wow jillian is so motivating. i love it! i did rippedin30 for first time this morning. unfortunately i had to cut it about 5-10 mins short (its hard to tell where you are - i got about 4 mins past the side lunges with weights so not sure where that was)
its the type of workout i like - you don't get bored, she keeps you motivated and moving, a good mix of exercises. true, you have to watch the knee thing. with the jumping lunges i did one leg at a time instead of jumping them through if that makes sense, so as not to hurt myself.
really hoping it makes a difference.

I bought an exercise mat from Amazon which is 15mm thick and really helps with the impact. I have concrete floors under the carpet so need to be careful esp as I have had shin splints from running (not running any more Sad)

Astr0naut · 27/07/2012 13:29

Day 7 for me, but can't see a difference, I'm afraid. I blame breastfeeding. If nothign changes after 30 days, I am going to do nothing until I stop bf - then watch that tummy fat drop off.

DialsMavis · 27/07/2012 13:38

I had Wednesday off as I couldn't get DD to go to bloody bed. I am on level 2 day 5 (I think). Still not losing any weight, the top of my waist is looking good, well better, I think. The bottom of my stomach is still bloody awful, but a lot of that is just skin from EMCS and a 10lb baby. My arms are looking much more toned, but I really don't want them to get any more muscly. My legs look awful though! There are massive muscles on the outer sides of my thighs, they poke out as far as my knees, but the backs and inner thighs are still covered in a hideous layer of fat. I am not even sure if they will feet into my skinny jeans this evening!
I am going to stick with it, as I have faith in Jillian. But I am hoping to get back into healthy BMI soon, as when not shredding I lose a kilo a week when I concentrate on my diet, and I am dieting quite hard.

I know weight isn't everything, but I felt really pleased when I got my BMI under 25. My knees are fine now, I have been doing the knee twisty things when she is chatting the beginning of the warm up.

ladymariner · 27/07/2012 13:41

I love the Shred, and I actually cant believe I've just typed that!!! Totally agree with coconutty, I find Jillian really motivating, even though I'm puffing and gasping for air like an old steam train!!!! And I didn't think I even had ab muscles, how can they possibly hurt so much Grin
About to do Day 6 now......I dread the thought of it but then I do it and I'm dead proud of myself!

chicaguapa · 31/07/2012 13:08

Starting on level 3 tonight at day 20! Yikes!

I don't think I've lost much weight, though I know you can't count it like that. My scales can't make up their mind whether I've lost 4% in fat or not. One day I have, the next I'm back to the beginning. According to my clothes I might be the size I would be if I'd lost around 4lbs. DH says I look better for it anyway.

But I can feel my fitness and stamina improving. I haven't ached much recently so not sure if that means I'm not pushing myself enough, though I can't do the whole thing without stopping? I did the dumbell rows last night with the 5lb weights and could feel it in my arms this morning. But I can't manage the military press and the squats with the V raise with the 2.5lb weights, let alone the 5lb!!

And I've still got my belly, which is disappointing and I haven't lost ANY fat round my middle. So I've ordered Ripped in 30 to start on when I've finished the Shred. I'd kill for a flat stomach again and one of the reviews said she had one. Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/07/2012 17:41

Ok, I'm going to order it and take before and after measurements.

Astr0naut · 31/07/2012 19:40

Just managed day 9 - even though I started it 2 weeks ago. Found day 9 quite easy and am actuaklly managibng proper push ups.

However, it did lead to a poo incident tonight, as I was so busy shredding, with my back to the baby and toddler, that I failed to catch ds dismount the potty - leaving the way open for the baby to pull said potty all over her.

Mindful of Jillian's exhortations not to stop, I carried on lifting weights whilst shouting for dh to come and help!

Wandawingsthe2nd · 04/08/2012 23:49

Ladies?? Are you still shredding??

FrameyMcFrame · 05/08/2012 17:15

I need to get back into this, got 20 days til bikini time and it's not looking good Blush

DialsMavis · 05/08/2012 19:01

Im still shredding although I did have 3 days off this week, it was my birthday and DP got back from working away for 3 weeks so I didn't manage mon, tues or weds. I did thurs fri and sat but dont think I will manage it tonight, it was my party last night and I am still woefully hung over and tired! Blush. Everyone was commenting in how much slimmer I looked last night, which was great Smile

Astr0naut · 05/08/2012 19:08

Not managed since Monday. Family crisis.

I plan on having a go next week, but jumping to level 2 cos I was on day 9 anyway.

FaintingGoat · 06/08/2012 10:12

I had a massive attack of can't-be-arsed. After doing it six times, one day off, one on. I will start again tonight.

QueenMaeve · 06/08/2012 12:00

I haven't shredded since before Easter, but started back this week. Forgot how much I love Jillian Grin

SophieLeGiraffe · 06/08/2012 12:07

I started Shredding last Friday so today is Day11. I missed two days, one to no time, one to general teething toddler exhaustion. I guess that means that tonight I have to go to Level 2 Shock.

There are no full length mirrors in my house so I don't know how it is going though my tummy interally feels firmer if that makes sense and my thighs feel more toned. However, at the weekend I found getting into my "skinny" jeans harder than it was a week or two ago. I guess this means I need to combine Jillian with not eating chocolate? Blush

On which note I am also going to go back to longer cardio - running and swimming - as I don't think my body copes well without these longer cardio sessions for weightloss.

FrameyMcFrame · 06/08/2012 15:14

I did it again last night and I felt really sick afterwards, I am really unfit though :(
What is the best time of day to do it?

hevak · 06/08/2012 16:46

I did level 2 for the first time today - day 10 for me (I had one day off last week). I'm still using tins of beans instead of proper handweights though Blush

I'm feeling much fitter and more toned although I don't think I've lost any significant amount of weight - but I don't weigh myself regularly anyway. My tummy feels a bit smaller - my jeans seemed to fit better on the weekend.

I'm going to keep it up and I am planning to order some more Jillian DVDs. I really need proper handweights first though!

and I'm not mentioning that I may have taken leave of my senses by planning to get so fit I can do that Insanity workout DVD that a previous poster linked to

Millie1 · 06/08/2012 20:52

I think I've done it around 10 times but over 3 weeks - will do 3 days straight then take 5/6 off so a bit silly of me. However, I can pull the belt on my jeans in another hole and DH says I look ore toned. Need to move up to L2 and also do it 3/4 times each week instead of having breaks which are too long.

chicaguapa · 09/08/2012 13:29

I finish my 30 days on Saturday and look a lot better for it. I agree that it doesn't come down to weight, not just not as a measure but you also have to look at it as an overall feeling. I've lost around half a stone in net weight, but I look better than if I'd just lost half a stone on weightwatchers. I have a better shape and I feel more solid than wobbly. I am also in jeans I couldn't fit into before without having a muffin top. Blush

I've still got a way to go on the belly fat, but I've lost my back fat so I know it's shifting. Amazing really!

I prefer level 3 to level 2 as I just dreaded the military press and the squats with the v raise. I'm also now using the 5lb weights. I still struggle with the high impact stuff though and follow Anita on those.

I start on the Ripped in 30 DVD on Sunday as I will have just under a week to go until my holiday. I'm encouraged by the difference that daily exercise can make in a week so I'm going to carry on right up until we leave. Grin

I do it before I go to bed as that's the best time for me to fit it in.

podmumlet · 09/08/2012 14:26

Doesn't the release of endorphins and energy keep you awake thereafter chicaguapa?

Thanks to all the ladies that have contributed to this thread. I am feeling really inspired.

I have never been able to do a squat unassisted nor been able to do a decent push up. Would it be pointless trying the Shred? Do I need a prw-shred fitness routine to be fit enough to start the shred?

Hetaera · 09/08/2012 15:35

Podmumlet, as someone who has never ever liked or done exercise I cannot begin to tell you how this DVD has changed my life. I also have a problem with 'sporty people' so was worried about liking Jillian.

The 20 minutes or so is just enough to get your metabolism going but is short enough to mean you can actually stick to it. The modified moves are great for easing you into it. I couldn't do push ups or squats when I first started. I love Jillian!

I was (realistically) a size 20-22 in January and am now trying on size 12 dresses and they all fit! Diet wise, I had to give up wheat for medical reasons, but I have still had plenty of treat days with wine, chocolate and tortilla chips! Grin
...I am also still really rubbish at levels 2 and 3.

If you have a problem with your knees then this is not for you and you should try something lower impact.

The first time I tried it, I had to crawl up the stairs as my legs were shaking! Initially I did it five days a week and now I try to do it every other day.
Just try it, you have nothing to lose and a new wardrobe to gain. x

anna1991 · 11/08/2012 22:08

I wish I could do this shred DVD but don't feel motivated to do it. I don't like vigourous exercise. I recently lost 100 lbs by walking, swimming, yoga and changing the way I feel about my body. For toning up I do pilates and weights. SHRED makes me tremble. Looks like I might snap a vertebrae

chicaguapa · 11/08/2012 22:13

I am so evangelical about this DVD! Grin

At the end of the 30 days, I have lost half a stone but 1.5" off my waist and 1" off my hips (I didn't measure anywhere else) and rather than squeeze myself into the dress size I now comfortably fit it. I'm estatic with the change in such a short time and not having to be strict with my eating.

But importantly I have discovered how much better I feel doing exercise and how I am holding myself differently. I am feeling quite smug.

I have a bit more to go so onto the Ripped in 30 DVD tomorrow. It's never over eh?

Sputnik · 11/08/2012 22:30

Podmumlet, give it a go, go as far down with the squats as you can and you will improve. For push ups, I still can't go all the way down even with the modified version, but you can start with doing them against a wall (feet as far away as you can manage), then on a worktop, then a table etc, gradually getting lower til you reach the floor.
Heteara that is amazing, well done!
