Thanks Ladies Hmm ... have bought the DVD and did my first L1 shred this morning. I feel like I am going to keel over, my legs are like jelly and I know I'll ache tomorrow but ... I am so unfit (it's the first exercise I have done in 4 years plus) that I thought that if I did the warm-up and 5 mins, I'd be doing well - I kept going til the last set of jumping jacks, albeit with a few little breaks. Need to get some weights (tins of tomatoes don't really do it!) and need to be disciplined.

Just did it for the 1st, I had to put the aircon on though as at 7 am it's already 31 degrees.

Anyway it's good when you realize you are at the end so soon its a good feeling. I can't do it daily due to work and heat issues, so will be trying for every other day.

Hello,

I've had the shred video for a while but only do it now and then. I "retire" Wink on Thursday so will have a lot more time to do it, and desperate to lose IVF weight Sad
So i've done it this morning.
Has anyone measured themselves before they started?

Millie1 · 17/07/2012 14:30

I did Karbea but only started yesterday!

I can hardly walk today - my thighs hurt sooo much! Hobbling around like a bandy legged cowboy and too sore to repeat it today. Am away tomorrow so it's in my calendar for Thursday morning. God, I haven't been this sore in years!

I am having a day off today! Feels really weird and a bit naughty but I just didn't find time today and won't want to do it after dinner. Have done 8 days straight so I'm hoping a day off won't matter toooo much.

Karbea, I measured myself the day before I started and have already lost 1 inch off boobs and 1 inch off waist. Nothing off my hips yet though which is a bit of a shame Grin. Have lost 3lbs so far which is good, though I have got a lot more to lose...

Millie1, my thighs hurt like hell for first few days! Sympathy for you!

Hi. Feeling a bit sore in places but not too bad. Wanted to do again this morning but I am only early shift

Day 3 hurt. It's the back of my legs that I feel it. My stomach doesn't feel it at all - mustn't be doing it right.

Great inch loss Bella!

Astronaut - I had a relatively strong core when I started and have never felt Shred in my abs either - sometimes in the shoulder/arms (particularly after Ls 2 and 3) and yes, hamstrings/buttocks can feel stiff!

I braved Level 2 today. Was just so sick of star jumps. I now have a new nemesis, the Squat Thrust! I'm going to try to stick with level 2 for a while - it's definitely harder but I'm ready for a change. Hoping that tomorrow I might do it a bit better... Grin

NaiceSpam, I get soooooo sweaty, makes me think it must be doing me some good???

I do body pump three times a week. Is this harder ?

Report
notyummy · 21/07/2012 08:14

Depends on the weights you are using Frontline. I used to do Bidy Pump too, and it prepares you well for the strength element of the Shred, but not the fact that it is combined with cardio. I would say that they are equal in toughness, even though the Shred is shorter.

Like NY I have never found Shred remotely tough on my abs, and I started doing it 10 weeks after a CS. I just think that actually 60 seconds of ab work three times in 27 minutes isn't that tough. But all the general holding yourself properly for the rest of the workout does give them enough of a workout that it tones your tummy.

The amount of stuff you do in plank in L2 and 3 is great for your core though. Just remind yourself of that at the time!

Is it really bad for your knees?

I have a few stones to lose but I don't want to cripple myself in the process!!

Haha, Coconutty, I have just finished my 2nd day of Level 2 and had that exact same feeling. I'd lost track of which circuit we were on and it was soooo brilliant when she said it was cooldown time. Looking forward to the day when I think "oh no, is it over already?" Grin Hmm

I'm now on level 2 and am struggling with motivation. The squat thrusts are awful and I can only manage 10 before I collapse! My best moment is when I finish the strength exercises in circuit 2 because I know I'm halfway through!

Report
bellabelly · 21/07/2012 23:55

Oh god, chica - squat thrusts are the devil's own work... I am HOPELESS at them.

gigglygirly - my knees felt awful to start with (but could still walk) but now I'm REALLY careful about following her advice and they are fine. Throughout level one she does keep warning you not to put your knees in the wrong position - I wasn't really listening to that advice and I think that's why I had a problem.

Hi all can I join you? I have got to level 1, day 4 numerous times in the past year. I am doing it again and reached day 7 on fri. I had last night off as DS had a sleepover and they were up until 10pm! I am moving onto level 2 tonight, as I am so sick of level 1. I really need to use heavier weights (I am only using the green Davina ones), bit I am moving house in a few weeks so will just wait for the punk ones to appear then. I am a bit concerned about getting too bulky though. I am unfit, flabby and quite muscly strangely. I have recently lost 19 kilos and only gone down not quite 2 dress sizes and my thighs acre still fat and muscly! I am hoping to lose another half stone at least over the 30 days. I am using MFP too and doing my own odd mix of limiting carbs/eating full fat/calorie counting that seems to work for me. I am aiming to do lots of walking and housework too for cardio Smile
