New thread for a new month! Everyone is doing so well, we are forming some great habits and, hopefully, feeling better for it.

some good links:

Its also worth joining groups like wowcher and Groupon for discount manicures etc.

Baby steps are the way forward, and if you fall off the wagon and have a pj day (or week) its ok, just jump back on. We want to take more pride in our appearance, make an effort. As one poster said, "we think there's no point making an effort if we are just at home with our DP's and DC's, but they are the most important people in our lives - why not act like it?" I certainly feel better, my self-esteem is higher and I have more confidence.

All welcome.

Poor you Trampy, it is horrible being ill but even worse when you haven't got a diagnosis. I have quite severe asthma (and have to hang out in respiratory clinic with lots of old dears wheeling their oxygen tanks) and although it is pretty well controlled now I had a couple of years where they were experimenting with meds and I was all over the place.

My nails are awful too Ambassador, I think the Shellac has killed them. Very short at the moment.

I have decided that tonight is going to be Fabulizing night. I am going to dye my hair, tidy up my eyebrows, do a face scrub and mask, use body scrub and moisturise - possibly with a hint of a tan moisturiser just incase the arctic conditions disappear and I need to get my legs out over Easter.

Have ordered the cardis with the last of my birthday money.

TrampyPaterNoster · 22/03/2013 11:51

Thanks, jemima. I could cope with a diagnosis. Even a shit one. But I'm fed up of being in pain without having a goal, or something tangible. Meh.

Anyhoo, enjoy your fabulizing night. Are you leaving your nails clear for a while?

JemimaMuddledUp · 22/03/2013 14:12

How are you feeling today Trampy?

My nails have still got the clear bit of the French Shellac on Blush The white tips have gone because they split and chipped, and I have cut and filed my nails really short. But as I can't get an appt to have them soaked off due to being stupidly busy with kids' stuff and work I haven't had them taken off yet. I think I am going to buy some acetone in the chemist's tomorrow and soak them off myself at home.

I have got this Avon Gel Strength stuff and am going to put that on on its own for a few days after soaking the Shellac off, then hopefully my nails will be strong enough for some colour by Easter weekend.

I am so fed up of this cold weather. I have lots and lots of lovely spring clothes and very few winter clothes that fit me, but it is too cold to wear any of the new stuff! DS1 has a choir competition tomorrow and I was planning on wearing skinny jeans, leopard ballet flats, a plain black top and a black jersey blazer but there is no way that I will be warm enough if I do. Even if I replace the ballet flats with shoe boots and wear a scarf I will be too cold without a big coat over the top, and I am sick of covering up nice clothes with big coats. I am also sick of having to wear a hood and a hat because it is too windy for an umbrella and then messing my hair up Sad

TrampyPanterNoster · 22/03/2013 15:49

pretty shitty tbh, got drenched by a twunt who swerved into a puddle this morning. I am displeased.

I didnt think you could remove shellac yourself, itts one of the things that puts me off, tbh. IKWYM about the weather, ridiculous. I want to wear my pretty, lovely clothes. not bloody jumpers.

JemimaMuddledUp · 22/03/2013 19:46

Sad I hope you have a better day tomorrow.

I was delighted to hear that DS1's hockey tournament had been cancelled this evening, and so I didn't have to spend three hours standing in an icy hurricane. So I got to start my pampering early! Have coloured my hair and done my eyebrows, face scrub and mask. Am just consuming some wine and chocolate before heading for the bath Grin

You can take Shellac off at home as long as you use acetone nail varnish remover. You soak it until it starts to peel then use an orange stick to ease it off.

I think I am going to compromise tomorrow by wearing skinny jeans, black heeled shoe boots and a black scoop neck top with a leopard print scarf then wearing a wool coat over the top in the morning when I am going to be out in town and switching to the jersey blazer for the afternoon when I will be inside at the Eisteddfod. I just hope the wind has died down a bit so that it doesn't ruin my hair

JemimaMuddledUp · 23/03/2013 14:06

Oh I have to come on here and share my productive day! Grin

It started off badly - snow meant that football this morning and the Eisteddfod this afternoon were cancelled. However this meant I had time to kill in town while DS2 was in his drama group. So I went shopping Grin

I went to Dorothy Perkins, where they still have loads of sale stuff. Bought this jumper reduced from £29.50 to £16 and two woven belts, one tan and one gold, reduced from £6 to £3. Then I went to M&Co and bought these coloured jeans (I know! Colour!) reduced from £24 to £12. I picked up the denim dress from New Look but it was tiny so it is going back. I ordered a 14 and there is no way I am ordering a size 16 instead when everything else that I have bought recently has been a 12.

I bought some acetone from Superdrug and have just taken my Shellac off. I also bought two NYC nail varnishes for £2.99 - a putty colour and a bright orange.

I hope everyone else is having a Fabulized day too Grin

TrampyPanterNoster · 23/03/2013 15:17

ooh, Jemima, well done. all very productive. Yay for colour!!! Grin how much snow have you? We are pretty much snowed in. DS and I are on the sofa under a duvet watching telly, well he is, I'm writing.

Today I am in burgundy cords, a cream fine knit top with a cream and brown striped fine knit cardy over the top and my leopard print scarf (my blog post is about scarves today) the nail envy seems to be working beautifully and I used an oil treatment on my hair last night, which has made my hair lovely and silky. But no bugger will see it.

JemimaMuddledUp · 23/03/2013 16:00

We live in a valley and the road into town is gritted so it isn't too bad. But the surrounding hills are quite bad, and the road into town was closed at one point as a lorry had jack-knifed. The Eisteddfod was supposed to be held in a village south-east of here, so further inland, and they are completely snowed in. Town was dead this morning so I'm guessing a lot of people are stuck at home because of it. Even the Next sale was quiet!

I have just painted my nails this colour

Hurrah for shiny nails and hair, even if nobody will see it Sad

You know I'm going to have to have a look at your blog now if you are talking about my specialist subject scarves Grin

TrampyPanterNoster · 23/03/2013 16:17

ooh, I'm sure the Eisteddfod is quite near us, the weather is similar here. Luckily the village is on the main road to mid-wales so the gritters take good care of it. ds and I were going to pop into town, but daren't risk it, esp since we dont drive. love the nail colour, btw!

and, take a look, its up now Grin address is on my profile

JemimaMuddledUp · 23/03/2013 16:32

The one that we were going to is the county Urdd one, in Pontrhydfendigaid. But we will be up nearer to you in Llangollen in the summer.

Just looked at your scarf blog post. I am wearing my leopard print scarf today too. I love the blue scarf with the different birds on and the green zebra one.

TrampyPanterNoster · 23/03/2013 16:38

ah, that was the one I was thinking of. theres one is llanidloes too, iirc.

and thank you, I have found a zillion that I Need. the blue scarf one was only a fiver from [http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00ABJS42G/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1[ Amazon]] I love it, it'll look great in the summer with my red cropped jacket. I am such a tightwad. Have you seen the Celia Birtwell collection at Uniqlo? the stoles/scarves are lush!

TrampyPanterNoster · 23/03/2013 16:39

feck here

JemimaMuddledUp · 24/03/2013 14:43

I'm not hugely keen on the Celia Birtwell scarves, but I like the tote bags. I'm tempted to get that bird scarf though.

Today I am wearing straight leg jeans, denim shirt, fox sweater and Converse High Tops. Plus a black swing coat when I go out as it is still freezing cold!

Are you still snowed in Trampy?

Engelsemama · 24/03/2013 18:27

Evening fabulizers. Flue is finally history so can start looking gorgeous again and paying attention to what I wear and grooming. Tomorrow is a home day but I will be wearing something lovely and put some slap on!

Good to be back.

JemimaMuddledUp · 24/03/2013 20:15

Hurrah for the flu being history Engels!

It is still snowing here, and having just watched the weather forecast it seems likely to stay cold all week with more heavy snow by Friday. I am so fed up with wearing jumpers and boots! And it is too cold to run so I am stuck inside on my stationary bike to make amends for the winter stodge I keep eating...

I am living vicariously through Pinterest, admiring summer dresses and sandals.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 25/03/2013 13:26

Hey all Smile

Well as usual its bloody cold here, snowing on and off. Its really getting on my nerves now... Today Im in black jeggings, black and grey jumper dress Grin (can I say though that Id no longer wear it when out and about unless covered - today its purely for warmth) and grey cardy. I feel drowsy and crap. I appeared to have cricked my neck as I got up this morning and I cant turn my head to the right, it really hurts and its making things very difficult!

Today is the 2nd day of using the neutragena blackhead eliminating scrub, and Im really pleased with it - I noticed a difference after using it for the first time yesterday. Blackheads have been a prob for me for years and Id tried allsorts. Have a different scrub that Ive used for ages but obv no good, so reckon tonight I'll finish it off in the shower on my thighs Blush

Im having a skinny jean dilemma. On sat when getting ready to go out for the evening I had a meltdown and slung out pairs of jeans that were too long, too tight, hadnt been worn. You know when you keep something in the hope that you'll fit in them at some point, or maybe you'll be able to sort them out etc? Well Id had enough and so they went. Im feeling terribly guilty today as I hate getting rid of stuff. Anyway I need help finding some good jeans!

We've been here before I know - I bought a pair of the leigh topshop jeans in black. Bought a 10 (my size - didnt size down or anything) and I love how soft and comfy they are, however Im convincing myself I look like a moron in them Hmm Id tried on various pairs and was happy with them but Im lacking the confidence to wear them - skinny jeans back in the day were a lot more uncomfortable, thicker material, more rigid and I think its confusing me a bit.... Confused am I making any sense? Id like to go back to get them in grey but my thighs.... sigh.

Newlook jeans are no good, Ive tried so many of them. Nor Oasis, nor h an m. I dont think I could beat the topshop ones for comfort but Im concerned I'll get laughed at in the street Blush

Sorry huge post, hope you're all doing ok xx

JemimaMuddledUp · 25/03/2013 16:56

Cold, cold, cold, cold...

Today I am wearing skinny jeans, black scoop neck top, black cable knit roll neck poncho and black flat knee high boots. I am still cold.

If the Topshop jeans fit you well then wear them! You are a size 10, I'm sure your thighs can't be that bad!

TrampyPanterNoster · 25/03/2013 17:16

afternoon all!

Engels, I'm so glad that the flu has finally subsided!

Guy, I agree with Jemima, wear the jeans if they are comfy, I'm sure you look great in them. good on you for having a clear out though, its lovely, isnt it?

Jemima, I'm sick of the cold too. We have a christening next month and my uncle's funeral on Thursday. All I can think is "bloody hell, I'm going to freeze!"

Todays outfit skinny khaki cords, navy sweatshirt and a brown stripey top underneath. and wellies. bloody wellies. I have spent the afternoon dusting and sorting my dressing table off, so it looks far better.

JemimaMuddledUp · 25/03/2013 18:04

My Next sale order just came. The couple of tops that I ordered weren't great, so they are going back. The tan wedge boots though look nice, are comfy and were a bargain at £16 - but I'm not sure that I need another pair of shoes Grin

Off now to repaint my nails, they have chipped in work.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 25/03/2013 18:47

Well thats what dh says too.... Im sure Im seeing something else when I look in the mirror Hmm

Trampy - Im sure I'll appreciate the clear out once the guilt has subsided!

Jemima - of course you need them Grin

I really want a pair of those ash wedge trainers Blush really cant justify that price tho!

Hoping my neck is better tomorrow, I need to get back on the running. When is this cold weather going to leave us?!

cjbk1 · 25/03/2013 18:53

strange few days for me; went to an Easter egg hunt in the snow yesterday may out the school had baby in carrier accessorised with pashmina lol still freezing and had to wear a kids skull and cross bones wooly hat as cldnt find mine...
some time recently think baby threw her head back and banged above my
eyebrow it really hurts and makes me feel unlike ever touching my eyebrows again lol wince...
made an effort today but middle one was 'physically ill' on me so (obv got changed) just
want to get pjs on...
take care all x

DewDr0p · 25/03/2013 18:59

Guy have you tried them on with boots/shoes? I tried on some skinnies last week and they were a bit meh barefoot but put them with my new ankle boots last night and hey presto they looked loads better. Also I find different tops make a difference.

Today I'm wearing dark blue skinnies, pale grey and red/orange striped John Smedley sweater (from the outlet store) and a fitted navy blue boyfriend cardigan and I'm still freezing too lol.

Bought these boots from office (although mine have a black heel so actually even better) and I am totally in love with them but can't wear them until the snow melts! Sad

JemimaMuddledUp · 25/03/2013 19:14

This boots are really nice DewDrOp. I really must stop seeing footwear I want though... New Look have some Ash Wedge copies that are much cheaper than the real thing Guy, might be worth a look? They are a bit Marmite aren't they, I'm not sure that I'm keen. Possibly not helped by the fact that I have only really seen them on women aged 50+ around here!

Have painted my nails a pale pink colour (Avon <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.allurabeauty.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Avon-Ballerina-Swatch-Allura.jpg&imgrefurl=www.allurabeauty.com/2011/avon-nail-polish-swatches/&h=1026&w=1024&sz=159&tbnid=rmlMCNFD9f_H3M:&tbnh=90&tbnw=90&zoom=1&usg=__Nw2mEhWb5HECgA24QdjMfWiQbb4=&docid=PxR2HjsAAOhz4M&sa=X&ei=-qBQUe69KYaP0AWJl4D4Cg&ved=0CDIQ9QEwAA&dur=671" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Ballerina ) in the hope that if they chip again in work it won't show as badly as on a darker colour. Mind you, only two more days till we break up for the holidays Grin Grin Grin

Going straight from work tomorrow to a meal out with colleagues. No idea what to wear as I haven't really got time to change so it will need to be practical for work too. But I want to look nice as there is a new student on placement with us who is 22, blonde, 5'10, a size 8 and fashion obsessed. Doesn't half make me feel frumpy!

GuyMartinsSideburns · 26/03/2013 07:56

They are definitely marmite lol Grin To be honest I live in flats, always. Ive got a pair of rocket dog wedge boots and I think Ive worn them once Blush I remember walking through town in them, being soooo glad when I got to the car and the bliss when I took them off. Guess it depends on the height of the wedge. Im in town on fri so I'll have a look around.

Well my neck is still painful so yet another morning where I didnt get my trainers on Sad Have a great day everyone.

TrampyPanterNoster · 26/03/2013 09:50

Jemima, I love those boots, they are gorgeous. promise me you'll keep them to wear with your coloured skinnies Wink That nail colour is lovely, I have a nude that I wear when I dont want to take it off after a day. Enjoy your night out, I'm sure you look better than the 22yo, women look better as they get older and develop a sense of style.

Guy, I love the Ash/wedge trainers too. I have a pair of burgundy chinos that I know would look awesome with them. I think they just look funkier and edgier than normal trainers. I am saving up for some. Hope your neck gets better soon Sad

cj, you've had a rough few days!! It's so cold, isn't it? and the bugs seem relentless.

Dewdrop, those boots are fab! they'd look great with a mini and woolly tights too.

Last night I painted my nails cobalt blue, and I love it. it just looks so bloody happy. The snow is finally melting (ready for the next lot) I sorted out my dressing table yesterday and that looks a lot better, so today I am wearing proper make up, with mascara, blusher and powder. I feel so much better for it. my joints are killing today though, so am having a quieter day. might sort out my clothes a bit, H&M are giving £5 vouchers for your old clothes - BONUS!

todays outfit - indigo skinnies, brown biker boots, grey striped l/s tee with a cream 3/4 sleeve loose jumper over the top. My hairdryer blew up the other day, I was hoping that my new one would come today, but it hasnt Sad
