nuxe or jurlique on their way...

The money off promotions only tend to last for a week or two though so no doubt all the perfumes will be back to full price soon. I have my eye on a few Fragonards and Roger & Gallets but REALLY need to have a no buy spell!

I agree with everyone's comments about M and S' Beauty dept. It's wonderful. I love Les Scenteurs Gourmande too. I have about 4 of them Blush which is probably a bit much. In fact, my dd was telling me how much she loves the vanilla bourbon today and yesterday. Bless her.

I missed getting in to M and S today. Drat.

I wish other people had leapt on the Beauty dept - I'm going to be gutted if they reduce the lines. Sad

Gosh yes yes to M&S beauty, it has improved by miles and miles, I love the apvita range, the shampoo has done wonders for my poor sensitive scalp and thinning hair poor me.

Must see if the perfumes are reduced here too, would love La Rose and maybe La Cologne if i can justify two Grin

sotd is the last of my ninfeo mio sample, a summer perfume really but I love it so much, on it went regardless! Must get a full bottle soon.

And M & S stock Filorga skincare range, which is just fabulous. Not cheap, but I was tempted when they had 20% off. I find La Poudree is perfect for this time of year - it's quite cosy, but a little bit dirty too. No baby or face powder scent to it at all. SOTD - I was feeling quite 80s today so went for Choc.

A little bundle of samples from Bloom in Spitalfields arrived this morning - v exciting. Sadly, the first I tried, Olfactive Studio's Flashback, is not so great - initial burst of grapefruit swiftly replaced by boring laundry musk. Quite like to wash it off now, really.

Still, Vero Profumo's Mito voile d'extrait and Rubj extrait, OS's Lumière Blanche, Jovoy's Gardez-Moi and Ann Gerard's Ciel d'Opale and Perle de Mousse to come. :)

Can I join?I wear perfume everyday but have recently been stuck in a rut of wearing the same one.In the past I've always worn an Annick Goutal or Calyx.I've been trying the Miller Harris plus AccaKappa Calycanthus.Love the Calycanthus- its a perfect warm wintry Jasmine( on me at least).Totally disliked La Rose ( too grown up) and it smelt like a very old fashioned perfume(smelt lovely on the dd's aunty though).Have kept the rather bracing Le Cologne for summer.I have also just ordered 3 Roger and Gallets and the Fragonard miniature sets.Do any of you do perfume swops?I have 3 bottles of perfume minus one spray that I will never use.

Tea for two turned far too sweet on me, I had a bottle and gave it away.
If you want smoky though, CdG Tea is just that - I think the Tea in question is Lapsang Souchong and it's very very smoky.
You can layer it with something vanilla-y.

Report
OneLittleLady · 12/02/2014 16:52

I love the smell of lapsang Souchong.

I'm still not really wearing any scents, I think I'm just bored of all the florals I've got, I want something a bit darker I think

Well, that's a lot darker.
Even compared to Tea for two.

Interesting one to try though.

And I have been wearing Eau Claire des Merveilles almost non stop, it's very comforting.
Also a bit of Ete en Douce, mine's the old version though, when it was still called Extrait de Songe.
Pretty floral with some hay and beeswax.

Thanks for the recommendation, coffeeinbed. I'm still sad about the T for T, though. I love Olivia Giacobetti's perfumes so much and that was one I hadn't tried. I was utterly sure I'd love it too (especially since I love Lapsang Smile) and now I suppose I'll never know. Oh well.

On a happier note, I followed the advice on here and looked at M and S on-line. As you have all said, the perfume is reduced! Yay! But they have run out of "La Poudree" - boo! I like L.P. and sprayed my scarf with it liberally last time I was in the store - it really is powdery and delicious. I have compensated with "La Rose" and a Roger and Gallet. Smile
