New thread for a new month! Everyone is doing so well, we are forming some great habits and, hopefully, feeling better for it.

some good links:

How To Be Groomed thread

Discount Make-up and Toiletries
Cheap Smells
Fragrance Direct
Xtras Online
Look Fantastic

Its also worth joining groups like wowcher and Groupon for discount manicures etc.

Baby steps are the way forward, and if you fall off the wagon and have a pj day (or week) its ok, just jump back on. We want to take more pride in our appearance, make an effort. As one poster said, "we think there's no point making an effort if we are just at home with our DP's and DC's, but they are the most important people in our lives - why not act like it?" I certainly feel better, my self-esteem is higher and I have more confidence.

All welcome.

Happy Fabulizing Dahhlinks

Morning all Smile

Well you lot are lovely, and I really appreciate all of your kind words (esp as its my second go at completely derailing the thread Blush )

Trampy - good to see you back, ouch about the rib though my god that mustve been so painful. I hope you're feeling better today.

Jemima - well done on the weightloss! I get what you mean about friends being odd when you had children, we're the only couple in our 'original' circle of friends that have children. When we had our son I noticed they drifted away - fair enough our priorities changed and we couldnt go to gigs etc anymore. I felt incredibly left behind and it hurt. I now realise that it wasnt us that was left behind, if anything we were the ones that were moving on with our lives. I wish Id realised that sooner but at least its clicked now...

Feelingood - its taken me years to get 'only 6lbs off target' - I couldve sorted my shit out a couple of years ago had I not been such a lazy cow Blush Its been a struggle but only because I let it be one, and gave up at various points etc (you seeing a pattern here regarding motivation? Wink )

Ambassador - I think Im inclined to agree that this 'friend' is very insecure, at first I wasnt sure as she always came across as having her head firmly up her own backside and as being better than everyone else. Was quite hard to 'get' - one minute shes being nice, but then the next she'd slip in a comment that would leave me all 'wtf?' Confused Shes also incredibly judgy - comments on others parenting, how they look, how they talk, really everything. Also full of double standards, and incredibly materialistic.

Im enjoying the fact that now dh is working for himself him and 'friends' dp arent in each others pockets working together, so there is distance. Its like a breath of fresh air.

Today its grey here (whats happened?!) and Im in black jeggings, grey vest top, dark grey cardy (long) BUT also with my denim shirt underneath Grin. Not great but it'll do and the shirt makes a good addition lol Hair and makeup done, nails are nails inc 'spring mews', a light green. Not sure I like it though lol

GuyMartinsSideburns · 06/03/2013 09:45

Ooh Trampy that sounds lovely. And you alter clothes too? I would LOVE to be able to do that. In my dreams I have a spare room with dressmakers dummy and sewing machine etc Grin

TrampyPants · 06/03/2013 09:58

oooh, so she's a jellyfish? you are so much better off without her. and dont worry about derailing!! this is a chat thread, not just about what we wore today. rib was excruciating. It happens frequently. I get a dull ache, then a blinding pain (I threw up, which was nice) and pop out it comes. still, at cons soon. I only do little bits of alterations. things like removing tops of dresses that dont look right. this was one of those 2in1 dresses, which dont suit anyone over the age of 12, so I took off the top and tidied up the waistband. I have also decorated a clutch bag from a charity shop, Im so proud of it, it looks really expensive now.

Just a quick one - MIL has given me an Accessorize voucher for my birthday and I quite fancy this bag. What do you think?

TrampyPants · 07/03/2013 08:12

Jemima, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I love that bag, getit! Did you get lots of goodies?

OP posts:
GuyMartinsSideburns · 07/03/2013 09:25

Issi, how about one of the oversized clutches? You can pop a nappy and a few wipes and bag inside but keep the rest in the pushchair.

OP posts:
JemimaMuddledUp · 07/03/2013 16:08

Thank you Trampy and Guy Smile

I bought the bag this afternoon, it is a little bit plasticky but is nicer than the similar ones in Matalan and M&Co that I saw. Plus I had a voucher for there...

I've had lots of lovely presents - a big bottle of CKOne from DH, a robin print scarf from the DC, a zebra print scarf from my friend, a Dorothy Perkins voucher from another friend, an Accessorize voucher from the inlaws (which paid for the bag), money from my mum (which paid for the leopard skin ballet flats I bought in Clarks last week), wine and smellies from the girls in work.

I went and had my nails redone, had Shellac again but French Manicure this time. Also went and got my fringe trimmed, which is something I am terrible for forgetting to do regularly.

Chinese takeaway tonight Grin

TrampyPants · 07/03/2013 16:51

oooh that all sounds lovely. glad you are having a good day. Forgot to do todays outfit

Khaki skinny cords
l/s striped grey tee
denim shirt over
tan plaited belt
low grey ankle boots.

I've been trying out some make up trends for my blog, and have spent the morning doing my eyes in brights for todays post. I cannot pull off bright eye make up. bright lips are fine, in fact I quite like them, but eyeshadow is a no no. I shall stick to my neutrals, I think!

OP posts:
JemimaMuddledUp · 07/03/2013 17:20

Have had more pressies since the last post - flowers delivered from a friend and a cheese and wine hamper from another friend.

I can't do bright make up at all, I stick very much to neutrals.

Today I am wearing skinny jeans, black flat knee high boots and a grey and white striped l/s top. With a black wool coat and my robin scarf as its cold!

ooh Jemima you lucky thing! I love bright lipstick and nail polish, but the eye make up is a bit Hmm

Issi, sorry about ill kids, how horrible! I love that clutch though, its v pretty. Can you do any fabulizing at night when the dc's are in bed? I love my evenings now.

OP posts:
JemimaMuddledUp · 07/03/2013 20:39

DD has been carrying my bag around all evening and telling everyone she is "high maintenance" Hmm

Hats off to anyone who even attempts to fabulize with babies and toddlers. When mine were that age I looked a right state. I don't always look great now, but at least my DC are old enough to be told to leave me alone while I try to make myself presentable!

Tomorrow's outfit - slim leg jeans, black scoop neck l/s top, my new zebra scarf (which is like this but with a light and mid tan background rather than grey and pink), tan suede chelsea boots and my new tan tote bag. Plus a black wool coat for standing around watching the boys play hockey!

TrampyPants · 07/03/2013 21:01

Grin bless her! I was the same when ds was little. I've never been high maintenance, and when ds was a baby I really let myself slide. A combination of exhaustion and frazzledness left me looking a wreck.
tomorrows outfit sounds great, I love that scarf!

twinklestar2 · 07/03/2013 23:16

happy birthday jemima! i like that bag, its very in, like that Zara bag which i keep seeing and hearing about.

I've been living in my khaki skinnies and flats! And I've lost another pound whoop whoop!

JemimaMuddledUp · 08/03/2013 08:11

Well done on losing another pound twinkle!

I am a long way from high maintenance, its not really a look that works as a nursery teacher... But DH likes to tease me when I get my nails done that I'm turning high maintenance, which is where DD got the phrase from. She is actually about as high maintenance as I am - hates wearing dresses and rides horses when all her friends are doing ballet. Although she does have a penchant for Joules...

So glad its Friday, struggle to get up and ready for work this morning. Am hoping that make up will mask the dark circles...

TrampyPants · 08/03/2013 09:51

Issi, Asos has 10% off today with INTERNATIONAL10. well done on your emergency work.

twinkle, well done!!

Jemima, me too. You can't turn into something you aren't. IKWYM about exhaustion. DH is doing extra shifts at work so the whole running of the house and organising DS has fallen on me. adding in my increased meds and general tiredness and I am so ready for the easter hols!

Today I am wearing my too-big baxters, which are straight/slim rather than skinny, a blue marl sweatshirt from H&M (its so much nicer than the grey) a pink vest peeking out, a bright pink plaited belt and my blue hi-tops. Its funky scruffy rather than trampy scruffy.

I could sleep for a week.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 08/03/2013 11:54

Hello! Well this morning I had to walk into town after the school run on an errand for dh. Im in gap bootcut jeans (theyre a size 12 though so Im wearing them low and enjoying the looseness Grin ) a pale long sleeved top that I dont know the colour of, kind of a dusty pale purple colour, a black short sleeved loose top on top, black boyfriend cardy, aztec print scarf, black wool coat and old purple rocket dogs that have thoroughly given up - I came home with wet feet Blush

I tried on that orange/red skirt YET AGAIN and then bought it Grin Im going to wear it with a loose grey cardy and biker or worker boots I think. Also bought an orange jumper in h an m that was in the sale.

Theres a parker jacket in topshop Ive got my eye on - green, a bit fitted (as usually these coats completely swamp me but it has an inner draw cord so you can adjust the waist somewhat) an elbow patches that I love! Do I bite the bullet or am I too old? Confused I feel I may be in the no mans land between looking fine and dressing too young..... I kinda wanna say 'sod it' and wear what I like but still....

Cut my nails off, they were getting annoying!

TrampyPants · 08/03/2013 15:59

Guy, Grin I'm so glad you bought it. It'll look ace. How old are you? Parka's are funny coats. Are you mourning your rocket dogs?

I have just bought myself some treats for mothers day. This shrug/jacket which will look great for spring/summer over a vest with skinnies and flats and this I have been asked to help out at the school library on a weds (a van comes round) so figured I could wear it then. plus, its nice Grin

OP posts:
GuyMartinsSideburns · 08/03/2013 16:54

I'm almost 31... Its nice, not too baggy or swamping but I'm umming and ahhing about it now

And the skirt - looked SO orange in the shop but looking at it now I've got it home it looks more red. So now I'm in 2 minds whether to keep or return. Gah and just when I'd decided to buy it an go for it!

I am mourning the rocket dogs... I know they're not stylish in the slightest but I walk miles and they were great for that... Especially for all the months when the weather is iffy.

I'm sooo tired lately, what's that all about.

TrampyPants · 08/03/2013 16:58

If you like it, get it shame about the skirt though. what does it look like in natural light? Can you replace the rocket dogs? I had a pair of boots that I loved and wore everywhere. when they died I was genuinely upset.

OP posts:
GuyMartinsSideburns · 08/03/2013 17:10

Well I just tried the skirt on again and when I'm wearing it it looked more orange, I think I did that thing and looked at it too much and confused my eyesight a bit Blush ever do that? Bit like when you go perfume shopping and after a while your nose goes weird....

I usually grab a pair of rocket dogs when they're in the sale and then wear them to death, reckon I get about 18 months or so out of each pair which isn't bad if I've only spent around 35 quid.

Dh says to get the jacket for mothers day but he hasn't seen it lol

TrampyPants · 08/03/2013 17:18

I do that! I love Rocket Dog and Blowfish. I have a pair of Blowfish Moody's which are ace. You probably just scrambled your eyes a bit, I do that too. It properly freaks me out Grin. and if DH says to get it, get it. Happy Mothers Day!! Wink (see, bad influence)
