New thread for a new month! Everyone is doing so well, we are forming some great habits and, hopefully, feeling better for it.

some good links:

How To Be Groomed thread

Discount Make-up and Toiletries
Cheap Smells
Fragrance Direct
Xtras Online
Look Fantastic

Its also worth joining groups like wowcher and Groupon for discount manicures etc.

Baby steps are the way forward, and if you fall off the wagon and have a pj day (or week) its ok, just jump back on. We want to take more pride in our appearance, make an effort. As one poster said, "we think there's no point making an effort if we are just at home with our DP's and DC's, but they are the most important people in our lives - why not act like it?" I certainly feel better, my self-esteem is higher and I have more confidence.

All welcome.

Happy Fabulizing Dahhlinks

Hello all, trampypants here!

Hope you are all well.

My eyebrows are very dark, I don't get the HD trend at all, I like my brow to be tidy, not sculpted.

Jemima, how did it go?

Guy, I'd love to get my lashes dyed.

All quite slobby here. Dh and I have been doing to the house, so no fabulizing beyond the basics.

JemimaMuddledUp · 14/03/2013 21:01

The results are confidential until they are published next month, but I am allowed to say that we are very pleased with them Grin

I am exhausted today and am slobbing it in jeans and a hoodie. I have been playing with Pinterest and Polyvore though, and decided that I wanted a denim shirt dress to wear once the weather gets warmer. I thought about this one as it is on sale and I have a £20 DP voucher burning a hole in my pocket, but I decided that I didn't like the studs. I then saw this one in New Look and liked it far more so have ordered it.

lissielou · 15/03/2013 12:10

Thats ace Jemima, well done.

I love my denim shirt dress. Its great in the spring, and so comfy.

I have just dyed my hair. I wasn't loving the red, so have gone dark brown. The red still comes through though so it looks more natural. I am, however, pretty scruffy right now. straight jeans, grey sweatshirt and blue hi-tops. We are going out for tea though tonight, to pizza hut and to do a bit of shopping, so I will get changed later. Yesterday I got a bright pink blazer from H&M for a fiver, I love it.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 15/03/2013 18:56

Hi all,

Today I was in grey skinnies, black long sleeved top, orange jumper, black worker boots, green parker (SO pleased I bought that!) and aztec scarf. Then this afternoon the weather decided to pour down so swapped orange jumper for grey cardy, parker for black waterproof coat, worker boots for dm's, and a brolly!

I'm liking the idea of a denim shirt dress, may have to try a few on next wknd. Really need to sort a dye and trim from my friend soon, only she's going through some shit at the moment so it'll keep a bit longer.

Trampy bet your hair looks lovely, and BARGAIN on the blazer! Jemima the newlook dress is fab, hope it fits well. I'm still waiting on a pair of black shorts from h an m to be delivered. Tomorrow I fancy a mooch around the pound shop Blush

Have a lovely evening everyone, I'm knackered so planning an early night with my book hardcore emoticon

GuyMartinsSideburns · 15/03/2013 18:57

Gah excuse the bold. THAT'S how tired I am Grin

twinklestar2 · 15/03/2013 22:47

I've been a bit slack recently and my skin feels it. I haven't been doing my evening baths and body lotion. Will revive them from Monday.

I haven't been sticking to my diet either.

I've basically been slack all round but back to it now I promise!

Engelsemama · 16/03/2013 07:49

I am still lurking with the lurgy ladies, but will be back to fabulize once the flu has passed.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 16/03/2013 10:50

Hope you feel better soon Engels Smile

Twinkle - I havent been body moisturising, really dont like slapping on cold lotions when Im cold enough lol Im considering a nice oil that I can rub in straight out of the shower/bath. I know people swear by baby oil but I dont like it. Any recommendations anyone?

Can I de-rail the thread again? Blush I want to talk about facebook... I realised that I was spending far far too much time on it, wondering what others were up to rather than concentrating on my own life. Being an introvert and a stay at home mum meant it was all too easy to spend time on there, letting it distract me from things I could be doing - sorting the driving, going running, for walks, decorating the house etc. Also its just full of people going 'omg my life is SOOOOO amazing' and Im like Hmm cos surely if it was you wouldnt be on facebook. Anyway Im rambling (quick disclaimer - Im sure others manage to use fb accounts appropriately and dont let it get in the way of real life.) So yesterday I swapped details with 2 'real' friends that Id made and would miss, and we're going to keep in touch so Im happy with that. Its just that today I already feel strange (I deleted it all last night) like Im missing out or something, though I know Im not. I know it was the right thing to do, but can someone tell me that please Grin

Ive cleaned the house already this morning, including steaming the floors Shock, and painted my nails (yellow, fyi!) and had a tea party with dd and her collection of beanie boos Hmm So its a case of doing more things with the time I'll now have, it really was getting silly.

Orange jumper, black top, grey skinnies, hair up, makeup looking lovely. Hope you all have a great day people xx

JemimaMuddledUp · 16/03/2013 15:37

Get well soon Engels!

Hope you are feeling a bit less tired now Guy and good luck with the FB avoidance. I know what you mean though, although I try to avoid my newsfeed and stick to the couple of closed groups that I go on.

It is freezing cold here today and is snowing again. As the day has involved a lot of being outdoors (footy match for DS1 and riding lesson for DD) I am dressed for warmth rather than style. I am wearing straight leg jeans (bought yesterday in DP with my birthday voucher), a black scoop neck l/s top and a black cable roll neck poncho. When I was outside I was wearing a big coat, 2 pairs of socks, wellies and a hat and gloves Grin

Shellac is chipping again, am beginning to think that the first lot weakened my nails and now they are just peeling. At least as it is French it doesn't show too badly. I haven't got time to go and get them soaked off at the moment, but am contemplating buying some acetone nail varnish remover and doing it myself.

JemimaMuddledUp · 16/03/2013 17:48

Right, I have decided to do a wardrobe audit. I have bought lots of stuff over the past couple of months after losing weight, and I think what I have bought works together quite well to create lots of different outfits. But can you have a read through it and see if you think there is anything else glaringly obvious that I need?

I own:
straight leg jeans
bootcut jeans (not trendy, but flattering)
skinny jeans
black trousers
black leggings
black scoop neck l/s tops x 2
breton tops x 3 (navy and white, charcoal and white, blue and white)
denim shirt
black vest tops x 3
purple plaid shirt
black and white striped tunic
black jersey blazer
purple fair isle cardi
black short cardi
black fine knit long cardi
grey boyfriend cardi with elbow patches
black cable knit roll neck poncho
grey oversized roll neck jumper
black gilet
grey varsity hoody
purple and black print wrap dress
black baroque print maxi dress
black and white striped dress
lots of scarves (including elephant, leopard, zebra, swallow, robin and butterfly prints)
lots of shoes (including converse, leopard ballet flats, brown suede chelsea boots, black knee high biker boots, black courts, black heeled shoe boots and gold strappy sandals)
smart black wool coat
practical black waterproof coat
running/gym clothes

I have ordered a denim shirt dress, and would also like a denim skirt and a couple more short sleeved tops for summer.

Is there anything else that you think I actually need, or should I stop shopping now?

JemimaMuddledUp · 16/03/2013 21:29

Oh, I forgot my mustard fine knit cable sweater.

TrampyPants · 17/03/2013 10:58

I would add in a couple of brights, tbh. a bright blazer to wear over a black or grey top, or a bright top to wear under a grey or black cardy.

OP posts:
bleedingheart · 17/03/2013 13:19

Agree with Trampy. A nice red or cobalt top would be a good addition

bleedingheart · 17/03/2013 13:19

Or neon if you are feeling brave!

TrampyPants · 17/03/2013 13:32

oooh, yy to cobalt! not too scary, but still nice and bright. lush!

OP posts:
JemimaMuddledUp · 17/03/2013 19:36

Neon scares me!

In fact most bright colours scare me. Maybe I need to be braver.

TrampyPants · 17/03/2013 19:48

how about something like this? or this

OP posts:
TrampyPants · 17/03/2013 19:52

this is cute

OP posts:
cjbk1 · 18/03/2013 21:06

I love cobalt, iv got a cobalt topshop tunic with buttons down the back iv had it at least four years and I wear it weekly but royal blue does horrible things to my skin colour...I also like bright pink but anything 'cutesy' is cringey on me..meant to say dc's got me a nice fat face scarf for Mother's Day it's an unbleached cotton colour with blue edging I'm not really selling it am I?

JemimaMuddledUp · 20/03/2013 13:50

Sorry, have been AWOL again - life keeps getting in the way of my Mumsnetting! Grin

I have been perusing the Next sale preview, listing things that I'd like. Guaranteed by the time my slot comes round tomorrow night everything I want will have sold out, but it is worth a try! I fancy a quilted jacket, I know they are a bit mumsy but they are really popular here (rural area) and I have seen a lot of people looking really nice in them. I also fancy some coloured skinnies and some chinos. Possibly a grey blazer too...

TrampyPants · 21/03/2013 20:37

how's everyone doing? sorry I've been AWOL, have had my consultant and things have been a bit manic.

OP posts:
JemimaMuddledUp · 21/03/2013 21:01

How did it go with the consultant Trampy?

Next sale was rubbish, most things that I wanted, including the jacket, were out of stock. Did get myself some tan wedge ankle boots though.

Picking my denim shirt dress up from New Look tomorrow, am really hoping it fits nicely. I have a lot of trouble getting things to fit over my boobs without being too big everywhere else. At least with a shirt dress I can wear a vest top underneath and leave the top few buttons undone if it is a bit snug.

I am thinking about getting a bright blue cardi and a bright red cardi that are on offer in Debenhams at the moment. I like cardis, and they would brighten my wardrobe up a bit.

Ambassadoryouarespoilingme · 21/03/2013 21:01

Hello everyone
Sorry its been a while that I haven't chatted on here. Work is seriously getting in the way of fun stuff. Today I wore my favourite Monsoon blue trousers and blue silk batwing sleeve top, with knee high boots and an ancient but beloved grey coat. But then someone in the office decided by trousers looked too much like jeans (they do have back pockets) so i guess that is the last time I can get away with that!
I've kept up with the nail care, but broke one off cleaning the kitchen last night, so now they are all short and horrible again.
Ah well. Am trying not to buy anything or spend money on frivolities, so no exciting purchases to declare.
HOpe you are all feeling fab.

TrampyPaterNoster · 21/03/2013 21:12

Jemima, I have a similar problem, always wear vests under blouses/shirts and undo a few buttons, keeps the puppies under control, I would get the cardies tbh, a bit of colour can only be good.

Consultant was a bit crap, tbh. they no longer think I have arthritis

TrampyPaterNoster · 21/03/2013 21:15

oops, they no longer think I have arthritis, but dont really know what it is. My ribs are far too swollen and they are leaning toward severe fibromyalgia right now. I had a steroid injection, and have a new set of drugs to take, they have changed my anti-inflamms and upped my painkillers. so I am a walking chemical fog.

Ambassador, did they actually complain? Shock are you using any treatments on your nails? Ive just got Opi nail envy and it feels nice so far.
